Letters To The One I Love, chapter 1

"Billie Joe Armstrong, could you please get your fucking ass moving and help me with tidying up this mess?"
"Adrienne Armstrong, could YOU please stop fucking shouting at me?"
"I wouldn't shout at you if you didn't lay around like a fat old man and want me to serve you!"
"I don't want you to serve me!"
"Then could you PLEASE go upstairs and tidy up the cupboard in our bedroom?"
"Our bedroom? You mean the room you kicked me out two weeks ago?"
"I kicked you out?! And what did you do that caused me to 'kick you out'?"
"I... Fine! I'm coming."
"Well, I'll thank god for your lordliness."

Billie went upstairs into the room they still called "their" bedroom, although it was only Adrienne who slept in it anymore since he was forced to sleep on the couch because they ended up fighting every evening so that neither they or Joseph or Jakob could get any sleep. He started throwing things out of the cupboard without any care, his shoes, a tie... Who cares?
Suddenly a small box came into his view. He didn't know what it was, but anything about this box forced him to open it. He took a look into the box and gasped.
"Adie!"
"Fucking hell! WHAT?!"
"Please come upstairs... "
"What the hell... "
"Please... "
"Okay, okay... "

Adrienne sighed and walked up the stairs till she reached the room where she found her husband kneeling on the floor, still staring at the content of the box. She raised an eyebrow in confusion. Billie got up and took something out of the box. It was a sheet of paper. He went to his wife who gave him a questioning look. Billie Joe took a deep breath and started to read out...

Dear Adie,

Here I am, back at home for about two hours
And I already miss you.
Heh. We were just driving back home from
Minnesota, and I already asked Mike
"Hey, when can we play a gig in
Minneapolis again?"
And he stared at me kinda "What the fuck?!"
And Tré looked at me kinda. "Minnesota, huh?
Hmmh. Adrienne's from Minnesota."
I think he knows what's going on.
No, I'm damn sure he knows what's going on.
And he keeps teasing me.
Asks things like "And what will you do if she calls? Huh?"
And I, idiot that I am, started to blush.
That's so typical.
You know what?
The whole time I was staring at the phone.
Why don't you call? I just love our conversations.
Okay, I could call, too... I will. After I finished the letter.
Well, what else can I write? Not much going on.
Mum's new boyfriend is being an ass as usual.
Doesn't have better things to do than telling mum that I'm
Writing letters instead of cleaning my room. I'll get into trouble.
Oh well. Fuck it. Maybe you'll call today. I'll wait.

Love, Billie Joe

Dear Billie,

I'm so sorry I didn't call you.
And, even worse, I don't have an excuse.
I just forgot it. I'm so, so sorry, really. Forgive me?
Heh. Yeah, Tré's a smart guy. Mike is, too.
They are just bound to know what's going on.
Even my dumbass friends asked me questions, what
Is going on with this guy from California. It's funny.
They don't even know your name. And I must confess
I mention it at least ten times a day. You know what?
I'm calling you today. I mean, the day I wrote this letter.
I'm pretty sure they day you receive it I call you too because
I love calling you, but... Man, you know what I mean.
I don't really know that guy but from what you told me about
Your mum's boyfriend he doesn't deserve her love.
But I think I better keep silent. I don't know him,
I don't say bad things about him. That's it.
Look, Billie, I have to go now. I told Mrs. Sincley I'd look
After her children this afternoon? You know Mrs. Sincley?
She's the woman that caught us burning my old Maths books.
Yeah, the one who shouted at us. But actually she's a pretty nice lady.
So, I really have to go now. Call you tonight.

Love, Adrienne
