An Ex-Girlfriend's Revenge, chapter 3

"You know what? I don't really care if they're done or not," Jana said into her headset as she walked out of Starbucks.

"I'd like them to be done, but- you know what Dina, just have them on my desk by Friday. No excuses." She turned off the headset and put it into her purse. She wasn't watching where she was going and ran into a guy on the sidewalk, making her drop her stack of papers.

"Sorry," she and the guy said at the same time. He dropped to his knees and picked up her papers. She looked into his eyes as he stood up. He handed her the papers. "Thanks."

"No problem," he responded. "What are those for anyways?"

"I'm a fashion executive. I'm kinda the boss of things."

"Really?" He looked at her more closely. "Aren't you Jana Armstrong?" She was taken off guard, but then guessed he must have seen her with Billie in OK! or Enquirer, like she usually was.

"Yeah."

"I'm Jimmy," she reached out and shook his hand as she smiled at him.

"Nice to meet you."

"Do you think you want to go for coffee sometime?" he asked, noticing hers.

"I can't...I'm married."

"Not as a date. Just as friends...even though we don't know too much about each other. Well, let me rephrase that...you don't know anything about me."

"I know your name."

"True." They both laughed. "So what do you say?"

"Sure. How about Saturday at around noon...here?"

"Doesn't really matter. It's not like this is the only coffee place in Manhattan."

"True. So I'll meet you here Saturday at noon?"

"Yeah." She smiled, turned, and continued walking down the street to her bug. Jimmy smiled and walked in the opposite direction.

Jana sat down in the front seat of her car when her phone rang. She smiled and put it to her ear. "Hey Reeses...you'll never guess what just happened."

"What?" Reeses answered.

"I was walking out of Starbucks when I ran into this guy."

"Uh-oh. Does Billie know you're cheating on him?"

"No, it's not like that! He was really nice. We agreed to go for coffee as friends."

"You're friends? How much do you know about him?"

"His name's Jimmy, and..."

"You better be careful, Jana. There are some creepy people in New York."

"I know, I know. I think I'll be okay. I do have to deal with my boss, don't I?"

"True. Now she's a real bitch," Jana laughed. "I gotta go. I'm in my car, but I'll call you as soon as I get home, okay?"

"Okay, see ya."

"Bye."

"Bye," Jana hung up and drove home, thinking about what happened. Reeses was right. She had to be careful, seeing as she didn't know anything about this guy...except his name.
