Unexpected Children Form the Unsuspecting Past, chapter 10

"Are you okay?!" Rachel saw that I was clutching my sides.

"I'm..." I started coughing so I covered my mouth. A little red, wet spot appeared on my hand. Hiding it, I finished my sentence. "I'm fine, guys." By the time I was standing, everyone was looking at me with concern in their eyes.

"Great. I haven't seen you in six years and when I finally do get to see you again, I injure you to the point that you have tears of pain in your eyes," Until Clara had pointed it out, I hadn't even noticed that I was crying. Tré came up and gently helped me over to the couch. Which was pathetic because that was literally four feet away. I counted.

Don't ask.

Wasn't Gonna.

"Honey, are you okay? Where does it hurt?" Uh-oh. This was bad. Tré only called me 'honey' when something went wrong. The last time he called me that, Eve had fallen down the stairs and broken her wrist, while I was at the store.

So I just shook my head no, and held onto my sides. He seemed to get the message. My brother may annoy the hell out of me but right now I'm glad he's here for me.

"What da fuck ith goin' on hewe?" Eve. I had forgotten her. Again. I looked up at her and she saw the pain and tears in my eyes. She knew. I knew she knew. Again, don't ask how. Eve's very mature for her age. She has to be because the rest of us, excluding me, weren't.

"Mommy!" My little girl burst into action and reached into her uncle's back pocket for his cell phone to call 9-1-1.

She's a brave little girl for reaching in there. Even I wouldn't do that and I'm his sister!

Yes, We're All Very Proud Of Her

Is that sarcasm? I'm coughing up blood and you're being sarcastic?!

...

I started coughing again and this time Mike noticed the blood and told Tré, who in turn, started yelling something about the ambulance taking so long.
