All The Good Titles Were Taken...So We Used This One!, chapter 5
At the concert Jamie and Ashley got to watch the show backstage so there were no worries about searching for a coffee machine between intervals. Jamie was content, because everytime Billie went to switch guitars and get a drink of water, they shared a quick kiss. And Ashley was happy to see Jamie non-depressed for a change. Sure her friend had bundles of energy, wait, an unlimited amount of energy but it was normally wasted on depression.

Man I feel better. I got to do what I've always wanted to do. These people love me and I love the people maybe not in that way but in general. Billie thought as he began to play 'Wake Me up When September Ends'. God, I wish my dad could see me now. He always told me I'd go far. Now look at me. Billie thought. He then remembered his father's last words "Make something of your talent Billie Joe. I love you."
***
Jamie heard the start of 'Wake Me up When September Ends' and thought of her dad. Why did he have to die? God, it was the hospital's entire fault. They should have treated his cancer faster. Wait, they should have identified her dad's cancer earlier.
Ever since Jamie's father had died, Jamie had never set foot in a hospital, even when she broke her arm. She had to be treated at home. The thought of the sight of her father in the hospital was enough for her.
When the concert was over Billie waltzed in looking like the King of The World. The smile on his face told Jamie everything. He was pleased with his performance as always.
"I'm Nº 1! I rock!" Billie came in grinning from ear-to-ear. Jamie smiled. Tré, Mike and Ashley walked off to the 'Celebrating Tent', leaving Jamie and Billie alone together. Billie walked over to Jamie. He took her hand and led her to the couch. He pulled her onto his lap and started to kiss her. Light kisses turned to heavy making out and heavy making out turned into something much, much deeper.
***
The tall, dark woman got out of her car. She had to make up with Billie. She loved him even if they had just had a huge fight. She had left Joseph and Jakob with her mom, and she started to walk towards the tent. The security guard grabbed her and told her she wasn't allowed to enter the tent, without a backstage pass.
"Umm, if you don't mind my husband's in there." She said angrily, pushing the guard out of the way. She walked into the 'Celebration Tent' where she saw Tré and Ashley making out on the couch and Mike and the rest (dancing round like monkeys) clearly getting pissed out of their skulls. She went over to Tré and asked where Billie was. Tré's eyes almost left their sockets when he saw her. What was she doing here?
"I haven't gotta clue, Adrienne." was all Tré could say and carried on kissing Ashley. She didn't bother to ask again. So she went back to look for Billie on her own.
***
At this point Billie and Jamie had left the tent and gone into the adjoining tour-bus, leaving Billie's pants and cell-phone on the floor along with Jamie's shirt. Billie's cell phone then started to ring; it was Tré, warning him that his wife is on the lookout for him. But Billie didn't hear a thing... ..
***
Adrienne saw their manager, Rob Cavallo.
"Hey, Rob have you seen Billie?" asked Adrienne, running up to him. Unfortunately Rob didn't know about the affair and told Adrienne exactly where Billie was...
***
Billie stroked the side of Jamie's face, they were dozing off already. Jamie heard the faint sound of a cell phone in the tent next to them. Sitting up straight Jamie listened harder.
"Billie, is that your cell phone?" asked Jamie. Billie sat up and went to look out the window. He saw Adie walking across the tent towards the tour bus. Crap, fuck, crap, fuck, fuck! thought Billie, as he ran back to hide somewhere. You could hear the door closing on the tour bus. Billie did the most stupid thing and hid exactly where he was a few seconds ago.
"Billie, what are you hiding from?" said Jamie a bit too loudly. Adie heard a faint muffled voice downstairs. Adie walked towards the stairs and swung the door open... .
***
"Shit!" Tré exclaimed, while spilling a little bit of his beer that was in his hand.
"What?" Ashley asked.
"Billie isn't answering his cell phone. Should we go see what's goin' on?" Tré asked. Ashley nodded and the two excused themselves and went in the direction of the tent. When they arrived in the tent, they saw Billie's cell on the floor saying one missed call, along with his pants and Jamie's shirt. They heard some screaming come from the tour bus. They then saw Adie running out of the tour bus with tears in her eyes, Billie running after her wearing just a bed sheet.
"Well that's enough of Billie I've seen to last me a lifetime." Ashley said covering her eyes. Where's Jamie if that's Adie and Billie? Oh, let me guess, in the tour bus . Ashley thought to herself. At that very moment, Jamie came running out of the tour bus, wearing a matching outfit to Billie's. Seeing Ashley, Jamie turned back into the tour bus and went up the stairs; but not quick enough for Ashley to race after her. When Ashley caught up with Jamie who was now starting to get dressed.
"What is the matter with you Jamie?" Ashley screamed at her. Outside Tré heard Ashley screaming and thought better of following, but he listened to the fight anyway.
"With me?" Jamie screamed back.
"Well I don't exactly mean that plant do I?" Ashley looked exasperated. "You know he's married, you know they've just had a huge argument but you still try to make it worse! You could never know when she could pay a surprise visit! They live about twenty miles down the highway for fuck's sake!" Jamie couldn't take anymore. She burst into tears.
"Ashley I've got something to tell you. I should have told you years ago," Jamie stuttered between sobs. Ashley looked confused. "You know when we were younger you never saw my Dad? Well that's because he died when I was 10, of cancer. And you know Lola? Well she was my step-mom my real mom fucked off just after I was born. Dad married again and then when he died I was stuck with my step-mom. And of course growing up minus a dad, I was you know in need of a male figure to look up to. So that's why I was never comfortable in front of guys." Ashley sat down on the bed next to Jamie.
"Jamie, I'm so sorry, I never knew." Ashley said.
"Duh! No-one knew, I never told anyone. I was embarrassed to. Remember when you asked where my dad had gone? And Lola said that he'd gone away and wouldn't be coming back? Well that was when even I didn't know. Lola told me that aswell, but then my Aunt Macy came and told me that Dad had died in the hospital. Then you remember that time the class had to visit the hospital and I refused to go?" It was all coming out so fast.

