An Ex-Girlfriend's Revenge, chapter 4
"Mommy, can I bring Bean to daddy's house?" Jamie asked as he ran into Jana's room while she was looking for an outfit to wear. Jamie was going to spend a few days with his dad, as promised.
"Who's Bean?" Jana turned away from her closet. Just then, Jamie's little pug scampered into the room.
"That's what I named my puppy." Jana smiled.
"Alright, as long as it's okay with your dad, I don't mind."
"Jana, can I talk to you for a second?" Billie asked walking into the room.
"Jamie, go finish getting ready." With that, Jamie ran back to his room with Bean following right behind him. Jana smiled and turned to Billie.
"I need to go to Boston for a few days."
"Again?" Billie nodded. "Billie, that's the fourth time in six months."
"I'm sorry, Jana, but I have a whole stack of interviews to take care of."
"Why do they ask you to come down so much... And why aren't Mike and Tre going with you. Wouldn't they want to interview the whole band?"
"I don't know. They do individual interviews sometimes."
"When have you ever seen Mike or Tre go to an interview alone?"
"Well, how would we even know? We all live in different cities." Jana just sighed and looked at him. He stepped forward and put his arms around her waist. "Jana, don't worry about it. I'll be back before you know it." With that, he kissed her and walked out of the bedroom. She took a deep breath and looked at the carpet where something white caught her eye. She walked over, bent down, and picked it up. She noticed that it was a receipt. Her eyes nearly popped out of her head. Some date. Jana thought. What had Billie spent $50 on flowers for?
"Billie!" she called and he walked back into the room. "What's this?" She held out the receipt and he took it to take a better look at it.
"Oh... My mom's going to meet me in Boston. We're going to spend some time together before the interviews."
"Oh, so if she can go with you, that means I can too, right?"
"Well, you have to work and the kids have to go to school."
"Yeah, but we could all take some time off and take a vacation... To Boston." Jana knew something was going on behind her back and she was determined to figure out what it was. She looked into his piercing green eyes.
"That would be great, but they have a strict policy on kids." Jana looked into his eyes in disbelief and he could tell she didn't believe him.
"Look, if you want proof..." He walked over to his suitcase and pulled out a white business card. "Call the building." She took the card and looked at it.
"Okay, maybe I will."
"Fine. Then you'll know where I'll be." She smiled and put the card down on the bed. She went to leave the room, but turned back and watched from the doorway as Billie put the card back into his suitcase. Her smile faded and she sighed. She didn't know where he was really going, but she was going to find out.
"Mommy, can we go now?" Jana turned to see Jamie standing beside her, with his suitcase and Bean at his feet. She nodded and walked with him to the car. As she was driving to Tre's house, she promised herself she was going to follow him to Boston and see where he was really going.
