Wicked Wishes, chapter 6
David drove Chadd to school the next day. "You aren't going to see that boy again are you?" David asked in the car.
"No." Another lie. Chadd put her feet on the dashboard.
"Good."
Chadd got out of the car and walked over to where Bayzer was standing. David waved good bye. "He needs a girlfriend, or a boyfriend. I don't care he just needs to get of my case." Chadd said to Bayzer. Bayzer laughed.
After school the two of them waited outside on the front steps. "You might want to watch Riot." Bayzer said to her.
"Why?" Chadd asked.
"Ryan was bragging about Billie being their uncle at lunch today so now you know girls are going to be all over him. How is it going with you to anyway?"
"I love him." Chadd said. She was unsure if Bayzer would believe her. She waited for Bayzers reaction.
"I believe you." Bayzer said after awhile.
"You do?" Chadd said surprised.
"Yeah, I mean Chadd you've gone out with a lot of boys and you've never said that about the other ones so yeah I believe you. You can tell Riot loves you by the way he talks about you."
"When did you talk to him?"
"Science. We have the same science class."
"Hold on. I forgot my math book." Chadd grabbed her books and stood up to go back into the school but was pushed back when her books were thrown all over the pavement. She looked and saw Ryan laughing. She raised her fist to punch him but let out a cry of pain when he grabbed a clump of her hair and jerked her head back.
"Don't." He sneered. Chadd felt a sharp pain in the back of her neck.
Chadd Reached into her pocket with him still holding onto her head. She fingered the pocket knife she had. She heard the small click and felt the spring come back inside her pocket as the blade came out. She felt another jerk and her head was let go. She dropped on the pavement. She got up and noticed Riot and his arms around his Brothers neck. Ryan being Bigger pulled him off and threw him on the ground. Riot rolled a few feet. He was just lying there. She stood there and then ran over to him lying on the ground. He had a cut under his eye that was bleeding and a wide gash next to his eyebrow and the angle his shoulder was at just didn't seem right. She looked at Ryan who was looking at his brother.
Shocked at what he had done. Chadd was about to lunge at Ryan with her pocket knife but then than the principle walked out. Chadd clicked the blade back inside the pocket knife. Riot opened his eyes and tried to sit up but screamed when he put weight on his left shoulder. He laid back down and rolled over cringed in pain. The Principal took one look at Riot and walked back into the school. About twenty minuets later Riot was taken to the emergency room and Ryan stayed in school until Billie came and talked to the principal. Billie then took Chadd to the emergency room with him.
Chadd got inside Billie's blue truck. "How the hell did this happen?" Billie asked Chadd. He was shocked. Chadd explained about who Ryan had grabbed her head and Riot had been chocking him.
Billie coughed and drummed his fingers on the steering wheel. He put a cigarette in his mouth and cussed under his breath when the lighter didn't work. He reached into the glove compartment and pulled out a different one. He started the car and drove out of the parking lot.
"Do you think you should call some one?" Billie asked Chadd.
She nodded. He handed her his cell phone. She dialed her home phone and David answered.
"Chadd? Why aren't you home yet?"
"Do you remember James?"
"You mean the kid that had his hand up your shirt? Yeah."
Billie's phone must have been loud because he most have heard that. His hands slipped of the steering wheel and he accidentally honked the horn. Billie sighed and repositioned his hands.
"Well he's in the emergency room and I'm going to see him with his uncle." She said and hung up the phone. She gave it back to Billie.
The phone rang again. "Huh?" Billie said when he answered it. "Adie?" He talked on the phone for awhile.
They drove into the parking lot. Billie reached over her and unlocked the door. She got out and followed him through the sliding glass doors. They took an elevator a few floors up. On the fifth floor Billie walked over to a lady sitting at a desk.
"Can I help you?" She said not looking up from her papers.
"Yeah you can. I'm looking for James Armstrong."
"Second door to your right." She said still not looking up.
"Thanks." Billie walked down the hallway. Chadd followed him. Chadd saw Riot's mom standing in the hallway. She had a white lab coat on.
"I didn't know Riot's mom was a doctor." Billie nodded.
"What's wrong with him?" Billie asked walking over to his sister.
"He dislocated his shoulder and sprained his elbow and we can't pop his shoulder back because of his elbow so we've just numbed his entire arm. Oh and he's getting stitches for his eye."
Chadd walked into the room where Riot was. He was asleep. She looked at his shoulder and how it hung stupidly at his side.
"Well, I've got other patients." His mom said walking out the door.
Billie backed up and looked out the hallway. "You know what? I'll be right back." He said walking after his sister. Chadd sat on the end of Riots bed and stared at him. He turned over and mumbled something in his sleep. It sounded like "dumb shit."
She poked him on the unhurt shoulder. "You're awake aren't you?" After awhile he sat up and looked at her. He was resting his weight on the unhurt shoulder. She wasn't sure what to say so instead she kissed him. It was over whelming and made him lay back a bit but he caught himself. Billie walked back into the room.
"Well you're awake." He said as they pulled apart. Billie sat down in a chair. Adie walked into the room followed by Ryan.
"Sit!" She said to Ryan as if he were a dog. She pointed to the chair next to Billie.
Ryan opened his mouth to speak but shut it when he noticed Billie was watching him, waiting for him to say something disrespectful to Adie.
Adie sat on the bed across from the one Riot and Chadd were sitting on.
A doctor walked into the room and over to Riot. He touched his arm a few times. Riot didn't move he couldn't feel his arm. The doctor grabbed a hold of his arm right above his should and put his other hand on his collar bone and pushed as hard as he could.
There was a loud popping sound. Adie looked a bit shocked. "There now that you shoulder is back we can fix your elbow." The doctor said.
Chadds P.O.V
After Riot got a cast and his cut stitched up he was aloud to go home. Billie gave me a ride home. The Three of us crammed inside Billie's Blue truck. Riot had his hand on my knee all the way there. When Billie stopped in front of my apartment both Riot and I got out of the car. We kissed for awhile. I could feel his tongue on the roof of my mouth. He sighed and got back in the truck.
