"Hi, I'm Your Neighbour.", chapter 4
"OK, what is there to tell me? Spill, now, or you die."
"OK, OK! Why so impatient? Anyways, the reason he's 'pink as a primrose' is because he...he...he likes you." he stammered.
"Aww!!! He likes me? How cute!!!" I cooed.
"Can I tell you a secret?"
"Yeah. 'Spill. Or you die.'" he mimicked.
"OK, you mimic, you don't get to hear the secret." I taunted him, making him plead.
"OK, OK, I'll shut up. What's the secret?"
"I like him back."
There was a silence and then Billie came back through from the bathroom.
"Why so quiet?" He asked, a little freaked out.
"Umm....nothing. Hey Billie, can I talk to you...umm...alone?" I stammered.
We stepped outside Billie's door to talk.
*Billie's POV*
Why does she wanna talk to me? Does she not want to be my friend any more? Is she mad at me or something? I hope not. I hope it's something good.
*Mike's POV*
Uh-oh. Is she gonna tell him I told her? I hope not. Billie'll have my head. Hopefully, it's about something else.
*Back to Nikki's POV*
*Sigh* This is going to be tough. Well, all I can do is hope for the best.
"Billie?"
"What?" he asked, a little nervous.
"Do you...do...do you like me?" I stammered, asking him.
"Umm....yeah, kinda...maybe...yes. I do." he said blushing once again. Damn, this boy could not STOP!!!!!
"Can I let you in on something?" I said, smiling a little.
"What?" he asked, a bit awkwardly.
"I like you too."
"Really?" He asked, really hopefully.
"Yep. Really, I do. Maybe when we get older we can be boyfriend girlfriend." I told him.
"That sounds good. Well, 'Mikey Tighties' is waiting. Let's go back in before he comes back out here and hears us talking about this."
"OK. And while we're at it, I'd like to warn you about mimicking. Mike already got his warning."
And we went back in his room. He set up a sleeping bag for me to sleep in and also set one up for Mike. For the rest of the evening until it got dark, we listened to music and talked about music with each other. After a while, Mike started mimicking me again. I got pissed and threw a pillow at him. That started a pillow fight.
"BEAT THAT CRAP, BILLIE!!" I screamed, slamming a pillow at him.
"OK!" he screamed back.
And with that he slammed a pillow into my side, the hardest he could. Worst place ever. You see, Carrie, a long time ago, had cousins who visited her about a year ago. One of her cousins, Karen, had brought an extra-large bottle of foundation along with her and gave it to Carrie. Carrie and I used this to disguise the bruises and cuts. Since I hid them very well, Billie nor Mike nor anybody knew what happened between my parents and I except Carrie.
"Oww..." I gasped, falling to the floor.
"Whoa. Are you ok?" Mike asked, running over to me.
*Nobody's POV*
Billie just stood there, dumbstruck. He didn't know what happened, or why.
"Billie, what the flip are you doing just standing there?!" Mike yelled to him, a little irritated that Billie was acting this dumb. Billie immediately snapped out of his trance and ran over to Nikki. She was clutching her side and crying a little, softly.
"Nikki, I'm so sorry, you know I didn't mean to."
"I know. Just-just be careful next time OK?" She said quietly.
"Yeah. Definitely. Why did that hurt so much anyways? I'm not that good at pillow fights. At least I never was."
*Nikki's POV*
Billie and Mike never knew about the beating. All they knew was my parents yelled at me and hated me. Like I said, I wore a good disguise. I had already calmed down and wasn't about to tell the boys what my parents-mostly my step-dad-did to me.
"Nothing. It was n-nothing."
"Oh really?" Billie asked. Then, he lifted that side of my shirt up. Not all the way or anything. He wasn't trying to be a perve, he was trying to find a mark. Obviously, the make-up had worn off in all my busy work today...
