Wicked Wishes, chapter 4
Chadd woke up the next morning feeling sick after sitting with Riot. She hadn't smoked anything like that in a long time. She pressed herself against the bathroom and was she vomited into the toilet. She coughed and walked into the living room. She threw herself on the couch, spread out and buried her face into the pillow. She coughed again and closed her eyes. She heard the boom of thunder and crack of lightening. She lifted her head. The power had just went out. She was sitting there in the pitch black. She looked around for her cell phone. When she picked it up she dialed Riots cell. Billie answered the phone.
"Jesus Christ! Jakob hold on!" She could hear some one crying in the back ground.
"Adie!?" He yelled. "Would you come and get him? Hello?"
"Is Riot there?" She mumbled.
"Hold on. He's taking a piss. Who is this?"
"Chadd."
"Oh. Your powers out too?"
"Yeah." She told him.
"I'm trying to calm Jakob down. He doesn't like the dark."
"I can hear him crying."
"Yeah, Adie!" He yelled again.
"I'm coming. God!" She yelled back.
"Alright here he is."
"Hi. Your powers out too?" Riot asked.
"Do you have like candles and stuff?"
"Nope." She told him.
"So you're sitting there in the dark?"
"Yup."
"Oh hold on." She waited two minuets.
"Is it alright if I come over there? We've got shitloads of candles here."
"I don't care."
"Alright. I'll be right there." Chadd didn't like sitting alone in the dark. She didn't live in the nicest neighborhood. She jumped when she herd Riot knock on the door.
"Jesus Christ! Its like hell trying to get up those steps in the dark." He had a flashlight and a plastic bag full of candles. She laughed and let him in. She helped put the candles around the apartment. He put a big flashlight lantern on the middle of the coffee table and sat down on the couch. She sat down next to to him. He yawned and stretched his arms out, putting of them behind her.
"What are you doing?" she smiled.
"Nothing." He laughed as he pulled her into him. She laughed ruffling his hair and kissing him. Her hands were on his shoulders. She felt her emotion drain from her again and everything else in her very rattled mind leave accept Riot. When the finally pulled away from each other they say in silence.
"Riot?"
"Yeah?" He said rubbing her check. She pushed his hand away.
"Why do you really have all those bruises on you?"
He didn't answer right away.
"I... ummm..." He stuttered to make the words come out right.
"Tell me Riot! Please!" She pleaded with him.
"My dad."
"Your dad what?" She asked him confused.
"My dad hits me. Its not the first time he's done it." She could see he looked upset again.
"Why?" This time she was willing to push it.
"I don't know he just gets mad some times."
"Does Billie know?"
"He suspects something. I told him the same thing I told you, that I tripped. But Billie knows. I'm just waiting for him to ask me something. Thank god he hasn't."
"Why didn't you say anything?"
"I didn't want you to worry." He didn't look at her. Chadd looked the other way. Chadd had never felt this close to some one. She had always kept her emotions out of things just to be safe. But in her heart she could feel herself beginning to cling to Riot. She didn't think that was a good Idea. She might get hurt. She was going to have to stop herself from getting any closer to him. Her mind was telling her to let him go but her hurt was telling him to let her stay. She agreed with her mind.
"I think you should go." She said to him.
"Yeah." He nodded. He got up and left without another word to her.

The Next day Chadd went for a walk by her self. She went to Rudy's Cant Fail Café. She sat down at a table near the back wall. She noticed Mike was talking to a waitress. She hid her face in the menu hoping he would see her. To late... .
"Aren't you Riots girlfriend?" Mike asked sitting across from her. She shook her head.
"No. We are just friends." Not only was she lying to Mike she was lying to herself about that.
"Oh, Ok. I guess I was wrong about you two then."
"I guess you were." She didn't mean to sound rude. It's just they way it came out.
"I guess I'll see you around." He got up and walked to another waitress.
She didn't order much. Just some fries and something to drink.
She kicked the pavement as she walked home. She stopped and sat the docks watching the boats come in and out. She looked in the water. She could see small fish and a few dead fish. She was used to the smell by now. No matter where you went in Oakland you could smell it. The whole city smelled of fish and dirty water, but you got used to it after awhile.
Chadd went home and laid around the house. Bored out of her mind. The phone rang. It was Mark.
"Hi."
"What is it?" She asked him annoyed.
"We are going to the Gilman tonight if you want to come. Meet us there at seven."
"Ok." She hung up. She looked out the window. It was still drizzling.
At The Gilman she and her band mates pushed past the moshing crowd to get a seat in the back of the warehouse. She watched as teenagers bought beer from the local druggies.
"Who's playing?" Bayzer yelled over the roar of the speakers.
"The Raging." Mark yelled back.
"They suck!" Sony yelled looking up at the stage. Chadd nodded in agreement.
"They are getting a new drummer though." She yelled to her friends.
She ended up moshing with everyone else in the end though. As she stood there jumping up and down and being pushed around by the crowd she felt some one wrap their arms around her waist. She turned around. It was Riot.
"Hi." He yelled kissing her. She was shocked. She had been doing her best to avoid him and here he was kissing her in front of all these people. Bayzer was watching them. Chadd couldn't help her self. She hugged him and ruffled his hair. He smiled at her. It was around 1 o'clock when she finally went home. Riot walked home with her.
"The raging were ok." He told her as he walked back to her apartment. He was holding her hand.
"Yeah they did ok." She agreed.
"So you're coming to school tomorrow?" She nodded.
"Cool. I won't be all alone then."
"I don't want go back though. It will suck."
It's always sucked." He informed her. "And it always will."
"I know!" She moaned kissing him good night.
"I'll see you tomorrow whether I like it or not." She said opening the door to the building. He smiled and started to walk down the street. She watched as he walked away. It was true she would see him whether or not she wanted too. She dragged her feet walking back up the stairs to her apartment.
"Jesus Christ! Jakob hold on!" She could hear some one crying in the back ground.
"Adie!?" He yelled. "Would you come and get him? Hello?"
