Serendipity Girl, chapter 14
The sun is just starting to set on the mountain. Joey, Jay, Kad and I leave out snowboards at the door and undress from our outdoor clothes as the smell of supper fills our senses.
"Where are Matt and Lil?" Tina asks as she hands Jakob a stack of plates.
"They're coming, well here they are," Matt stutters as we see them heading up to the cabin through the window.
Joey and I spent the whole morning on the slopes together, occasionally making out in the snow but mainly boarding. We came back to the cabin for lunch and then met up with Jay, Kad, Matt and Lil.
"Mom!" Jakob yelps. "Riley threw a fork at me!"
"Riley!" Holly scolds, "All day, you two have been at each other's necks, I think you were more mature as five year olds!"
"But Mom." Riley whines.
"Not another sound out of both of you," Adie says exasperated.
"HA!" Steve says bursting through the door, "I win."
"Yeah by a second," Billie protests as he comes in next, "Wait, what happened to Andrew?"
We all look out the window to see Andrew staggering behind. "The fat ass." Billie laughs.
"I'll have you know that's my husband you're talking about," Holly says clearly.
"Yeah, I know." Billie says evilly.
"You jerks!" Andrew says finally coming through the door, completely out of breath. Billie and Steve just laugh as they go over to their wives.
"D'you go snowboarding?" Billie asks after kissing his wife lightly. Us teenagers make our way into the kitchen to investigate supper.
"Of course," Adie laughs, "I beat your sister's ass." Holly just rolls her eyes.
Matt opens the oven revealing several rising crust pizzas.
"Get out of the kitchen, you're making me claustrophobic," Tina says as she shoos us over to the long banquet table. "Help set the table."
We all simultaneously roll our eyes as we got to help Riley and Jakob set the table. Within minutes we're sitting at the table gibbering and laughing while stuffing our faces with pizza. A sort of moment where you don't have any problems whatsoever.

"So what happened to you and Matt?" I ask Lil later that night. Riley and Kad were already fast asleep.
"When?"
"You arrived at the cabin like five minutes after the rest of us, I seriously doubt you hit a time warp," Lil just laughs at my wild imagination.
"So you and Joe are allowed to sneak off to do naughty things, but Matt and I aren't?"
"Uhh." I laugh quietly, "We just went snowboarding."
"So that's what you wanna call it?"
"Shut up," I say looking at the bunk below me.
"Come here and make me freak show!"
"Don't call her a freakshow," Someone hisses, I sit up and see a shadowy figure standing a the door.
"Joey?" I say back. I can see him smiling through the dark. His feet pat across the floor over to my bunk bed.
"S'cuse me Lil," He whispers as he goes up the ladder.
"You shouldn't be here!" Lil hisses angrily, "Do you know how much shit you'll get?"
Joey lies down next to me and wraps his arms around me. So comforting.
"Matt was gibbering the same thing," Joey whispers, "You two are perfect for each other, paranoid as fuck."
"I'm serious, if I hear any romping, I'm yelling," Lil warns.
"Shut up," I mumble as I snuggle against my boyfriend. "Why don't you go see Matty?"
"Yeah, Jake's been asleep for a while and Jay won't squeal." Joey adds in.
"Oh I get it." Lil says obviously disturbed, "Just keep it quiet for fuck's sake."
"Who says we're going to do that." I say appalled that she'd think of me that way. She gets up and I hear the door click open and shut.
"So you don't wanna have sex with me?" Joey asks, fake pouting.
"I didn't say that," I mumble as I peck at his lips and chin, "Just not tonight."
"Why's that?"
"For one, Kad and you're cousin is four feet away, and two I'm not ready," I state clearly.
"Okay," He says tightening his grip around me, "Can we still make out?" I laugh quietly and answer his question with an awesome kiss.

"Get up!" Someone yells startling the living shit out of me. I jolt in Joey's arms and see Billie Joe standing right there in front of my face. Moments like this and I regret claiming top bunk, which is at eye level. "I thought we made it clear guys room, girls room, no co-ed and certainly no sharing beds!" he lectures as Joey and I sit up. Good thing I denied his sex proposition and we stayed dressed.
"Dad, we didn't do anything!" Joey exclaims, "Even ask Kad and Riley, you think if we did something she'd hear?"
"I don't care if you didn't do anything, you still disobeyed your mom and I!" I put my head in my hands, I'm not much for loud noises this early in the morning.
"And Anna, I'm going to tell your parents," I let out a sigh.
"Okay." I see no sense in fighting him.
"Now get up!" he says pissed. I climb down the bunk bed ladder, Joey follows and Billie leads us out of the room.
We spot Lil and Matt sitting on the couch as Steve paces back and forth angrily.
"Sit where we can keep an eye one you." Billie says pointing at the couch. I take the seat next to Lil and Joey takes my other side.
Tina and Adie are sitting at the table talking amongst themselves, we could tell they were pissed off too.
"Where's Jake and Riley?" I whisper to Lil as I spot Kad and Jay at the top of the stairs staring interested.
"They squealed and then they were sent outside."
"We said, you could bring your girlfriends along on the condition you could follow the rules!" Steve says breaking the unbearable silence.
"We know!" Matt yells, "But you can't punish us without being hypocrites." Right now, I could tell the three of us who are not Matt are hoping he'll shut the hell up.
"Hey!" Steve barks, "Don't give me lip!"
"Well award winning kids are raised by award winning parents!"
"Just shut up!" Billie yells, "You are all grounded for the rest of the day." Joey crosses his arms as we await the sentence.
Right now I feel Adie's eye burning a hole in my skull. "You four are going to do ALL the chores around here," She says standing up, I'm sort of afraid of her now, "That means you're going to make the meals, clean up after them, cleaning the rooms, basically this is a hotel and you're the staff."
"Now," Tina says just as clearly, "Breakfast." We get up and file into the kitchen. Today was going to be hell, especially if Jakob and Riley found out about the whole 'servant' thing, they were the type to take advantage of the situation.
After spending the day waiting on everyone who came in from the slopes and making meals we finally get a break. Joey and I sit on the stair case Billie Joe comes up to us.
"Joe, I want to talk to you now." Billie is calm now, Joey stands up and follows him into the kitchen, everyone else is in the living room talking about their snowboarding excursions of the day. Lil is in the bedroom and Matt is sitting in the living room pretending to listen to the vivid story telling at hand. He and Lil got in a little tiff today, but nothing that won't be resolved by tomorrow at breakfast.
Jakob catches a glimpse of me and stands up from the coushy green sofa. He walks over to me and takes a sit on the same step.
"I didn't want to snitch on you." he says slowly, "Joey always deserves to be snitched on, he's my brother, but I'm sorry. There's not stopping Riley, she's like MEGA-snitch." I stare at him.
"What are you talking about?"
"I didn't snitch on you, Riley did." He repeats.
"O-kay."
"See, I owe you."
"What the hell are you talking about?" I say trying not to laugh.
"You're the one who gave me advice and confidence to ask Jenna out. So I owe you."
"You don't owe me," I say laughing.
"Okay fine, but thanks, thank you, 'kay?"
"Okay," I giggle, "You're welcome."
"Where are Matt and Lil?" Tina asks as she hands Jakob a stack of plates.
