A Vampire's Chaos, chapter 5

Patience got home on crutches.

"This stupid broken ankle! Ugh! It has to heal! It'll be so boring," Pace cried. Xavier hugged her, trying to comfort her with her new cast, that felt weird on her.

"It's late out, my mom will be worrying if I don't get home soon, so I have to go," Eternity said casually.

"Okay," Patience said, wiping cried-out water from her eyes filled with pain. "See you tomorrow at school."

"I'll walk you home, it's getting dark out," Xavier said suddenly. The three of them glanced at the clock that was blinking a red "11:45." Eternity gave him a confused look, but shrugged it off and let him lead her out the door.

Eternity walked really slowly, so she wouldn't have to get home right then. She tried making conversation.

"So," Eternity pondered. "Why are you doing this?"

"I don't know - I just thought I might give you some company or something. Make sure no chaos goes down on you while you're trying to get home," Xavier smiled. Eternity gave him an appreciative small smile, not showing her teeth.

Soon they got to her house. They walked up the stairs to her door, and turned to look at each other.

"See, I would let you in, but, like, my parents, they won't let me have friends over-They're really weird," Eternity stuttered.

"That's okay," Xavier said, obviously disappointed.

Xavier hugged her, saying, "bye." He got real close to Eternity and...she pulled away from him. Xavier gave her a questioning look. The look in her eyes told him that she was sorry, but he still felt embarrassed and upset. She walked inside her house and slowly closed the door, watching Xavier's face slowly fade to nothing but a cold black door. Xavier walked away in dismay.
