Letters To The One I Love, chapter 5
At that moment a catastrophe happened.
Billie would never forget that minute, that day.
Every night he would wake up, his face wet from his tears.
The same nightmare again.
Pictures of burning houses and crying people. The voice of the newsreader on TV who told the world that there was an assault in Oakland, California. That the explosion killed 12 people besides the terrorist. 12 people oout of so many. Out of thousands.
Memories of that terrible evening. His own panic as he dialed Adrienne's cell phone number. The tears that ran down his cheeks as no one answered his calls. A sleepless night waiting for his family to call and tell him they were alright.
Nervousness.
Suffering.
But Billie Joe didn't have a clue of all that when he smiled warmly and lightly ksised the paper. He didn't know he had lost everything just a few seconds ago. He didn't know his letter would never get to its recipient. Carefully he put the paper down.
He didn't know this was the last letter he ever wrote.
The end.
