Look What Happened, chapter 2

I arrived at Emma's house in the middle of the night. Tre' and Emma were on the couch asleep, and there were two other guys there laying on the other vacant chairs in the living room. This wasn't a surprise to me, because Tre' has lots of friends that are always at her house, eating her food. Emma heard me come in and woke up, alarmed, not knowing whom I was. She was relived when she saw it was me, and slunk back down into her spot, next to Tre'.
"What are you doing here?" She asked sleepily.
"You remember when we were thirteen," I said, "And we were having a fight over the phone?"
"I guess so." She rolled her eyes at me.
"Well, remember in that conversation. I told you that if my dad ever hit me, I would leave?" I asked.
"Yea, so what's your point." She said.
"And you said that if I was ever going to leave, to come here first?" I said.
"Ye... " I cut her off.
"I came here first." I said blankly.

"He hit you?" She said in confusion. By that time, Tre' and the two other men were awake, trying to grasp what was going on.
"Yes." I said. One of the two men broke the silence, by getting up and turning on the light. I recognized the figure instantly.
"Billie?" I said almost crying. I ran over to him and he wrapped me in a hug.
"Honey, what happened?" He said soothingly. Billie had been my boyfriend for about two years now. I was ashamed of myself that I didn't recognize him right away. I went into the kitchen of Emma's house and explained to him exactly what happened. By that time, he had seen my eye and arm.
"He did this to you?" he asked me.
"Yes. That's why I left." I said.

"Do you need a place to stay?" He asked kindly.
"Yea." I said
"You can stay with me, honey, I won't let that ever happen again." He said, hugging me again. I cried into his chest for a good 15 minutes, and then we returned to the living room and sat down together in a chair. At that point, I knew who the other figure was.
"Mikey!" I said.
"Yep!" he said, hugging me. Billie gave me the evil eye, and I pulled away from him, and sat on Billie's lap. He took another look at my eye, and went to get me some ice. He's such a good guy. As soon as he came back, the questions started from eyeryone:

"What happened?" Tre' said, just waking up.
"What did you say?" Mike asked.
"What did you do?" Emma said.
"Why would you let him do that?" Billie asked me.
"What did he hit you with?" Tre' said, once he got the picture.
"Where are you going to go?" Emma said.
"What are you going to do?" Mike said.
"Is your mom going to stay with him?" Mike said.
"What about Sam and Jeff?" Emma asked.
"Why?" Billie said. I couldn't bring myself to answer all those questions. I didn't even know the answers. I walked out of the room and went to the guest room. Billie followed me, but I wasn't sure that I wanted him to be in there with me. We fell asleep, and didn't speak for the rest of the night. No one needed to.

The next day:
I woke up at Billie's side. I felt a sense of empowerment. I wasn't apart of their lives anymore. I could do what ever I wanted to do. Billie woke up, and kissed me. He's the sweetest man that I've ever met. We went downstairs and ate breakfast, then we got dressed and did all that shit.
"Billie?" I said, "Since my parents aren't here to tell me what I can't do, today, I'm going to do everything that I've always wanted to do."
"Like what?" He said.
"I'll show you," I answered, "Come on!" We left the house after telling everyone where that we were going out, and that we'd be back.
