When the World Falls Down, chapter 9
I got onto the plane and looked at all of the new recruits, all new, all scared.
"I am your major general Iris Jinx, you respect me and ranks higher then you, know I am fair at the least, but you make a stupid mistake and you will be cleaning your commander's feet with your toothbrush!" I said in my best commander voice. They all nodded and I felt the corners of my mouth twitch.
"Let's roll," I simply said while sitting down and they all cheered, the plane lifted and I looked out there, my friends, my boyfriend, they were all there. I sighed and started to fall asleep.
I woke up with my head on a guy's shoulder, I looked up and smiled innocently.
"Sorry," I simply said.
"It's fine Major General," he said while looking at the front.
"What's your name son?" I asked.
"Fyte, ma'am, Private Fyte," he said meekly.
"Why are you in the Marines Private Fyte?" I asked. He gave me a confused look.
"Well ma'am, I'm in it because I want to protect my friends, my nation, my family and my baby girl," he said.
"Are you willing to die for them?" I asked seriously.
"I'm willing to die for them," he repeated.
"You're going to be a wonderful soldier," I nodded at him. He smiled a bit.
"Thank you ma'am, that's a good compliment coming from you," he grinned more and I nodded. I went back to sleep.
"Major General," Private Fyte whispered. I nodded and stood up and gave instructions for camp. It was all set up by morning and I sighed again.
"Major General?" someone asked. Wow, I was really really sick of that name already.
"Yes Private?" I asked while turning around. A meek, lanky skinny boy about the age of 18 stood there.
"The commanders told me to tell you that the electricitiy is working," he said. I nodded and went to the headquarters where all of the electricity was, everything was running smoothly so far. I checked my e-mails and there was already three. The first was from 'classicaguitar.' I read that one first.
Hey baby,
It's Jason, I know you've only been gone a day but I miss you so badly. I don't know when you're coming back, I forgot, but I miss you babe, send me some pictures if possible, I love you and miss you.
Love,
Jason
I smiled and saved the other e-mails for later. I chuckled a bit and went out of the tent. Everything smelled of sweat and hot air, I had to endure more of this.
