Junkpile!, chapter 4
Monday morning before school, I head over to Jimmy's to see if he was ready to go to school. I knock on the door and a girl with long orange hair and squinty eyes answeres. "Oh, hi" I say awkwardly, "I'm your next door neighbor, I'm Jimmy's friend. I just wanted to see if Jimmy was ready to go to school."
"Yeah, yeah, whatever" she says as she lets me in.
"Jimmy!" she called, "Neighbor girl's here." She turns toward me and says, "I'm MJ, what's your name anyway."
"Bianca or Bibs, so are you going to Centennial High with Jimmy and I?"
"Yeah," she replies, "I'm in grade 9"
"I'm in grade 10," I reply, "same as Jimmy."
Jimmy comes down the stairs and says, "Well let's go then, I really don't want to miss the bus in this weather."
"I agree" I say and the three of us head off to school. Once at school, Jimmy and MJ get their schedules and realize that Jimmy is in my science, math and drama class. My first class is math, really uneventful because the teacher sat Jimmy far from where I sit. The rest of the morning was pretty boring.
At lunch time I meet up with Cara and head to the cafeteria. When we get there, we see Jimmy sitting with a bunch of punky/emo guys, one of them being Ferris Oliver Druit. This guy I really hate because a few months ago I had a crush on him, and had the interesting idea to tell him that I liked him. Let's just say he didn't return my honesty with the utmost courtesy. I decide to pretend not see him waving meanwhile Cara knows exactly what's going on, so she just follows me to the other side of the cafeteria.
My next class is science with Jimmy; I really did not want to face him after my display in the lunchroom. Anyway, I get to science class early, so I go to sit in my seat, a couple of minutes later Jimmy walks in and sits next to me.
"Ferris told me why you didn't want to sit with us." he says in a such an understanding voice you almost want to cry, "but its a good thing you didn't go out with that sleaze, you wouldn't believe the shit that came out of his mouth."
"You don't have to put him down to make me feel better." I say in a very calm voice.
"No I'm serious, he said stuff like he doesn't go out with girls like you, because they won't put out after the second date."
"Its ok; I don't give a shit anymore." I say in order to end that topic of conversation.
That day I go straight home depressed because old wounds were reopened but also glad because you know that Jimmy isn't a sleaze and that he cares about you.
