An Ex-Girlfriend's Revenge, chapter 8
"I can't believe I agreed to this." Jana said as she and Billie sat on the hood of her bug, parked on the street in front of their house.
"Don't worry, you'll love her. She's a wonderful little girl." Jana just looked at her old, beaten up converse. "Who knows? Maybe she'll become friends with the kids." She looked into his eyes.
"Well, hopefully... They are step-siblings." They both looked down and in a few minutes a taxi pulled up. The door opened and followed by a suitcase was... The girl from the house in Boston? "You invited her?"
"No." Billie stood up and walked over to the taxi. Jana followed. "Ashlyn, what are you doing here? Where's McKayla?"
"She didn't come. I thought that I should come down first." She turned to Jana. "You must be the wife."
"I'm Jana." She forced a smile and shook Ashlyn's hand.
"Ashlyn, we agreed on this."
"Well, what's so terrible about me coming down when we're all going to be a family anyways? We should get to know eachother." She smiled as her eyes shot from Billie to Jana. "So where do I put my stuff?" She began walking towards the house as Jana and Billie followed behind.
"I wouldn't sleep with her even if I was drunk." Jana whispered. Billie took a deep breath and walked through the front door of their house.

"Will you excuse me?" Jana stood up and walked to the restroom. She felt more uncomfortable than she'd ever been in her life.
Back at the table, Billie was just as uncomfortable. "Tell me the truth, Ashlyn. Why did you come here?"
"Okay... I need your help." He looked at her, puzzled. "I need some money for child support. I don't have a very good job."
"Okay, how much do you need?"
"One hundred thousand." Billie practically spit out his water.
"What? That's ten months worth of child support."
"Yeah, I know. But I'm just a waitress."
"I can help you find a job."
"It won't be enough. Billie, they're about to kick us out of our house."
"I'll be right back." Billie stood up and walked towards the restrooms. He ran into Jana on the way there.
"What's going on?" Jana asked, sensing Billie's nervousness.
"She wants ten thousand for child support." Jana almost stopped breathing.
"Are you sure it's really for child support?" Billie nodded. "Okay. We'll go back there and try to work this out." He nodded again, and they walked back to the table and sat down. "No, is there some other way we can settle this?"
"Well, McKayla and I could come live with you guys for a while." Ashlyn said with a grin. She knew Jana would never stand for that.
"I... Just think ten thousand dollars is a little... Much."
"Well, I need it. And I know that Billie has it." She turned to him.
"Well, we're not giving it to you." Jana shot back.
"What's your problem? Why don't you just stay out of this?"
"I'm sorry, but as the mother of 80% of Billie's children, I think I have some kind of say in this. Don't you think?" Ashlyn just ignored her and looked at Billie with pleading eyes. Jana rolled her eyes and Billie sighed.
"I'll give you fifty thousand, and leave you to pay for the other half."
"How? By waitressing?"
"I'll help you find a good job."
"I don't need charity, thank you very much. And if that's all you want to give me, I don't need you. I'll stay in a hotel." Ashlyn stood up and went out the front door of the diner. Jana took a deep breath. She couldn't believe how hectic her life had become since all of this. She thought to herself, what if she never moved to Oakland and met Billie? Would things be better?
