The best love she ever had, chapter 1

Darlene awoke, looking at the clock on the wall that read '2:46pm'. The next thought to cross her mind -Mike.

"Lets see, New York is 4 hours ahead, making it 6:46, alright he should be in the hotel, I'll ring him up" she thought. Yawning and stretching she reaches for her phone on the table and dials Mike's hotel. "Room 236 please" she says, getting excited she might get to talk to Mike, waiting for him to pick up.

"Uh, hello?" a voice says, "Oh, hey Billie, is Mike there?" she says excitedly. "No. He went to the store,... Okay, bye."
"Wait, are you okay Billie?"
"Yeah, just dandy." Billie's voice sounds angry.
"You're lying... Come on what's the matter? You know I'm here for you." Darlene says wondering what is up.
"I know, sorry, I just, I'm kind of busy. There will be something in the note for you, darlene. Take care now, bye."
"Wai-" Darlene is stopped by the clicking of Billie's phone, she sadly hangs up her phone and lays it next to her.

"I wish he would tell me what's wrong... Wait." A confused expression crosses her face.
"What note? Note? Why is he-" she stops herself, realising she already knew the answer to the question she was about to ask.
Her hands start to shake as she reaches for the phone, once again calling the hotel number she now has memorized.
'Ring, ring, ring. ' all she hears as she prays that Billie answers.
After the tenth ring she about gives up hope and starts to cry, hoping she wasn't too late.

Right as her finger reaches the off button she hears a click.
"BILLIE?! ' she yells, her voice cracking and her hands shaking.
"Da-Darlene, I'm... I'm sorry." Billie says in almost a whisper.
"Billie? Sorry for what? What did you do?" she says so fast she hardly understood herself.

She hears the phone on the other line drop to the floor making a smashing sound.
