In The End It Doesn't Even Matter-Sequel To, "Tell Me Who You Love!", chapter 7
"Cassie!" I hear someone call. I quickly pull away from Billie and shove the package in my pocket. I hear footsteps coming closer and I shuffle away from Billie slightly.
"There you are!" Tre says, taking my hand.
"Adrienne wants you to come and help her with the drinks as I've broken two glasses already." He says. I can see out of the corner of my eye Billie giggling at me and behind my back I give him the finger.
"Ok I'll be right there." I say. Tre gives me a quick peck on the cheek and heads back into the house.
"I saw that." Billie whispers in my ear, giving my bum a pat. I giggle and give him a light push.
"You deserved it." I protest. He gasps, mock shocked. He takes my hands and gives me a quick kiss on the lips, but then moves in again, giving me a deeper kiss. I respond for a while.
"Billie... .I really... ..need... ..to... get back to Tre and Adrienne." I say, between him giving me kisses. He sighs and lets me go.
I walk back up to the house and smile as I see Tre sat on the sofa.
"Hey babe." he says.
"Hiya, where's Adrienne?" I ask.
"In the kitchen." He says, sticking his thumb in the direction of the kitchen.
"Thanks." I say, heading for the room.
"Erm, Tre said you needed some help." I say as I enter the room, finding her squinting at a champagne bottle.
"Oh, yeah! Thanks!" She says, placing the bottle on the side.
"I don't know why Billie wanted this blinkin champagne! He just said to make it special. Oh I don't know, he has so many ideas going on in his head that man." She adds.
I giggle slightly.
"Yeah I know, always has done." I say. "So what would you like me to do?" I ask.
"If you could grab those glasses there, without dropping them like Tre did and pour some of this into them." She suggests.
"I never let Tre near our china." I say, pouring the sparkling bubbly substance into the glass carefully.
"I don't blame you. That man is the clumsiest person alive!" She laughs.
I laugh back nervously. She was being so nice to me that I felt so guilty. But a part of me had to stop myself from smashing a champagne glass on her head. I could tell what Billie saw in her, she was beautiful and kind rolled in one.
"Ok, lets take these into the lounge." She says, picking up the tray, which now has 4 glasses of champagne on and the half full bottle. I follow her in and see Billie and Tre in deep conversation.
"What are you two talking about?" Adie asks, placing the tray on the coffee table.
"Stuff." Tre says awkwardly. I laugh and sit down next to him. Adie picks up two glasses, hands one to Billie and places herself next to him on the chair.
"Thanks babe." Billie says, taking the glass from her and holding her free hand, rubbing it softly. I stare down at their two hand entwined, their wedding rings shinning more brightly than usual, almost blinding me.
"I hear you and Tre have another child?" Adie starts.
"Er, yeah Jack, he's about 6 months old now." I reply.
"So that's Abby, Louise and Jack now?"
"Amy and Louisa." I correct, trying not to hide the anger in my voice.
"Oh, sorry." She says.
About 2 hours and multiple glasses of champagne later, I have to say I'm feeling slightly tipsy. But that isn't bad compared to Billie and Tre, who are totally pissed. Leaving Adrienne the sober one.
"I have to say Cassie, you are by far the most beautiful person here." Billie slurs, waving his glass around in the air, slopping champagne over the side.
I giggle slightly, looking out of the corner of my eye to Adrienne who has a frown upon her face.
"And you Billie, are the handsomest man on earth." I play along, trying to look unbothered.
"But, after Tre of course." I say.
"Shame, did Tre ever tell you he's only got one ball?" Billie asks randomly.
I feel myself go red a little. "Erm, yes he did, don't forget Billie, I have fucked Tre you know." He gasps, his eyes widening.
"You lost your virginity to... .to... Tre!" He shouts. "What about me?" He adds. I feel my heart skip a beat. At least he's pissed and has a reason to be saying so many awkward stuff, almost letting slip about him and I.
"Im sorry." I laugh.
"Pass me a lighter Tre." He commands. Tre reached forward, his hands banging clumsily on the table, and throws the lighter to Billie. Unfortunately, it catches him on the cheek.
"Oooowwwwwww!" Billie wails, sending us all into fits of laughter. Billie sticks out his bottom lip, his eyes settling into their famous 'puppy dog' style, and walks over to me.
"Kiss it better." He sobs, pointing to his cheek. I giggle and look over to Adrienne, who is sat chewing on her thumb, gnawing the skin away. I lean forward to give him peck on the cheek. Billie quickly turns his head, so I catch him on the lips.
I try to pull away but I can't as he's caught me in an awkward position. Oh fuck it. He's drunk and it's simply an innocent drunken kiss. I close my eyes as I feel his tongue worm it's way into my mouth, skimming my teeth.
He pulls away and I nervously glance at Tre who is staring at me with disappointment, almost looking sober. I look over at Adrienne, who is concentrating so hard on her thumb, and I watch as a tear falls from her eyes.
I signal I should be leaving, I can't stand to watch her get hurt because of me.
"Come on Tre, get up, we're going to make our way home now." I say, pulling on his arm, urging him to lift his ass from the floor.
"But, I'm not even drunk yet." He protests.
"I think you've had enough drink. Thanks Billie. Thanks Adie. Nice meeting again. See you around." I mumble, dragging Tre to the door.
"Bye!" Billie squeals, waving frantically.
"Yeah, bye." Adrienne mumbles, sniffing.
"You're in deep shit." I whisper to Billie as I pass him on the way to the door.
"What! Where'd that dog go? I'll shoot it if it shits around the house again! My new shoes!" He shouts. But somehow, I think he gets what he means as he gives Adie worried looks.
"Come on Tre, belt up." I say, starting up the car. I look over to the front door of Billie's house. I can see Adrienne already moaning at him. I sigh. He was right, things would always be complicated.
"Right, we'll go home and then first thing in the morning we'll pick up the kids, ok?" I ask Tre. There's no response. I look over to him and see his head lolling on his shoulder, saliva dribbling down his chin.
I roll my eyes and drive home, leaving Billie to get shouted at by his unhappy wife. Never again.
"There you are!" Tre says, taking my hand.
