The Girl They All Want, chapter 13
"Wakey wakey!" screamed a squeaky voice, waking Serena up.
"Ugh, Tre!" she whined. "Let me sleep."
"Too bad!" Tre yelled and dumped an entire bucket of icy water on her and Billie.
"Ahhh!" Serena shrieked and hopped off the bed, thankful she wasn't wearing white.
"Fuck!" Billie yelped, yanking his dripping wet shirt off and throwing it at Tre.
Tre simply grinned, his mischievous, lopsided grin with a twinkle in his eye, looking innocent.
Mike walked in with a stupid grin on his face.
"What the fuck are you smiling at?!" Billie snapped, still pissed at Tre.
Mike gave Billie a frown before disappearing back into the other room.
Serena went into the bathroom and took a nice hot shower. When she was done, Serena peeked out the door, just to make sure Tre wasn't there to pour something else on her, when she felt it was safe to come to out, she crept out.
Luckily, Tre wasn't in sight so she didn't have to worry right now.
Serena went over to mirror and put on her eyeliner while Billie showered.
"Watch out, you might mess up," whispered a voice, making Serena jump.
"Fuck!" she yelled, she had messed up and had eyeliner smeared all over her cheek.
Tre smirked and handed her a tissue. "Got an issue? Here's a tissue."
"Thanks," Serena replied, fighting the urge to smear his cheek with eyeliner.
Just then Billie walked out of the bathroom, fully dressed, eyeliner already applied, and drying his hair with a towel. Mike walked in, looking like he felt like shit.
"What happened last night?" Billie asked while looking at Mike.
Tre grinned. "Are you sure you want to know?"
"Yes," Serena answered for Billie.
"Well..." Tre started but Mike clamped his hand on Tre's mouth.
"Another time," he said quickly, a little too quickly.
Tre heaved a long sigh. "Alright."
Serena laughed.
"Well we have something to look forward to today," Mike cleared his throat importantly.
Everyone else stared blankly at him.
"Today is the fucking concert!" he shouted.
"Oh, shit I forgot," Billie widened his eyes.
Tre punched his fist into the air. "Shveet!" he yelled.
Serena laughed once again. No matter how long she hung out with Tre, he always managed to make her laugh. Even if what he said what incredibly stupid.
Mike glanced at his Rolex. "We better get going to where the show is gonna be so we can practice."
Everyone nodded.
There was a knock on the door, startling everyone.
"Room Service!" a chipper voice called out.
"Ooh that's for me!" Tre explained excitedly. He ran over to the door and got his order, handing the girl a 100 dollar bill.
"Keep the change," he told her.
"Thanks Mr. Cool!" she said giddily before closing the door.
"Not now Tre!" Mike whined.
"What did you order?" Serena asked.
Tre opened the container. "A pop tart," he frowned once he saw it.
"What's wrong?" Billie asked.
"It's not a pop tart!" Tre retorted indignantly, pointing at the burnt pastry.
Mike laughed. "Looks like one to me!"
"It's a fucktart!" Tre snapped.
"What the fuck is that?" Billie asked warily.
"Y'know a fucked up pop tart!" Tre explained calmly.
Serena burst out laughing.
Mike and Billie looked confused but then started laughing.
Tre threw the pastry in the trash without even tasting it. "C'mon lets go," he said disgustedly.
They followed him, dutifully until they got outside.
Tre stopped suddenly, making Billie run into him, Mike run into Billie, and Serena run into Mike.
"Fuck, Tre," Billie muttered, rubbing his head.
"Why did you stop?" Mike asked, also rubbing his head.
"Cause, I wanted to," Tre smirked and continued walking.
They followed him and got into a waiting limo.
Serena stopped right before she got there. "Where did this come from?"
Tre poked his head out of the top of the limo. "Me!"
She rolled her eyes and climbed into the vehicle.
Soon they arrived at the place where the show would be held. Tre was singing Dominated Love Slave at the top of his lungs.
"Cause I love feelin' dirty and I love feelin' cheap," Tre sang out. "And I love it when you hurt me, so drive those staples deep!"
"Kill me now," Billie pleaded to Serena, with wide eyes, similar to one of the looks he made in the video for American Idiot.
She and Mike laughed, while Tre continued to sing, oblivious to everyone else.
Moments later they were parked and the driver was opening the door for them. Billie and Serena immediately got out, but Mike had to drag Tre out.
He looked around and gasped. "Fuck, that's a lot of people."
It was true, there were tons of people walking around, they would be performing outside.
Billie shuffled around nervously. "Maybe we should sneak around to the back so we don't get bombarded by teenies," he suggested.
"Sounds good," Mike nodded.
They crept towards the stage, trying not to be seen. Just then a blonde girl turned around.
"Like, OMG, its like Billie Joe!" she squealed and pointed to them.
"Run!" Tre yelled. They needed no further encouragement; dealing with teenies could be a dangerous business.
Luckily a security guy kept them from getting any closer and attacking.
Relieved, everyone scrambled to the safety of the backstage.
That Evening....
