The New Jesus (Sequel to 'Cigarettes and Valentines'), chapter 2

I arrived at the firm. The kid on the platform had me thinking, Tunny had made it big in the music industry, could that have been his 'kid in New York'?
I dismissed it as a coincidence, a freaky coincidence. I approached my receptionist's desk on floor 12...
12...
*Flashback*

"Kid! Get your ass out of my store if you're not buying anything!" yelled the overweight 7/11 manager.
I rolled my eyes and kicked down a stand of potato chips while walking out.
It was a freezing cold night and someone had put out the fire on the sidewalk.
I approached 12th Blvd. turning onto the street, that's where I found her. Lying there, half naked, freezing and bleeding. I knelt down to check for a pulse, sure enough she was breathing. I picked her up, not the first time I had found Maria on the street.
It confused me, she'd never hurt nobody, yet everyone managed to hurt her.
I laid her down on my bed. She was beautiful, regardless of anything,

"Sir, sir... you ok?" Liz, my receptionist, asked.
"Yes, sorry, I'm fine. Zoned out I guess... " I said while faking a brief laugh.
"Ah... alright then I suppose. 1 message, a kid, I wasn't sure if it was a prank or maybe a juvenile client, Tunleah... "
"Is he still on the line?" I asked immediately after hearing the name.
"No, but he did request for you to meet him at 12pm, on the station platform." She said reading off the note.
I looked down at my watch, 11:30am.
"Um, cancel the rest of my meetings for the day." I said before running to the elevator.

I made it to the station at 11:55am. 5 minutes early. I trudged around the station, after I had arrived on that night I spent a few weeks sleeping on this platform. Not a lot had changed in the past 5 years. I saw Tunleah trying to talk up a random girl on the platform. I felt the need to go over and steal her away from him, or at least try to, me and Tunny always used to compete over random girls. A devilish grin swept over my face.
After she knocked him back I walked up to him.

"So, you called my office before I even had a chance to get there." I said, looking at the joint he was so casually smoking. He looked at the joint and held it out to me. I shook my head. He shrugged it off.

"I didn't know how long it would be until I managed to get my hands on buck to call you." He said, looking down.

"Ah, well in that case, I'm James, James Pritchard." I said extending my hand once again.

"I know exactly who you are, Jesus." He replied, looking up only to see my reaction.

I held a straight face.
"Jesus?" I asked in a mock horror way.

"Don't play games with me. You're the Jesus of Suburbia. That's how you knew my name. Why did you think I called you? I realized after you mentioned my dad before." He said before stubbing the end on the joint out on his wrist.

"So you are Tunny's son?" I asked immediately.

"Yeah, I don't see why my dad was so annoyed at you leaving, you don't seem all that special." He said while smirking at me.

"You are a very charming being aren't you." I rolled my eyes before continuing. "So, how is your old man, if you don't mind me asking."

"I wouldn't have a clue. I was 7 when he walked out on me and my mum." He said. "Left us in Berkeley to rot, mum died a year later, heroin overdose. So I figured I had no future there, the Lost and Found was getting too crowded for my liking so I left. Been bumming around here ever since."

His openness didn't surprise me. His dad was exactly the same, was exactly the same...

*Flashback*

"So I said to no way man, and she was like, um, yeah. And so I left and walked to the... ." Tunny said before I interrupted him.
"Tunny I am NOT in the mood for your ENTIRE life story." I spat at him before rolling over to look at the clock. 4:09am.

*End Flashback*

"C'mon then, you need a place to sleep I assume." I said before walking towards my apartment, pretty confident that he would follow.
