Runaway, chapter 1

-Berkeley, CA 1991-

Footsteps hit the ground as Audrey Black ran down the empty streets. Her long black hair flew in the wind behind her as she kept running. Se could hear the approaching running steps of a man chasing after her.

"LEAVE ME ALONE! YOU CAN'T CHANGE ME AND WHAT I AM!" she screamed.

"Audrey, it's for your own good!" shouted the man.

"No it's not! Just let me be the way I am!" she brought her pace to a run, and she went staright into a club. The man followed after her, but he gave up his search as he stepped insinde the crowded club with punks and such. Audrey looked around for the man, and was relieved that he he was gone.

"Are you okay?" came the voice of a young man behind her, about her age, with black hair and shimmering green eyes.

"Yeah, I'm just on the run from the government," she said. 'I'm Audrey... Audrey Black," she said, holding her hand out to him.

"I'm Billie Joe Armstrong," he said, shaking her hand. "So, why are you on the run from the feds?"

"I'll tell you in a more secret area," she led him out to the back. "Okay, reason is: I'm a demon/angel hybrid, and the feds have found a cure to my conditon, but I don't want it. I wanna live like this, but my stepdad wants me cured. So I ran away and wound up here."

"Oh... I'll keep this a secret between us," he smiled.

"Thank you, Billie Joe."

"You can call me Billie if you want. So, Audrey, come meet my friends," he brought her back inside, and brought her over to two young men about the same age as she was.

"Hey, Bill, who's the chick?" asked one of them.

"Tré, this is Audrey Black. Audrey, this is Tré Cool, one of my best friends."

'Well, hi Tré," Audrey smiled.

'Hey, there, sexy lady," Tré replied with an evil grin. He got a slap on the back of the head by the other one.

"Don't mind him, he's just an ass," he said.

"And this is Mike, my other best friend," said Billie.

"Oh, sure, I'm 'the other best friend'," he joked. "Glad to meet you, Audrey."

"Same to you... So, what brings you guys here?"

"Well, as soon as this band gets off the stage, we're on," said Billie. "We're called Green Day."

Audrey thought she must have been thinking incorrectly. "You guys are Green Day?"

"Yeah, why?"

"You guys have the best shows ever. Sorry, I've just been listening through the walls, and you guys are really good."

"Well, thank you," the three of them said in unison.

"Today's your lucky day, Audrey... You get to actually see one of our shows," said Tré.

"And now, on stage is Green Day," said the bar owner, getting off of the stage. Audrey watched as Billie, Tré and Mike got onstage. She heard the opening line of At The Library, and sang along with the lyrics. She looked over at Mike, who was trying to tell her something.

"Your voice is really good," he mouthed out.

"Thank you," she mouthed back. She lost herself in his blue eyes, then she regained focus as the show ended with Domintated Love Slave, one she hadn't heard before.

-After-

Audrey made sure that she was hidden out of sight as she waited for the guys to come out through the back. She met up with them, and they headed back to Billie's house, getting completely stoned.

"Hey, Adie, come out and meet Audrey!" he said. A young woman with dreads and dark eyes came from upstairs as she sat next to Billie.

"Hey, Audrey," she smiled.

"Hi, Adrienne," Audrey smiled back.

"Stoned again, Billie?"

"It looks like it, doesn't it?"

"No frickin' duh. Well, I gotta get some sleep before I have to go back to Minnesota in the morning," she yawned.

"You live in Minnesota? I live in St. Paul."

"Cool, maybe if we're both in state, we can have our own night out, or I can just stop by for a visit."

"Ain't gonna happen, sadly. The feds know where I live."

"Are you in trouble with the law?"

Audrey sighed, and she explained what was going on, only so Adrienne could hear, and both Mike and Tré had already gotten knocked out from all the weed and booze intake.

"So, let me get this straight; you're a demon/angel hybrid on the run from the government just because they have a cure for your condition?" she watched as Audrey nodded. She was close to screaming out loud as Audrey's eyes went from a soft, sky blue pigment to a fierce, golden-yellow tinge, and her pupils became thin, black slits. "Thing is, I don't even think I have any angel blood in me."

"My sister, Charlotte is the same way," said Adrienne. "So you're not the only one with this."

"That makes me feel slightly better... Well, I'm gonna hit the sack," Audrey got up, and went into an empty bedroom, and she fell asleep.
