An Ex-Girlfriend's Revenge, chapter 5

The day finally came when Billie left for Boston, and was the day when Jana would discover something that may ruin their marriage...forever.

"Thank you so much for watching my kids." Jana told her nextdoor neighbor, as she prepared to set off on her journey in her bug. She gave each of her three kids a hug and a kiss. Unfortunately, she didn't have enough time to stop by Tre's and say goodbye to Jamie.

"No problem. Now you go and do what you have to do." Jana smiled, got into her bug and drove off to where Billie said he would be. After a few hours, Jana pulled up to the hotel. She saw Billie standing in the front, looking around. She wondered what or who he was looking for. She jumped when her cell phone rang.

"Hello?"

"Hey, honey." Jana looked over at Billie who was on his cell phone. Fortunately he didn't notice her. He continued looking around.

"Hey." She sank into the driver's seat so he wouldn't see her. "How's your trip?"

"Great. I'm at the hotel now."

"Is your mom there yet?"

"Not yet. But she should be later today. What are you doing?"

"I'm sitting at home with the kids." She didn't even think before she said it.

"You're not at work?" She regretted what she said.

"Well...I thought we should both get a vacation, so I took the day off."

"That's great. Hey, put someone on."

"O...okay." All of the sudden the car alarm went off on the car behind her. She sank down as low as she could and tried to muffle the sound.

"Do you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

"That car alarm. I can hear it here and on the phone."

"Well...your phone must be echoing...maybe the batteries are low."

"Uh...no they're charged."

"Well, I gotta go. I'll talk to you later."

"Okay. Love you."

"Love you too."

"Bye."

"Bye." Jana said softly and hung up. She breathed a sigh of relief. "That was close." she said to herself. She sat up and saw Billie getting into his car. She started her engine and slowly followed him. He turned down a street and drove slowly through the neighborhood. Jana wondered what they were doing there.

He finally parked, got out with the flowers and went up to the door. Jana knew his mother didn't live here. Something was up. She parked in a spot where she could look inside the bay window of the living room. The woman looked about the same age as Jana. She had long, wavy brown hair and brown eyes. She was dressed up. That was definitely not Billie's mother.

She hugged Billie and he took off his coat. She smiled, took the flowers, went into the kitchen for a moment, and then came back out. They both walked up the stairs and disappeared as tears filled Jana's eyes. She never thought Billie would cheat on her. Even if she had cheated on him once...of course, that was totally different...she was drunk. She rested her head on the steering wheel and cried. She decided she didn't want to be here anymore and headed home.

She got inside and called her best friend, Reeses. She would know what to do...of course, Jana wasn't in the mood to tell her the whole story.

"Hello?" Reeses answered.

"Hey, Reeses." Jana uttered, wiping away the tears.

"Jana? What's wrong?"

"I don't want to talk about it. I need a favor."

"Anything."

"Can the kids and I stay with you and Mike for a while?"

"I'm guessing this has something to do with Billie."

"I'll tell you the whole story as soon as we get there, but I just need to get away from here...as soon as possible."

"Okay, well, we'll be here whenever you need us."

"Thanks."

"Okay. Bye."

"Bye." Jana hung up and got on her laptop. She needed to get the next flight to California. She needed to get away from her house that was filled with lies and start a new one. I guess it's safe to say that Jana had given up.
