Stolen Smile Returned, chapter 1
It's been 15 years ever since the day where Roxie told Mike she didn't want to see him. The day she lost her love. Her only love. For 15 years her heart has a part missing.
Of course she went to every show Green Day did at Gilman but she would always go in disguise. Usually a hat and a pink top because everyone knew Roxie would never wear pink. Billie would always know it was Roxie and sometimes he'd sneak up to her just to ask how she is... the answer would be "ok" but with no smile. She'd say congratulations then go back home after they were done. But what she didn't know was that every show she went to...Mike recognised her too.
Mike knew he shouldn't go and see her after what he did to her. And knowing that Toria wasn't far away scared him. He knew there was a bond between them and if he came to close she would kick his arse.
He would stare at her every night they played. She wasn't the same but every night she became happier. He could tell by the way she danced with Toria. Every time he saw her at school every time he saw her unhappy every time she smiled, he wanted to talk to her, hug her. He saw that Stacy had become very close to Roxie and Toria. Stacy had had a falling out with the blondes or whatever people called them Sluts tarts the popular. They didn't like her talking to Roxie and Toria. So one day Stacy went to school with a Sex Pistols top and ripped jeans. And that was the end of 'Stacy the Slut'.
It was a bad patch for the band. With Anastasia being pregnant and then Tre and Toria's sudden break up. Tre wouldn't talk about it and neither would Toria. Roxie got worried and so did Stacy but in the end they gave up. Toria wasn't going to spill.
It got hard for Mike. Especially with Anastasia, then his stepdad dying.
Roxie heard about it and did go up to him to say sorry and hugged him and sent him a card. Mike remembers that very last moment of touching Roxie. And after 15 years... he still has that card... and...the photo she dropped 15 years ago.
Then Billie and Tre dropped out around 3 months before graduation and Mike wanted to stay to make his mother and sister proud. Roxie and Stacy stayed but Toria dropped out around the same time as Billie and Tre. She only wanted her drumming. Roxie went on to do photography and Stacy did catering. Mike just did whatever he could he knew his band were going to be big.
Then Green Day went on tour and halfway through Mike's child was born.
Estelle.
She was beautiful, but Anastasia wasn't on the tour with them so Mike didn't see her that often.
Billie and Adie got closer and closer. The band got bigger and bigger. Tre got kinkier and kinkier.
Well with Roxie Stacy and Toria, it's another story.
Stacy opened a small café and she wanted Toria and Roxie to work there. They did and because Roxie had become an awesome photographer she hung her pictures on the wall and if anyone took an interest she'd sell them. Some weren't for sale because Stacy liked them too much. Then Toria did drum lessons part time. She was an awesome drummer. She had 5 students a week. And she met a guy who was one of the student's cousins. Seb. Short for Sebastian. He was tall and all that. She loved it because he was quite similar to her. Sometimes he would go to the café and just talk to Toria. He would always come when it's less busy. They started having countdowns now. They usually got it correct.
Stacy soon enough fell in love. And got married. His name was Brian. He had a bar in his eyebrow. He liked Green Day but his favourite band is The Offspring and he saw The Ramones live once so Stacy and Brain have a lot to talk about. And the good thing was that Seb and Brian got along. So Stacy and Toria would go on the double dates. But obviously Roxie was left behind. She did have dates but not relationships.
Yeah so Stacy and Brian got married, the same day as Billie and Adie actually. July 2nd.
Then Chad, Roxie's brother decided to go to the army... which Roxie tried to talk him out of and his grandparents but he wouldn't listen. So he was in training and their grandparents never talked to him again.
Adie and Billie were so happy that day. Mike the best man and then the next day they found out that Adie was pregnant. Then they started their tour.
Dookie.
It went huge! Stella got older and eventually Mike asked Anastasia to marry him. She said yes and that was that. And Tre had met someone got married and had Ramona as well. All happy. But things started to go a little down hill.
Pantalon... real name Jason Andrew Relva drove away one day and never came back. He had supposedly taken his own life. Mike took it kind of bad but he did pull through thanks to Billie, Tre, Adie and Anastasia.
But things got even tougher.
Green Day got tired of touring and cancelled but went on to do Insomniac, Nimrod, Warning and International Super Hits. (And Shenanigans). In that time, Billie got another kid. Tre got divorced and married Claudia and had Frankito. Mike's marriage was going through a rough patch. The band went through a rough patch. They stopped talking for quite some time. Well as in talking I mean emotional. They just talked about the weather and what sounded better the C chord or the A chord.
Then they decided they would stick at it. They went on the Pop Disaster tour that they were better than ever and they could kick anyone's arse, including Blink! But a conversation on the last night of the tour got Mike thinking.
THAT NIGHT
"Hey Mike" Tom walked into the room. It was around 1:00p.m and everyone decided to hang out in Green Day's tour bus.
