"Can I Go?", chapter 1
I awoke; my ears-cold as an ice cream cone. I was drenched in rain. In my shoes and my ears. I had no idea where I was.
One bright, early morning I got up to a loving family, and a warm sunny day. My mom had asked me "Do you have all your school supplies ready?" My sister yelled I do. I on the other hand had forgotten that school started today. Without a reply I ran up the stairs to my room. I got everything ready, and ran outside just in time to ketch the bus.
On the way to school my best friend J.B said that there was going to be a "Green Day" concert next weekend, and that his mom, and him were going. "My mom said that I could take one friend," J.B said. "Are you asking me to go with you?" He replied by shaking his head in a up and down motion. I new for sure that, that's what he was saying. "I'll ask my mother right after school," I replied. Then we went into school.
When the bus arrived at my house, (my heart beating faster and faster by every move I took) I ran inside to look for mother. I couldn't find her. "Mother!" I yelled. No answer. I couldn't find her. I had noticed a note on the refrigerator. "I'll be back tomorrow. If you need any think call Jason (her boyfriend)." I really wanted to know where my mom was but I couldn't wait to find out the answer to me going to that concert. I called Jason. "Where's mom?" I asked. "She went to stay at her friends over night. She just got surgery for her breast cancer. What do you wanna know?" I replied by yelling in the phone "I WANNA GO TO A GREEN DAY CONCERT. My friend J.B is going with his mom, and said that he could choose one friend to go. He chose me." There was no answer for about 30 seconds, then finally I herd his voice say "That's not up to me," then I herd a click. I yelled "HELLO... Jason." There was no answer. I hung up and ran to my room.
When I got to my room there was complete silence for about 2 minutes then I ran over to my computer and logged on to "Geek Stink Breath" to see what exact day and time "Green Day" was doing there concert. The date was November 1st 2005 and the concert started at 6:00pm on November 7th. Even though I live in Chicago, IL I'm still asking to go to the concert. If I can't go I'll be a miserable wreck.
That night I could not sleep. I was up till 4:00 am thinking if my mom would say yes. What would her exact words be? What would I say? I finally fell asleep. When I woke up I ran downstairs to see my mom walking in the door. "Why aren't you in school?" she said. I replied by going up to her and hugging her then telling her that I stayed up till 4 last night waiting for the moment to ask her. "Can I go to a Green Day concert with J.B and his mom Saturday in Grand Rapids?" That's pretty far away. Here's the deal. You go to school and I'll think about it, and I'll tell you when you get home." I didn't say anything but I think she new that I agreed when I grabbed the keys to go start the car.
