Adie! Can't You See How Much I Love You?, chapter 1

April 2003


"STOP IT!"
I looked up from the recipe book I was reading, soon after this outburst crying erupted from the living room where my two sons were. Before I continue, my name is Adrienne Armstrong, my husband, Billie Joe is in the band Green Day. Billie and I have two sons, Joey and Jakob. My youngest son, Jakob came running into the kitchen, I walked around the island and squatted down to his level. "Jakey what happened?"
I hugged him as he cried. "J... J... Joey h... h... hit m... me."
I frowned. "Joseph Marcicano Armstrong get out here now!"
Joey sulked into the kitchen. "Yeah mommy?"
I sighed. "Why did you hit Jakob?"
Joey shot a nasty look Jakob's way. "Because he was annoying me and he wouldn't stop when I asked him to."
I sighed. "Joey you can't hit him, it's not nice."
Joey became frustrated. "But mom he wouldn't stop."
I shook my head. "Well I don't care, if he bothered you so much, you should have come and told me or you could have just ignored him."
Joey shot another look Jakob's way. "Now both of you follow me."
I walked into the living room, the boys followed. I grabbed Jakob and set him down in a chair. "Jakey you stay here and don't bother Joey. Ok?"
Jakob shook his head. "Ok mommy."
I looked over at Joey. "Now Joey, you sit right there and stay put. Just ignore Jakob if he annoys you. Ok?"
Joey sat down and nodded. "Ok mommy."
I walked back into the kitchen to finish dinner.

Billie Joe was away promoting his new album Shenanigans. So it was just me and the boys. "Come on guys' time for bed. You both have school tomorrow."
They both whined. "Awe mommy can't we stay home? We miss daddy."
I sighed. "I know you do, I miss daddy too. But right now his fans need him."
They got up and walked up to their rooms. "Remember to brush your teeth and change into your pajamas."
They both sighed. "We know mommy."
I laughed and shook my head. I gave the boys a few minutes to get ready and made my way upstairs to say goodnight. I walked into Joey's room first, because it was the first room. "Goodnight Joey. I love you."
Joey got himself comfortable. "Goodnight mommy. I love you too."
I smiled and kissed his forehead, and then I got up and turned off his light and made my way down the hall to Jakob's room. "Goodnight Jakey. I love you."
Jakob smiled. "Goodnight mommy. I love you twoo."
I laughed and kissed his forehead too. I walked downstairs and curled up on the couch to watch TV. At around 11 I got up and went upstairs. I brushed my teeth and changed my clothes. "Oh fuck this bed is cold."
I am so used to having Billie there with me and he was usually in bed before me to warm it up. (I'm sensitive to cold.)

Beep Beep Beep Beep. I got up and got myself ready for the day. I went downstairs to make breakfast for the boys. At 7:30 I went upstairs. "Joey its time to get up. Come on hunny."
Joey sat up and rubbed his eyes, he walked into the bathroom while I went to wake up Jakob. "Come on Jakey, you gotta get ready for school."
Jakob moaned with protest but got up to get ready anyway. I went back downstairs and put out breakfast for the boys'. "Mommy do I have to go to school today?"
I looked at Joey as I set a plate of eggs and toast in front of Jakob. "If Joey can stay home, then can I?"
I turned my head to Jakob. "No both of you are going to school."
They both sighed in protest. A few minutes later Joey and Jakob had inhaled their breakfast. "Ok guys come on we gotta get to school."
They dragged their feet to the car. Literally. "Mommy please can we stay home?"
I looked at Joey in the rearview mirror and frowned at the look on his face. "Why don't you want to go to school Joey?"
He stared back at me. "Because the older kids say things about daddy and it makes me sad."
I smiled at his puppy dog eyes Billie taught him well. "Joey you shouldn't listen to what they say, it's just like last night when Jakob was annoying you. I told you to ignore him and it worked right?"
Joey nodded. "Yeah it did."
I smiled. "Well just do the same thing when those kids bother you at school."
Joey smiled. "Ok mommy."
I pulled up at the school and brought Joey and Jakob to their classes.


