Time of Your Life, chapter 3
After spending a wonderful morning with Billie Joe eating breakfast, he regretfully said he had to go home. He promised to call later.
"Hello," I said answering the phone later that afternoon.
"Hey Marissa." It was Billie Joe.
"Hey Billie what's up?" I smiled.
"Oh nothing much...so how are...okay I can't do this," he said suddenly.
"What? Can't do what?" I asked.
"I can't pretend I didn't see anything," Billie answered.
"What did you see?" I asked, confused.
"All your pill bottles! There must be a hundred in there!" he yelled.
"W-what?" I said, astonished.
"Marissa what's going on, are you okay?" he asked more than yelled.
"Uh...y-yea. I just...um...never throw anything away. Half those perscriptions in there are old." I fake laughed.
"Oh okay." I could tell that he didn't completely believe me.
Silence over took us as I heard a noise from somewhere inside my apartment.
"Marissa are you there? What's wrong?" Billie asked, concerned.
"I think there's someone in my apartment..." I tried to whisper.
Suddenly there was another noise.
"Get out! Just go!" Billie yelled through the phone.
I turned quickly towards the door but ran straight into the intruder. I screamed and dropped the phone. As the intruder shushed me from screaming, I could hear Billie yelling from the dropped phone.
--Billie Joe's Point of View--
I heard her scream and then there was a loud thud. I threw the phone down and raced out of my house to hers. When I finally got there the door was ajar and I could see broken glass. I rushed in. No one was there. Then I saw her... Marissa lying there on the floor covered in blood and broken glass. I ran to her, picked her up and rushed to the hospital. Once there she was taken into emergency care. I waiting impatiently in the waiting room.
"Mr. Armstrong?" a doctor said coming into the room.
"Yes! How is she?" I asked frantically.
"You were the one that brought in Marissa correct?" he asked.
"Yes, yes now how is she?" I asked again.
"She's stable now. She has a few broken ribs and multiple cuts and bruises. But all in all she will be fine. Now listen the authorities are here, do you have any idea who did this to her?" he asked.
"I have no idea," I said honestly.
He nodded and left the room but was replaced by two police officers.
"Mr. Armstrong we have a few questions for you," one officer said.
"Okay," I said, kind of scared.
"What is your relation to Marissa?" he asked.
"Um...friends," I answered.
"And were you with her when this happened?" he asked.
"No we were speaking on the phone," I answered.
After answering a few more questions they ruled me out as one of the suspects which I couldn't believe they were considering in the first place. I was then allowed to see her. Entering the room it was oddly quiet. And there she was bruised and bandaged. I moved to the chair beside her bed and held her hand. Would she wake up I wasn't sure, I could only hope.
