How Green Day Got Their Name, chapter 1
Once upon a time (well how else did you thing this was gonna start? ) there were three kids Billie Joe Mike and Tre. These three were the only kids in the town that knew what punk music was. Saddly nither of them had met yet.
One day Mike was wakling to the store for some nachos and other munchies when he slamed into Tre. Tre being alittle unstable that day procceded to get up and tackle Mike and said " If you wanted to mosh atleast wait till music is playing." Stunded that he even knew what moshing was, Mike asked Tre what his name is and if knew any thing else about punk rock and rock music.
As they were talking Billie Joe over heard them and asked if they ever heard of Operation Ivy. Mike and Tre's heads snaped to see who said that. Billie Joe giving a smeerk waived at them and started to walk away assumeing that they were just as clueless as the others in town. To his surprise they both started singing knowledge. Billie quickly joined in. Mike said "Hey, you sing pretty damn good you play an instrument?"
"Yeah guitar." Billie answerd
"Sweet I play bass. What about you Tre?"
" Umm? Yeah! I play drums."
All of them shouted cool and they decided to form a band.
It had been some time and they still had know idea what to call their band. While walking through their boring little town they saw this green haze coming from the new store that just opened .
Billie Joe, Mike and Tre heard the sounds of Bob Marley and Jimmy Hendrix blasting threw the front door. They Being saddly nieve 18 year olds walked in. They were greeted by this thick green smoke that smelled like nothing they had ever smelled before. Then sudely this girl popped up from behind the cuonter. " Like can I help you dudes?" said the red eyed cashier. Billie Joe being the braver of the three said "yeah what kind of shop is this? what is all this stuff? What is your name?" Just then all along the watch tower came on. The girl called for her friend, Chibba Moneky, to bring her out the party pipe. He poked his head out of the beaded curtain. He went back in and brought out what looked like a purple pipe with five hoses attached. The gril said "My name is Mary Jane. This is a head shop, those are bongs, these are bowls and that is incense to cover up they smell of bud." So they sparked the bong and smoked. Billie Joe, Mike and Tre and the two clerks where as baked as a batch brownies. Chibba Moneky, in a phylasophical moment said "their is nothing like a good green day." The kids all looked at eachother and shouted "that's it we'll call the band Green Day!" The rest is history.
Ok so maybe it didn't happen exactly this way but it made for an interesting story. Well at least I thought so.