Later that day

Today was just a boring day for me, I went grocery shopping and cleaned the house (how fun right!) I sat in the kitchen, I missed Billie so much. He was all I could think about it seemed. Suddenly a pair of arms wrapped around my waist, I spun around and found myself looking into the beautiful green eyes of my husband of eight years. "Oh my god Billie your home!" I smiled and wrapped my arms around his neck as we kissed. Billie pulled away. "I missed you so fucking much."
I laughed. "I missed you too babe."
We started kissing again and Billie Joe scooped me up in his arms and brought me upstairs, he laid me on the bed and got on top of me. "Oh wow you really missed me didn't you?"
Billie had practically ripped my clothes off. "Yeah I did, I mean masturbating gets boring after a while, unless you're Tre that is."
We laughed and went back to having sex. "I love you so fucking much Adie."
I smiled and kissed Billie. "I love you too Billie."
I looked at the clock. "I have to go pick up Joey and Jakob from school."
Billie smiled. "Ok I'll come too!"
I shook my head. "No let's surprise them. I'll go get them and not say anything and you just sit here and chill, they will come running in here and freak out. They've missed you so much. All they've been asking is 'When is daddy coming home?' so they will be happy."
Billie nodded in agreement. "Yeah that's a great idea."
I smiled and kissed Billie.

I drove to the school and walked inside to get Joey and Jakob. The ride home was quiet. "Mommy is something wrong?"
I looked at Joey. "No hunny, why do you ask?"
Joey shrugged. "I don't know you always ask us stuff about our day and today you didn't."
Billie loved to hear about the boys' day so I didn't ask because I knew they would tell Billie. "Oh well I guess it just slipped my mind today, how about I ask you over dinner so we all have something to talk about."
Joey eyed me weirdly. "Ok mommy."
I laughed as he said that slowly. "Mommy when is daddy coming home?"
The infamous question. I knew it would come. "In a few months Joey. Why do you ask?"
Joey shrugged. "I don't know, I just thought maybe he came home today and that was why you didn't ask us about our day."
Goddamn. I swear that kid is way smarter than he looks. "No hunny."
I laughed. "If daddy came home today I would have told you guys. I always tell you that he's home. Why would today be different?"
Jakob looked confused. Though I can't blame him because that statement confused me a little bit and I went to college! "So are you saying that daddy is home right now?"
Jakob was so excited. I frowned and shook my head, I hated lying them but they would ruin the surprise. "No Jakey, daddy isn't home. You know he wouldn't be home till June."
Jakob and Joey sighed and looked out the windows at the passing landscape. I frowned, they hated it when Billie was gone, and I did too. But I knew they would be so happy when they got home.

We finally got home. "Do you guys have homework?"
They both shook their heads. "Ok well I want you two to do it when we get inside."
They shook their heads. "Yes mommy."
I smiled as they said this together. I unlocked the front door and walked in, the boys' ran inside. They went to the kitchen and started on their homework like every other day. I looked around Billie was now where to be found. "Mommy I'm hungry can I have a peanut butter and jelly sandwich?"
I looked at Jakob and smiled. "Sure sweetie. Joey do you want one too?"
Joey shook his head. "I WANT ONE TOO!"
Joey and Jakob froze, they both looked around. The sound of someone running down the stairs was heard in the silent kitchen. Then who ever was running down the stairs tripped. "OW!"
I burst out laughing. The boys' looked at me. Joey opened his mouth to speak but was cut off. "Adie don't forget I like banana's and crushed Doritos on my sandwich."
The boys' spun around. "UNCLE TRE!"
They both jumped out of their seats and ran to Tre. "Hey guys how ya been?"
They both nodded. "We've been missing you guys."
They said. I have no clue why they nodded. Too much excitement I guess. Joey turned to me. "Mommy you lied."
I shook my head. "No I didn't you asked if daddy was home not if Uncle Tre was home."
Before Joey could say another word he was once again cut off. "What about Uncle Mike? Don't I get a hug too?"
Mike made a pouting face. The boys' ran over to him. "Hi Uncle Mike."
Joey looked at me again. "Where is da... ?"
Before he could finish Billie Joe had scooped him up. Joey's eyes went wide when he saw who was holding him and Jakob's did too. "DADDY!"
Jakob ran over to Billie who also picked him up. Suddenly both Joey and Jakob were talking at once. "Whoa one at a time guys."
They both stopped. "Here ya go boys."
I gave them their sandwiches and they sat down to eat. "Hey what about my Doritos?"
I smirked. "Sorry Tre I forgot to pick up more for you. I wasn't expecting you guys to be home this early."
Tre shrugged and took a huge bite of his sandwich anyway. Joey and Jakob snickered as they watched Tre eat, in fact we all did. Tre sensed he was being watched and stopped midway to his mouth. "What are you guys looking at?"
We all laughed. "We're watching you eat Tre."
Tre frowned. "Why do I have jelly on my nose?"
He began to wipe his nose, obsessively. "No Tre, we were watching you eat because you were inhaling the sandwich."
Tre stopped. "Oh."
He went back to his sandwich. "Daddy when did you get home?"
Billie smiled. "A few hours ago."
Joey frowned and looked at me. "Mommy you did lie."
I shook my head. "NO this was a surprise. And I couldn't tell you guys or it would ruin the surprise."
Jakob frowned. "So Uncle Mike and Uncle Tre are the surprise too right?"
I shook my head. "No daddy came home and I told him to stay here and we would surprise you guys but I guess Uncle Mike and Uncle Tre got invited here after I left."
Billie smiled. "What? They wanted to see the boys and you."
I laughed. Tre put his plate in the sink. "Thank you for the sandwich Adie, it was great."
I smiled. "You're welcome Tre."
Mike got up. "I better get going. I haven't seen Hero yet."
We said our goodbyes to Mike. "Yeah I better get going too. Claudia doesn't know I came home."
I frowned. "Where are your cars?"
They both looked at me. "It's a good thing you don't park your car in the garage Adie."
I laughed. Mike and Tre said they're goodbyes and walked out into the garage and drove to their homes. The boys' finished their homework and ran outside to play with Billie.