"Hey Tom" Mike said. Tre had gone to find a café because he wanted a burger and Billie was in the shower.
Tom came and sat next to Mike.
"You know what we haven't actually talked properly," He said giving Mike a strange look.
"What do you want?" Mike asked.
"No it's just. What's your history, ex girlfriends? Boyfriends?" He asked looking at Mike.
"Come on Mike you might as well say. It's not as if you're going to see Roxie again" Billie said coming out in a towel around his waist.
"Wooh Roxie eh?" Tom said. Mike sighed knowing there was no way out.
"Yeah I was around 17 and I met her, she was awesome. The best. I have never loved anyone as much as her," Mike said thinking of the memories he'd been escaping.
"Whoa... what happened?" Tom asked.
Mike heard Billie drop his deodorant. Mike looked at Billie.
Billie then looked sorry he pushed him to answer Tom's question.
Mike sighed and told Tom.
"Well let's just say that's how I met Anastasia. I had one night stand and got her pregnant" Mike said feeling something kick him in the stomach.
"I expected Tre to do something like that but... you? Man... hard time?" Tom said then leaving the bus.
"You ok man?" Billie said sitting next to Mike now fully clothed.
"... No...I miss her," Mike said
"Hey come on man, it's been years since. And we tried inviting her to the wedding but she never came." Billie said putting his arm around his shoulders.
"Yeah...I know... " Mike said and then decided to go for a coffee.
END THAT NIGHT
Thing weren't great with the café either. Stacy and Brian were having problems with money and they said they might have to close it down because it wasn't making money.
Toria and her boyfriend broke up because he had to move to Australia because his mom died and his father... well... had turned 'nuts' in a way. He forgot everything. He couldn't look after himself then, lest just say. Toria understood completely but... she wasn't going to move out there with him. It was hard for Roxie to see her two best mates go through it all.
So in the end Roxie decided to give the money she had been saving from selling her photographs to buy an apartment to the café. Stacy didn't want to take it so, Roxie gave it to Brian. Brian didn't want to but Roxie told him to or she'd stick a fork up his arse.
Then what Roxie did for Toria was awesome.
She bought her a new drum kit.
So that made Toria happy as hell. She didn't forget about Seb, but she forgot about grieving. She got on with life. And soon enough the café got back on track.
Then one day they turned the TV on to see that there was an interview with Green Day. Sure Roxie and Toria loved Green Day's music but Roxie always tried not to pay that much attention but that day she couldn't take her eyes off the TV.
THE INTERVIEW ON THE TV
"Yeah we've gone through a rough patch." Billie says.
"Band wise and family...but we're on track." Tre adds.
"We're in the studio now and we have around 40 songs to choose from and they are pretty solid" Mike says.
And is it true that you guys are single now? (Interviewer)
"NO WAY!! Well I am not" Billie says. Tre laughs and Mike seems to look upset.
"Yeah its true for us though" Mike said putting and arm around Tre.
"But we still get to see our kids and stuff so it's not all bad. Like I said we're on track"

Ever since then Roxie and Toria had been thinking more of their past than ever before. It scared Roxie knowing the man she loved so much was now famous and she loved the band. She did from the beginning but it hit home that he was famous.
Roxie felt bad. She knew that Mike still loved her when she left and she still loved him, even then, still now. She keeps on thinking they could have tried to make things better, the feeling had been bubbling inside her for some time.
Toria had kept the secret of her and Tre splitting a secret. She didn't want to say, it wasn't as bad as Roxie or anything but, she, was scared to tell, but, she would slip some hints but, no... she was never going to tell... in a hurry.
Then the war in Iraq. Chad had come back to say goodbye to Roxie. Roxie couldn't handle it knowing he'd be having bullets shot at him every day. Even Toria, Stacy and Brian got tearful. Roxie didn't want to lose all of her family. Her and her grandparents never saw eye to eye ever since she was 'punk' 'outcast'. And ever since she told them that she couldn't stop Chad that it was his life... they got even more... pissed at her. So in a way, Chad was the only family she had. But Chad left and ever since Roxie had a huge hatred against George Bush!
What came next...American Idiot.
The café taped the video for the song and would play it every hour.
Green Day on the other hand, were more amazing, more awesome then Dookie. They had a killer song about Bush and politics and what kids are afraid to be. They weren't scared and they knew they were awesome.
Soon enough the tour came along. And they were going to play at Cali.
Stacy really wanted to go. So did Brian. Toria started jumping up and down when she heard that Stacy was going to buy tickets for them all but, Roxie didn't think it was such a good idea.
"What happens if they do notice us?" Roxie asked.
"Hey it's been around 15 years. You have changed in appearance so... I doubt it and come on there's going to be loads of other sweaty younger people there so ... please?" Toria pleaded.