Flashback
It had been a sunny day, and Ashley and Jamie's class was going off to visit the local hospital. Ashley had actually been looking forward to it, but whenever Ashley started talking about it; Jamie had suddenly changed the subject or stopped listening. Then the day came, the coach pulled up and Ashley went up to the door Jamie lagged behind. The teacher told Ashley to get Jamie to come. Jamie stayed rooted to the spot.
***
"Jamie come on! You've gotta get on the bus. We're going." Jamie just stared at the bus. Then Ashley walked over to Jamie. She grabbed Jamie's arm. But something was definitely wrong with Jamie. She felt cold, and her face looked pale. Ashley tried to pull Jamie towards the bus. Jamie just stayed where she was. In the end the teacher let Jamie and Ashley stay at school. Ashley felt let down and wondered what was wrong. Before Jamie had seemed fine, her green eyes had been shining, her Californian tan looking healthy, now Jamie looked like a grey eyed, tourist.

"Yeah," Ashley said slowly. Then Ashley got why Jamie hadn't wanted to go to hospital.
"I didn't want to go to the hospital because I thought I'd catch cancer and die like my Dad, and because it reminded me of Dad anyway." Ashley looked closer to see Jamie looking at her, but actually through her at the same time. She looked possessed. At that moment, Billie burst in. He was about to say something, but saw the state of Jamie and thought better of it. Behind him was Tré, he actually looked worried. Had Ashley hit Jamie? Ashley looked closely at Billie. He had a red mark on his face; it looked distinguishingly like a hand. Tré saw Jamie's face, it looked red. Ashley HAD slapped Jamie. Tré took Ashley's arm and led her out the room. Once they'd gone, Billie sat next to Jamie. He sighed. Billie had put his pants back on. Jamie still had tears running down her face. Billie didn't know what to do. He'd blown it with Adie now. She wouldn't want him back. And he was still mad with her. Vehemently mad with her.
"Sorry." Jamie said quietly. Billie looked surprised.
"What for?" he asked. He resisted putting his arm round her shoulders.
"Well, Adrienne isn't gonna exactly greet you back with open arms is she?" Jamie whispered, the tears still coming. God, she felt stupid. She never cried.
"Well, I couldn't give a fuck what she does. Listen it isn't your fault. It's mine and Adrienne's problem therefore it's our fault." Billie frowned at his stupid choice of words.
