Part Two, chapter 8
I'll go anywhere so I'll see you there
Billie had fallen half asleep on the couch, watching a cartoon tape Violet had brought for Jack and Patti to get them distracted while she was doing other things. He had promised to wait for her to come back from work and then they would go out. She returned ten minutes later and ran towards him, falling on top of him.
"Hey honey," she said and kissed his lips.
"Hey..." he replied and rubbed his eyes to come to his senses. "How was work?" he asked.
"It was great. I wrote two new articles, which you are going to like once you read them and also...I have a big surprise for you..." she told him and placed a kiss on his neck, smelling his cologne.
Billie shook his head in question. "I'm taking you to a film premiere tonight."
"What?"
"Yep, go get pretty and dressed up. They gave me two invitations so you're the lucky guy who's going to be my escort! Oh this is just like prom all over!"
Violet yelled happily and got off him. Prom night.
Billie had taken her to her prom.
She was wearing a long white dress, had her hair up and it looked like she had been taken out of a fairy tale. They danced all night to every song and were amongst the last ones to leave.
They got jealous or questioning looks from the beginning of the evening until the end but they just didn't care about it. Violet especially had the time of her life, freaking her teachers out by kissing a rock God in front of them.
"Billie, baby, are you going to get up?" she asked and brought him out of his rather pleasant flash-back.
"Sure. What about our kids? Are we just going to abandon them here?"
"Of course, where's the problem? They're nine months old. About time they start getting some responsibilities," she joked.
"I completely agree but I think they should learn about the responsibility of peeing in the bathroom first," he replied and walked into their room, to find his girlfriend taking off her clothes to change into something fancier.
"So, I know I'm not supposed to be wanting you so fucking much right now but I do," he talked against the skin of her neck and then kissed her.
"Good. So do I," she giggled and passed her arms around his waist. "Well, then why don't we just skip the premiere?" he tried to seduce her, knowing very well that his tactics succeeded almost all the time.
"Billie! Come on this is the first time I'm taking you somewhere! Don't ruin it to me, please!" she complained.
"Ok, fine whatever you want, babe. But I am so doing you when we get back,"
"Bad boy, such language. Two innocent children are sleeping at the exact opposite room," she pretended to be disappointed in him.
"What are we going to do with our kids again?"
"Mike and Tre are coming to be with them," she answered.
"Mike agreed to come?"
"Yes, why?"
"I don't know he seems a little down the past few weeks."
"Yeah I've noticed. He's always thinking..." Violet looked at Billie, concerned.
"Maybe he has a crush or something..." Billie shrugged it off.
"Wouldn't he tell you guys?"
"I don't know, sometimes he gets like that. Like he's holding a secret or something."
"Well...anyway if he keeps it up we'll see what we'll do."
As they got off their car and set foot on the red carpet, a crowd of people started cheering. Billie, feeling more like home, quickly held Violet's hand and waved at everyone. Knowing that when it came to showbiz, her boyfriend was never wrong she simply followed his moves.
"Feeling like me showing you off to people?" he whispered in her ear, expecting every single photographer to take advantage of the moment. She nodded, laughing and Billie put his arm over her shoulders and brought her close to him, giving her a kiss on the lips.
"Hope you're not bored," she said once everyone had taken a photograph of them.
"Well, normally I would be but since you're here it's the fucking best place in the world." He replied, never getting his hand away from hers.
"Good thing you went back to your old sappy ways..." she teased him.
"Oh my God, Violet Landin and Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day," a girl journalist shouted after them and they turned around, both smiling broadly.
"Many congratulations for your babies you two!" she said and shook their hands.
"Thank you," Billie and Violet said together.
"It's a boy and a girl right?"
"Damn straight," replied Billie, grinning impressively at the mentioning of his children.
"What do you call them?"
"Just Jack and Patti Armstrong," answered Violet this time.
"Are we going to see you guys finally tie the knot?"
They looked at each other and Billie couldn't help but stroke Violet's cheek as he could see she was beginning to blush.
"Well, yeah sometime in the future, sure. Even though she is just a horrible sleeper!" he joked, avoiding discussing more about the matter.
"And he snores!" Violet continued.
"I liked that moviem" She came to her conclusion once they were back in their car and heading home. "I'm going to write a good review about it."
"You should, it was good," Billie agreed and placed his hand on her knee. He started getting it further up to her thigh and finally he gave her a pinch before holding the wheel again.
"Ok, ok..." Violet sighed and rolled her eyes. "I remember all the cruel things you said, you want to do to me once we got back home."
