And He's Still Here (Sequel to They're Gone), chapter 2
I hopped into my black Volkswagen convertible, and followed Billie out of the parking lot. After driving for a few minutes, we pulled up to a house set back form the street. They're kids playing on the lawn, and I saw Mike and Tre messing around with them. I immediately felt anger at Mike for what he did before. But I couldn't help but feel an attraction to him. I don't know what it was, maybe seeing him being kind, loving, and in a way, fatherly. I started looking at Tre. He was messing around with the younger child.
I looked at the kids, and noticed how much they looked like Billie Joe. They must be his kids. I thought, mentally slapping myself. Of course they're his kids dumbass. God, I hate it when I fight with myself.
"Kayla? Oh, wait. Can I call you Kayla? Or should I call you Lyric?" Billie's voice snapped me back into reality. I glanced at Mike, and noticed him staring at the car with me and Billie. "Kayla? Yoo-hoo?? Anyone in there?" "Huh? Oh, call me Lyric; I don't want Mike knowing it's me."
Billie nodded, and walked around the car to open the door for me. I got out, realizing I was wearing my Green Day shirt and black jeans. I casually put my jacket on, which was black too, and hurriedly took it off. It was way to hot to try and cover up. Billie walked me up to Tre, Mike, and his kids, and introduced me.
"Oh. My. God. You're wearing a Green Day shirt with ME on it!" yelled Tre, as he started jumping up and down on the grass. "Yes Tre, you are in a band called Green Day are you not? So if you weren't in it, it wouldn't be a Green Day shirt." I replied nonchalantly.
Mike walked up to me and held out his hand. "Hi, you already know who I am. I hope." He said, chuckling at the end.
"Joey, Jakob, time for lunch! C'mon!" shouted Billie, as he opened the front door and fell. "Damn! Fucking little... "
I ran up to him and helped him up. "You okay?" I asked.
"Yea, just gonna bruise there. Nothing much." Mike was staring at me peculiarly. We all walked into the kitchen. I walked fairly slowly than the others, as I was looking at how beautiful his house was. As soon as I got into the kitchen, I stopped in my tracks. Standing at the counter, was a girl who looked about my age, and long dark brown hair.
"Lyric, this is Adie, I mean, Adrienne, my wife." He looked down at the ground after this. I walked up to her, and shook her hand. "Nice to meet you Mrs. Armstrong." I replied, putting on a fake cheery voice and smile. The only problem was, Billie, Mike, and Tre knew this trick.
"Oh, please don't call me Mrs. Armstrong. It makes me feel like a grandmother. Call me Adrienne." I nodded, as Billie whispered something in Tre and Mike's ears.
"Lyric, would you please come into the living room with Tre and me?" I silently nodded my head.
As soon as we were out of earshot, Tre started jumping up and down. "Billie's been cheating on Adie with you hasn't he? Huh? He is isn't he?" I shook my head. I sat down on the couch, and Tre and Billie sat on either side of me.
"If Billie's not cheating, why are you here and who are you? Billie boy doesn't bring in random strange girls home unless he knows them."
"Well, he does know me. You do too Tre." Tre looked shocked as hell.
"Now if I knew you, we wouldn't be in this living room. We'd be in a bedroom." I laughed.
"Billie, will you tell the freak?" Tre pouted, and I saw a real person in there, instead of a crazy, perverted, freak. Fuck Kayla, you can't like all three! God, you shouldn't like Mike. He's the one that made you go through all this change. Billie looked up at us, and nodded.
"Tre, remember Kayla Corey? From 1988, and Mike... ya know. Hurt her." Tre nodded and waited for more. "Well, this is Kayla." Tre's eyes widened. He jumped up and hugged me tight.
"KA-... "
We cut him off. "Tre, my new name is Lyric, I changed it from Kayla to Lyric, changed my hair and eye color. All because I didn't want Mike to find me."
"Lyric, where are you staying?" Well, I was staying at a house, but I got kicked out for blasting your guys' music. Now I've been going from hotel to hotel."
"Well, Adrienne is having visitors over tonight, and they're taking up the extra guest bedrooms... "
"You can stay with me. Ramona's with Lisa now, and I have a lot of extra rooms." I nodded, and looked at Billie. "Don't do anything stupid Tre."
Then Tre and I got into his car and we drove off, heading towards his house. "You don't have any extra rooms do you?" I said.
"No, I don't. But what do you expect from me? Letting you stay with Mike? Or sleeping in Billie's overcrowded house? You deserve a bed! Cause... never mind."
I smiled at how thoughtful Tre was. He really cared. I am going to make him happy. He's helped me too much. Way more than a normal friend would.
Way more than... Billie.
