An Ex-Girlfriend's Revenge, chapter 10

Billie was sitting on the couch watching T.V. all by himself. Jana was off at work. Ashlyn was there, though. "Hey." She smiled and sat next to him on the couch.

"Hey." Billie said weakly. There were a few seconds of awkward silence.

"Look, I'm sorry for imposing on you like this and making you and Jana feel uncomfortable. I was a bitch...I mean, I was nervous. You had a wife and kids. I was just trying to make a good impression, but I didn't do so well. I can change, and I'm gonna try...for you guys."

"Thanks." Billie smiled. They were interrupted when the phone rang. "Hello. Uh...hang on." He turned to Ashlyn. "You wanna go to the bar?"

"Sure." She smiled.

"Sounds cool...be there in a few minutes." Billie hung up. "It was Mike and Tre." She nodded and they both got up and went to Billie's car. As they were driving to the bar, Three Day's Grace's "(I Hate) Everything About You" came on the radio.

"I love this song." Ashlyn reached for the volume knob and cranked it up. She began singing along with the lyrics as Billie smiled. "I hate everything about you. Why do I love you?" she sang, looking at Billie. Did she really mean those words, or was she just having fun? Billie wasn't sure.

*At The Bar*

"Hey guys, grab a beer." Tre said, as he greeted them.

"Two beers, please." Billie asked. The bartender nodded, grabbed two bottles out of the fridge and gave it to Billie. He paid the bartender as Ashlyn grabbed her beer. Everyone watched in amazement as she chugged down half the bottle without taking a breath. She looked at them, staring at her, and burped.

"What?" They shook their heads and turned away.

*A Few Beers Later*

"You know, it's funny." Billie said, looking at Ashlyn. He took the last sip of his beer. She finished hers and looked at him, puzzled.

"What?" she asked.

"When you're not worried about a whole bunch of shit, you're really fun to be around." She smiled at him.

"How about another beer?" Ashlyn asked with a smile.

"I think 5 is my limit." Billie protested, but she waved at the waiter.

"Oh, come on. Don't be such a sissy." She popped the cap off the bottle and took a long sip of the beer.

"Fine." He popped the cap off his and took a long sip as well.

*A Few More Beers Later*

"Billie Joe, I'm seeing double of you." Ashlyn was in a laughing fit. Billie started laughing too, and took out a cigarette. He offered her one and she took it. They continued laughing as Mike and Tre watched from a distance.

"Okay." Mike came walking over. "I'm taking you two home before I get drunk too, and we have to take the bus."

"Mikey, Mike, we're fine. Come on, look at us." Ashlyn slurred. He rolled his eyes, and he and Tre took them out to his car.

*Billie and Jana's House*

"Is it safe to leave you two alone here?" Mike called out the window of his car. Billie just waved a hand in the air as he walked to the house. Mike drove off and Billie got the house keys out of his pocket.

"Jillie Joe, hurry up. It's freezing out here." Ashlyn slurred as Billie tried to find the right way to put in the key and which way to turn it. Finally, the door opened and they stumbled into the dark house. Billie flicked on the light. "Where's Jana?" Ashlyn asked, looking around.

"She's working late tonight." He turned to her. "That was really fun."

"Yeah." She pulled him closer and whispered in his ear. "You're really fun to be around, too." He smiled at her. They just looked at each other for a few seconds before they burst. He pushed her against the wall and kissed her. They stumbled up the stairs to the bedroom.

*A Few Hours Later*

Jana walked through the front door, quietly so she wouldn't disturb anyone. The clock on the wall chimed. She jumped, and looked at the clock. 1:30 a.m. The light of the porch through the window showed a shadow on the wall. She turned and jumped again, this time with a quiet shriek, to see Ashlyn standing in front of her. "You scared me...did you just come from upstairs?" Ashlyn hesitated.

"Uh...yeah. The toilet isn't working down here, so I used the bathroom upstairs." Jana nodded, still puzzled.

"Well, g'night."

"Night." Ashlyn smiled, and returned to her room, down the hall. Jana waited for a few minutes and then went to the downstairs bathroom. She tried flushing the toilet...it worked. She wrinkled her eyebrows as she walked up the stairs to her bedroom. Something was going on and she was going to find out what it was.
