Ann scribbled down the answer to the math problem and slammed the book shut.
"Finally!" she shouted.
Suddenly the phone began to ring. Sighing, she walked over and picked it up.
"What?" she grumbled.
"You should be a bit happier after you hear this!" said the stranger, not at all bummed out by her mood. "Because you've just won a trip to FLORIDA for you and two friends!"
"What?!?!?! I actually get a trip to Florida! I'm finally getting out of stupid Missouri?!?! YES!" Ann screamed.

On the plane

"Lily, can you like stop slurping your soda? It's driving me nutso!" Ann laughed at her friend.
"Shut up, will you?!" cried someone from across the aisle. "I, unlike some people, am actually trying to watch the movie!"
Both Lily and Ann put their hands to their ears and stuck out their tongues. "We can do what we want!" they shouted back.
Suddenly the plane began to shake.
"What's going on?" Ann asked.
The captain's voice began to talk. "We seem to be experiencing some problems. Please put on your sea-" The voice was cut off. The plane began to shake harder and harder. People began to scream. Luggage flew out of their compartments. People who had ignored the captain's order flew out of their seats. Ann glanced at her friend. Lily was extremely pale and her mouth was open in a never-ending scream. Ann looked across the aisle at the person who had told them to shut up. He had grabbed a knife from an attendant and was attempting to cut off his seatbelt. Confused, Ann tried to take off her own seatbelt. The button wouldn't work! Panicking, she screamed at the stranger for the knife, for he had seceded in cutting off his seatbelt. About to hand it to Ann, there was a extremely large jerk and the knife flew out of his hand and into Lily's chest. Ann opened her mouth to scream but nothing escaped her lips.
The stranger slapped her. "I'm sorry," he cried. "But we need to get out of this plane!"
Sadly, Ann realized he was right. But she would not leave without Lily. She carefully pulled the knife out of her chest. Grabbing her unconscious friend, she followed the stranger. It was difficult. They were constantly thrown to the ground and trampled by people also trying to get out of the plane. They finally came to a broken section of the plane.
"Jump!" the stranger yelled.
"What?" she asked, disbelieving.
"Jump!" he yelled again.
Squeezing her eyes shut, she made sure she had a good grip on Lily. Then offering one last prayer, she jumped.
