Blood, Sweat, and Tears, chapter 3

For the next month Tre' continued his job at the jazz club and at Murray's
Music Palace. He had enough money to afford his apartment, clothes, food, pretty
much everything he wanted and needed. The only day he had off from both jobs was

Tuesday. So Tuesday became Tre's "fun" day.
Every Tuesday Tre' would go to King's Hall of Fame, a place where drummers,
guitarists, bassists, and keyboardists could play their music for other people.
Tre' never played music, he just watched and listened to the other people. But
one day, Asher, a friend Tre' had made at King's, asked Tre' why he never
played.
"Oh, I don't know. I'm not very good," Tre' lied.
"Nonsense. Come on, Frank, play something," Asher encouraged Tre'. Asher
pushed Tre' up onto the stage.
"Hello everyone. My name is Asher, and this is my friend Frank," Asher
introduced Tre'.
"Uh, this song is called Basket Case," Tre' sat down at the drums and
started playing Green Day's song, Basket Case. The crowd really liked it. A
few of them recognized the song, and the others just went along with the rhythm.
Tre' earned over $300 in tips, just for playing ONE song. Suddenly Tre' realized
how much he missed Green Day. And in the middle of Basket Case, he just broke
down and cried.

Billie and Mike joined a new band called The Network. The Network were working
on their first CD one day, in Billie's basement, when all of the sudden
someone knocked on the door.
"Who is it?" Billie Joe said.
"Umm... it's Tre'," the muffled voice behind the door said.
Billie Joe and Mike stopped playing.
"Excuse me?" Billie Joe said, his voice shaking.
"It's Tre'. You know, Tre' Cool," the voice laughed.

Billie Joe slowly walked up the steps. He unlocked the basement door and pushed it open a crack. "Tre'?" he whispered.
A hand stuck through the little crack in the door. "Hi. How ya been?"

So Tre' came back. Billie Joe and Mike greeted him over joyously. The hugged him tightly and patted him on the back. Green Day was reunited. Well, not quite yet. See, once a band breaks up, people pretty much forget about them. They decide they like a new band, like Simple Plan or Fall Out Boy. Green Day was forgotten, even by their biggest fans. Of course Billie, Mike, and Tre' kept playing music, but they never expected what happened next.

It happened at a Fall Out Boy concert. It was almost the end of the concert,
only about half an hour was left. Billie Joe, Mike, and Tre', were in the backseats, watching their friends play music. Hardly anyone even recognized them
anymore. They had become no ones. All of the sudden, three strong men (Fall Out Boy's security guards), pulled the Green Day members off to the side. They handed Billie Joe a guitar, Mike a bass, and Tre' some drumsticks. Fall Out Boy said they had to take a quick break, and ran backstage.

"Tre', Mike, Beej! You're onstage! American Idiot!" Pete Wentz yelled at
them as he pushed them onto the stage. The stage was pitch-black, and no one could tell who was on stage. Mike, Billie, and Tre' looked at each other in awe.

Was this really happening?

Was Green Day getting a chance to start anew?

They all grinned at each other, and the intro to American Idiot began.

The fans went crazy. They jumped up and down, screaming and yelling.
Apparently, no one truly forgot about Green Day.
