Everyday is the worst day ever 2, chapter 4
The doctors were looking at Billie's X-ray. "It looks like he has severe brain damage. Were going to have to do surgery." The doctor said. He picked up the phone and called Mike.
"Hello." Mike said.
"Hi, This is Doctor Stevens calling from Oakland Hospital." The doctor said.
"Hi. How's Billie doing?" Mike asked.
"Well, I have his X-ray. He's going to need a serious operation on his brain. He has very bad brain damage." The doctor continued.
"Oh my god. I can't believe it. I hope he's ok." Mike said with tears forming in his eyes.
"I can't tell you that right now. I just hope he makes it through the surgery. We had to do this on another patient once and he didn't make it. I don't want the same thing to happen to Billie." The doctor said.
"Well, do what you have to do. Do you think we can visit him before you do the surgery?" Mike asked.
"Well I guess you can, but don't stay in there to long. We have to do operate on him as soon as we can." The doctor said.
"Ok. Thank you. Have a good day." Mike said.
"You too." The doctor said.
They both hung up. Mike called Tre.
"Hi Tre? It's Mike." Mike said.
"Hey. What's up?" Tre asked.
"We have to go to the hospital." Mike said.
"Why? What's wrong with Billie?" Tre asked nervously.
"He has severe brain damage. They have to operate, and he may not make it. The doctor said we can visit him." Mike said.
"Ok. I'll meet you at the hospital." Tre said.
They both hung up and drove to the hospital.
Doctor Stevens was waiting for them.
"Go ahead into Billie's room but no more then 5 minutes. We need to start immediatly." The doctor said.
Mike and Tre ran to Billie's room. There was a doctor in there holding a mask on Billie's face.
"Hello." Tre said.
"He hasen't stopped breathing has he?" Mike asked.
"No. I'm putting him under anesthesia. Were going to start the surgery soon." The doctor said.
Then some doctors and nurses came into the room with a stretcher. They lifted Billie onto it.
"Please. Don't let him die." Mike said.
They wheeled Billie into another room. There were a bunch of doctors in there surrounding a table with a bright light over it. They lifted Billie and laid him down on the table. A nurse came over with a cart that had a bunch of tools on it. "Ok. Here we go." The doctor said picking up a knife.
Mike and Tre were in the waiting room. "I hope Billie makes it through. He can't afford to die now. We are so popular now." Mike said.
"I know. I'm sure he will pull through." Tre said.
It was around 1 in the morning. Mike and Tre decided they would come back tomarrow.
"I'm to tired to drive home. Do you mind if I crash at your place tonight?" Tre asked Mike.
"Sure. Come on." Mike said.
Meanwhile in the operating room they were having trouble keeping Billie alive.
"His breathing keeps stopping. I don't think he's going to make it." A doctor said.
"Were almost done with the operation. Just make sure he doesn't stop breathing again." Another doctor said.
About an hour later they were done with the operation. They wheeled Billie back to his room. The put an oxygen mask on him and hooked him up to a heart monitor.
The next morning Mike and Tre went back to the hospital.
"I'm so glad your here. I've been wanting to talk to you. We finished the operation. I'm happy to say he pulled through. However there were time where we almost lost him. His heart stopped once and he stopped breathing constently. We've got him on oxygen right now." The doctor said.
"Can we see him?" Tre asked.
"Yeah. He won't wake up for a while though." The doctor said.
Mike and Tre went to Billie's room.
Billie was asleep. Mike and Tre sat down next to Billie's bed. "I hope he wakes up soon." Tre said.
"Me too." Mike said.
They sat there for 2 hours then they saw Billie move. Mike and Tre looked at him. Billie slowly opened his eyes. "Billie?" They both said together.
"Where am I?" Billie asked. His eyes were halfway open.
"Your in the hospital. You cracked your head open on the coffee table and had severe brain damage. They had to do surgery." Mike explained.
"How do you feel?" Tre asked.
"My head hurts." Billie said. "And I want to go home."
"I'm sorry Billie. It's going to be at leat a week before you can go home. You have to recover." Mike said.
A doctor walked into the room. "Mr. Armstrong. Your awake. How do you feel?" The doctor asked removing the oxygen mask.
"My head hurts." Billie said.
"Well you had surgery." The doctor said. You will be able to go home in about a week."
"Great. I want to go home." Billie said.