Green Day had spent most of the afternoon, fucking around, occasionally rehearsing a song or two and now the show was going to start in 10 minutes.
Serena peeked out from backstage. "wow," she whispered. The crowd was large, well as large as it could be for a small show anyway. Moments later Billie appeared. "Mike is freaking out even though it's only a small show. Not even a call to Brittany could help." They both laughed. Then Billie ducked his head and met his lips with Serena's.
She placed her hands on his shoulders while he gently pulled her closer.
"He steals the image in her kiss, from her hearts apocalypse," he whispered between kisses.
Serena felt her heart flop, that was her favorite part of the song although she had never told anyone.
"Hey Billie! Stop trying to get laid and get your ass over here, the show is about start! Tre yelled with a grin.
Billie blushed. "Well I better get going, but I told a Security guy to let you in the mosh pit," he pointed to a skinny guy.
"Okay," She nodded and went over to the guy, Billie showed her. The Security guy blushed and muttered something about Serena following him to the mosh pit.
Once there, Serena squeezed past fans until she got to a spot near the stage.
When Green Day starting playing, Serena found that she could mosh with the best of them.
A few hours later Green Day had played pretty much all of American Idiot and some of their old material. Billie was just starting Wake Me up When September Ends.
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends
Like my fathers come to pass
Seven years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are
As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends
Ring out the bells again
Like we did when spring began
Wake me up when September ends
Here comes the rain again
Falling from the stars
Drenched in my pain again
Becoming who we are
As my memory rests
But never forgets what I lost
Wake me up when September ends
Summer has come and passed
The innocent can never last
Wake me up when September ends
Like my father's come to pass
Twenty years has gone so fast
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
Wake me up when September ends
All through the song, Billie's voice shook and it sounded as though he would burst into tears at any moment. Small tears smudged his eyeliner. Serena felt so bad for him. She could relate, after all her parents had died in September.
Billie rubbed his eyes and tried to smile.
"Hey guys you've been a wonderful crowd! I'd like to dedicate this next song to my girlfriend, Serena!" A spotlight roamed over the crowd until it found her.
"Come up here!" he yelled.
Once again Serena went through the crowd until she was on stage.
Billie gave her a reassuring smile before turning back to the crowd.
"This next song is, Extraordinary Girl!" The crowd gave a big cheer.
She's an extraordinary girl,
In an ordinary world,
And she can't seem to get away
He lacks the courage in his mind,
Like a child left behind,
Like a pet left in the rain
She's all alone again,
Wiping the tears from her eyes
Some days he feels like dying,
She gets so sick of crying
She sees the mirror of herself,
An image she wants to sell,
To anyone willing to buy
He steals the image in her kiss,
From her hearts apocalypse,
From the one called whatsername
She's all alone again,
Wiping the tears from her eyes
Some days he feels like dying
Some days it's not worth trying,
Now that they both are finding,
She gets so sick of crying
Once Billie was done singing, Serena felt as though something big was going to happen. Something VERY big."
Then Billie pulled a black box from out of his pants and got down on one knee.
Suddenly, everything became very clear.
Billie smiled that small sexy smile Serena loved so much and said, "Serena we've been together for nine amazing months, will you marry me and make me the happiest man on earth?"
Serena felt her knees go weak.
Marry Billie Joe Armstrong?
"Of course I'll marry you!" she replied happily. Billie picked her up and swung her around, while the crowd went crazy.
He slipped a diamond ring around her left finger.
Mike, Tre, Jason White, and Jason Freese ran over to congratulate them.
She glanced at the crowd, lots of people were smiling and cheering but Serena saw a few teenie girls actually crying! She wanted to laugh, but was swept away
by the Green Day Group. They were in for a long night of partying...
A few hours later at the hotel...
Billie Joe held his hands over Serena's eyes as they entered their hotel room.
When he finally removed them, she was amazed. The room was covered in red roses, there were several Vanilla candles, making the room smell warm and sweet, like freshly baked cookies. There was also a glass bowl of chocolate covered strawberries and a bottle of wine on the table.
"Wow," Serena said softly.
Billie grinned he had hoped she would like it.
Serena turned to him. "How did you know I would say yes?"
He shrugged with a half smile. "I dunno I just kind of hoped you would," Billie's voice trailed off.
Serena smiled and kissed him lightly on the lips.
At that moment Tre and Mike walked in.
"Could you guys not do that right now?" Mike asked boredly. "I'm happy for you guys but..." his voice trailed off at the end.
"Leave them alone, Mike. Billie's gonna get laid tonight!" Tre winked at Serena, who turned crimson.
"Fuck, no privacy," Billie grumbled irritated that their "moment" had been interrupted.
"Fine I see how it is!" Tre said with mock haughtiness. "C'mon Mike, I can see we are unloved!" He laughed before dragging Mike away.
Once they were alone, they resumed the kissing, but with much more passion and lust. They flopped down on the bed, still kissing.
Once they were done, they laid there. Just cuddling and talking about their future, throwing in an occasional kiss now and then.
It was exactly how Billie wanted things to be. Perfect.
