"What An Asshole You Are Billie"-sequal to "you may not see me but im always with you Adrienne", chapter 8

*Out of Adrienne's P.O.V*
A few days had passed and Billie had been trying to get through to Adrienne non stop. She rejected his calls, scrapped his letters and shut the door on him whenever he tried to settle the dust. She wasn't having any of it. Tre and Mike had been staying round her house now and then to make sure she coped alright. Tre more than Mike.
Adrienne would tell them she was ok and that they really didn't need to keep checking up on her. To tell you the truth, she loved it when she opened the door to one of their happy faces, but she felt bad that they put their time aside to come and see her.

"Tre, really I'm fine, I'm putting the past behind me and getting on, you really don't need to check up on me!" Adrienne insisted one afternoon as she opened the door to Tre, who was holding a bagful of groceries.
"But I WANT to come and see you. Are you saying you don't like me anymore?" Tre pouted, lolling his head on one side. For the first time in ages, Adrienne giggled slightly. It was only a giggle, but hey that's something right?
"Oh, fine come on in and what's in the bag?" She asked, opening the door for Tre.
"Some food, I thought you might not have got any in so I bought some for you" Tre said, laying the bag on the kitchen surface.
"Tre, you didn't have to do that, oh you're so lovely Tre" Adrienne said, giving him a light hug.
"Any time, I told you I am here for you" he said seriously, looking into her eyes. Adrienne looked away guiltily.
"Tre, stop it you're freaking me out, I'm not used to you being serious" She said, looking at the floor.
"But I mean it Adie, I am here for you, you do know that don't you?" Tre asks, lifting her chin up.
"Yes Tre, yes I do" She replies, smiling up at him. He smiles back, taking hold of her hand and giving it a light squeeze.
"Right! Let's get these groceries packed away" Tre says enthusiastically, breaking the moment.
"Yeah, right groceries, sure" Adrienne stutters, grabbing a bag of oranges and placing them in the fruit bowl.

They spend the next few minutes packing away the food Tre had brought when the phone starts to ring. Adrienne freezes slightly, knowing who is on the other end. Tre glances over at Adrienne, asking her whether he should answer it. She nods at him, biting the corner of her lip.
"Hello?" Tre asks into the receiver.
Pause.
"No, I don't think she wants to talk to you right now Billie" He says. Adrienne's stomach does a flip. She desperately wants to talk to her husband as she's starting to miss him around the house. But how could she?
Another pause.
"Look Billie, she'll talk to you when she's ready, calling her like this isn't going to encourage her is it?" Tre asks him. Then he suddenly winces, holding the receiver away from his ear slightly as Billie was obviously not happy with Tre's comment.
"Just calm down, I already told you she's not ready at the moment, give her time Billie" Tre replies calmly.
Pause.
"Bye Billie" He says sternly, then putting down the receiver.

"It's ok, he's just worried that's all" Tre says, coming over to Adrienne.
"Yeah, well he hasn't got the right to be, for all I care he can fuck of and die" She replies sternly. Both Tre and herself new she didn't mean it but Tre nods all the same.

Adrienne suddenly freezes eyes wide.
"What?" Tre asks her, noticing her discomfort.
"I've still got to tell the boys" She says, worried.
"Oh yeah, that's going to be tough, do you want me to be there when you explain to them?" He asks thoughtfully. Adrienne nods in reply.
"I'd like that Tre" she says, smiling.

*Adrienne's P.O.V*
Tre is being so kind to me, taking up his time to come and check one me. I'm so glad I have somebody like him, so strong and caring, to have at a time like this.
I walk over to the phone stand and grab my car keys then putting on some shoes.
"Where are you going?" Tre asks me, bewildered.
"I need to get out, I've been cooped up in this place too long, come on, lets go for a walk or something" I suggest, grabbing Tre's hand and pulling him out the door. He just shrugs and lets me pull him along.
We get into the car, Tre slamming the door slightly and I turn the ignition on.
"So, where are we off to then?" He asks me, strapping him self in.
"Let's go shopping" I suggest. I see Tre's face drop at the mention of shopping.
"It's ok Tre, we can go in the toy shop and get a cookie at the café or something, just so long as you let me spend some money. At a time like this, a woman needs to shop, shop, shop" I say, driving down the road, heading down town.
"Fine" Tre says, his face lighting up at the mention of a cookie.

We arrive at the parking lot, outside the mall and get out of the car.
We walk around the mall for a while, Tre munching on a cookie he pleaded me for. We managed to look most of the shops and were by now, exhausted.
"Let's go and get a drink or something in that bar, I'm parched" I say.
"Oh goodie, that means beer so fine by me" Tre replies, slinging an arm around my shoulders as we head into the bar area.
Suddenly, Tre grabs my hand and pulls me towards the bar, where he has spotted two free bar stools. I sit down on one of the stools and wait for attendance.
"Oi, Jack assistance over here please?" Tre suddenly shouts to a rather large man behind the counter.
"Hey Tre my man, usual is it?" the man asks Tre then bringing his glance to me.
"Nope, a bottle of your finest please" Tre replies poshily. I raise an eyebrow at him as soon as the bar tender has gone.
"You must obviously come here regularly?" I ask him.
"Yeah, I like to come here now and then for a decent beer" he replies.
"Now and then meaning all the time I take it" I say, smiling.
"Yeah, you got it in one" Tre answers. "I'll be right back, I need a piss" he says quickly, getting up and heading to the door that says 'gents' above it.

I sit there, watching the barman pour drinks for people as I wait for Tre to return.
"Adie!" someone says cheerily.
"Tre, that was bloo-" I cut off as I turn around and notice Billie stood behind me. The thing is he wasn't alone. He had his arm around some tall blonde girl. As soon as he sees me, he snatches his arm away guiltily.
"Fuck off Billie" I say, grabbing my purse and heading for the door.
"Adrienne, wait" he urges, grabbing my arm and pulling me back. I try to tug myself away but his grip is so tight I can feel the blood in my arm throbbing.
"Let go of me" I say sternly.
"I won't let you go, we need to talk!" he pleads, looking at me with sad eyes. I almost relent, I really do, but then I pull myself together.
"Let go of her!" Tre suddenly says, rushing over towards us.
"It's ok Tre, honestly he's not doing any harm" I lie. He doesn't believe me.
"Yeah, looks like it" he says, nodding towards my arm, which has gone pale from the lack of blood in my arm from his grip. Billie quickly takes his hand away. I feel my arm tingle as blood rushes back in my arm.
"Hunny, who's this" the girl (she can't be a woman, she looks too young) says, linking her manicured fingers through his. Billie stiffens, obviously uncomfortable with her around me.
"This is, err Adrienne, my erm-" I cut him off.
"His wife" I say sharply. "It's ok, no need to explain who you are, I know who you are bitch" I say, turning around. I give Billie one last glance. Our eyes seem to stay attached for ages. I want to stay and hold him and tell him he's forgiven but that's out of the question... isn't it?