A few hours later

By this time the boys' would have been fighting but Billie was home so they where pre occupied and I didn't mind one bit. "Mommy what's for dinner?"
I smiled as Billie walked in looking at me like a little kid. "Your favorite."
His eyes lit up and he sang. "Vegetarian lasagna, Vegetarian lasagna, Vegetarian lasagna."
I laughed. "I missed that a lot."
Billie stopped and kissed me. "Well I missed that a lot."
He wrapped his arms around my waist and I could feel his hands travel down my back only to rest on my butt. "I missed that the most though."
I smiled as he whispered this in my ear. I knew he meant my body in general. "I missed your touch and your kiss."
I kissed his neck. "I love you Billie."
He kissed me back as his hands explored my body. "I love you too Adie."
I smiled, I loved his touch. The way his callused hands felt on my soft skin was unexplainable. "Daddy what are you doing to mommy?"
Billie and I pulled away from each other and saw Joey and Jakob covering their eyes. "Its ok guys you can look now."
They both looked at us. "Come on guys sit down, its time to eat."
They all ran over to the table and sat down. "Babe this is great, you always make it just the way I like it."
I smiled. "Thanks babe."
The boys nodded in agreement.

After dinner I put the dishes in the dish washer and joined Billie and the boys in the living room. "What are you guys watching?"
Billie shrugged. "Aha we were thinking of watching a movie."
The boys' had themselves glued to their father, it was so cute. "Daddy let's watch 'Saving Private Ryan'"
Billie and I frowned. "Jakob that's too gory for you and Joey. How did you know about that movie anyway?"
Jakob pointed over to the shelf that held the DVD's. "Over there."
Billie and I loved war movies. "Oh well we're not watching that."
Jakob frowned. "How about we watch 'Monsters Inc'"
Billie looked at Joey. "Ok we'll watch that."
Jakob was still pouting about not being able to watch 'Saving Private Ryan' "Jakob when you're older, I promise you can watch 'Saving Private Ryan' Ok?"
Jakob shook his head. Half way through the movie Joey and Jakob fell asleep. They each had their head on one of Billie's shoulders. I paused the movie and got up to help Billie. I took Jakob and Billie took Joey. "Good night Jakey."
I kissed Jakob's forehead and walked downstairs. "Finally we're alone."
I raised my eyebrows. "What are you talking about?"
Billie sighed. "Remember the kitchen? I want to pick up where we left off."
I smiled seductively and pushed Billie onto the couch. I straddled him and we kissed and he explored my body. Our kissing intensified and I ran my hands through Billie's hair. "I missed this so fucking much."
He whispered in my ear. I smiled. "I missed this too."
I began to touch him, he let his head rest on the back of the couch as he moaned, and he closed his eyes enjoying himself very much. After I did this for sometime I leaned forward and whispered in his ear. "I want you now Billie."
He opened his eyes and pulled his head up to look at me. "I can do that."
He kissed me some more and took off my clothes as I took his off. We had sex in the living room. "Billie I know this is the wrong time to ask this but why are you guys home so early?"
Billie ran a hand through his hair. "The tour got canceled due to low ticket sales. I guess people don't like Green Day anymore."
I crawled over to Billie and hugged him. "Awe Billie don't say that. People still like Green Day right now, Pop rules the charts that's all."
Billie nodded. What neither of us knew at the time was that Green Day would make a HUGE comeback.
