two halves make a whole, chapter 1
"Sit down Dottie-im going to tell you everything, I know your father hates to admit the truth, but I have not been completely faithful all these years. You have a half sister, her names Estelle. Because I had an affair, 9 years ago, your brother Edwin's not your fathers". Dottie looked up at her Mum bewildered.
"So Edwin's only my half brother, and you had two children? Edwin and this Estelle girl". Dottie's mum looked sympathetically at Dot's confused face.
"Who's Edwin's real Dad, and how long did it last?"
"Two months-Estelle is Edwin's twin. His name's Mike and he's in that band you love-Green Day. I'm so sorry Dottie, dear. Do you hate me for it". The anticipation on Dot's mum's face meant that Dot couldn't upset her.
"This is great news mum! Can I meet Estelle and Mike. Are you still in touch with them?"
"Afraid not, I havn't seen him for 2 years, but Billie will help me get hold of him".
"What?! You know Billie Joe?"
"Yes" replied Dottie's mum, " Met him when I met Mike, we're still in touch. Shall I call him, he'd love to meet you as i'v told him so much about you. He's even offered us plane tickets to come over-we'd have to bring Edwin, Mike has a right to see him again".

Billie Joe met them off the airoplane, Dottie's sister, Suzanne stayed at home, with Dot's dad, Rob.
"Hi you are unmistakably Edwin, and that must be Dot! Glad to see you again Cath" Billie hugged Dottie's mum and ushered them into a big black car which took the four of them to Billie's house. Mike's coming over in half an hour, bringing Estelle with him. Have you explained to Edwin about her?"
"Yes-he says he's glad he has another sibling, although he would have prefered a brother having two sisters and two half sisters already, excluding Estelle. How's Frank? Does he still call himself Tre? That's who Edwiin's named after. He was such a fun person to be with. Is Mike pleased we're here?"
"Well" sighed Billie Joe, "He isn't over the moon, as he didn't tell his girlfriend about Edwin or Estelle, and now she's dumped him. Oh well. Here he is".
The living room door opened and Mike entered the room, an expressionless face staring at Dot.
"Hey there Cath-long time no see-that's the last of my skeletons out of the closet. So how are you? This is Dottie and this must be Edwin".
Billie nudged Edwin towards Mike s Cath muttered "Go and say hello to your father, Edwin" shuffling very slowly towards Mike Edwin looked absolutley petrified as he stared into Mike's misty, blue eyes. To Dot, it did not look like Mike would accept Edwin, he seemed angry and puzzled.
But then, the most unexpected thing happened. Mike flung open his arms and hugged Edwin tight, smiling with glee.
"Nice to see you again son"