"Glad to hear that I won't have to refresh your memory my dearest."
"In what condition you think we'll find Tre and Mike?"
"Mike watching TV or sleeping and Tre passed out. You know the usual stuff..."
"Of course..." Violet nodded laughing. "I love Green Day," She sighed and looked out of the window.
You're the reason for my misery
Mike handed Billie a beer and all three members of Green Day let their instruments down to have a break. "I'm tired," Billie admitted, taking the first sip of his drink.
"Tired? Sorry man don't know that word," Tre told him, finishing the beer and getting up to get another. "I just want to go home. I haven't seen my kids for two days now," Billie sighed.
"What about Vi?" Tre asked.
"Well...I've slept with her but we haven't really talked."
"Don't you guys say things when you have sex? You're missing all the fun."
"I'm just saying that we hadn't had any alone time except when we are in bed you moron. And it is unfair to her too because she has to deal with everything."
"So you've dropped the taking terms thingie?"
"Kind of. She doesn't complain or anything but I feel a little guilty for being away."
"Well..." Mike started saying but then paused and decided against it.
"What?" Billie asked curiously.
"We're finished now aren't we? And it's getting pretty late so she is probably preparing for bed right now. So instead of sitting here and doing practically nothing, shouldn't you go home?" Billie didn't answer to him.
Since when did Mike give relationship advice?
It's not like he knew Violet that well. Billie was the only one to know her like he knew himself and vice versa. Why should Mike tell him what was the right thing to do?
Despite of everything, Billie couldn't deny that there was logic in his friend's words.
He should try and spend as much time as he possibly could with his girlfriend and his two children who were already ten months old and it seemed like yesterday when they were born.
Hell, it seemed like yesterday when he had met their mother.
He unlocked the door and the sound of television was heard. Violet was watching Sleepless in Seattle again.
"Hey baby," she smiled at him. Billie smiled back and without saying anything, he blocked her way and kissed her strongly, knowing that it was something he wanted to do for hours.
"Nice," She told him, giggling a bit.
"I missed you, Vi," Billie said and kissed her again.
"Right back at you. Oh, I went shopping today," said Violet, clapping her hands enthusiastically.
"You did?"
"Yes, and I found a shirt I think you're going to like."
"Well, then I am going to like it."
"Good, because Mike said it wasn't your style."
"Mike?"
"Yeah."
"You went shopping with Mike?"
"Uh huh. I went to Tre's to ask him to babysit and Mike was there saying that he had nothing to do, so I invited him."
"Huh..." Billie got away from her and disappeared to the kitchen. Violet soon followed of course.
"What's wrong?" she asked. She was about to cry and they hadn't said anything yet.
"Nothing."
"It doesn't look like nothing."
"Well, it's just that I want to pick my own clothes. That's all."
"Yes, I'm well aware. But I was thinking of you and I saw this shirt and I thought I'd be a good girlfriend and buy it for you."
"Well...ok, never mind."
"Billie, what is this? You come home after being away for the whole day and you have bad temper?"
"Well, I'm fucking sorry but that's like you...you don't know me," Billie was regretting every word the moment it left his mouth.
"I don't know you? What are you talking about? I just wanted to give you an I love you present and instead I got you accusing me? Well that's just great."
"Vi, I don't want to fight with you but sometimes I think that maybe you don't want to be in this relationship anymore," Damn it, he was on a roll here!
"Oh, is that so?" she laughed bitterly. "Yeah, I guess you're right. That's why I gave birth to your kids. And that's why I live with you and that's why I wait for you night after night for the fucking last months. Obviously I hate you."
"I'm not saying that you don't love me..."
"Then what are you saying? That I don't want to marry you? That's weird because last time I checked I was dying to be your wife and have you in my life forever..."
"Vi..."
"And then again there's the new brought I don't know you issue. Well, what can I say, I guess all the times I spent, trying to learn your character, even writing down your favorite things don't count."
"I didn't want to..."
"I can't believe it. And all of this because of a god damned shirt, which by the way you haven't even seen yet. I would never buy it to you if I knew it was going to lead to this," she stopped, took a deep breath and started crying. "Maybe I should leave for a day or two. Give you some space and time to think about stuff," she suggested, looking down.
Billie wanted to slap himself. This fight had come out of nowhere and was entirely his fault. He came closer to her, grabbed her by the waist and gave her a kiss, like it was going to be the last time he did it. He swore to himself that he wouldn't let her go at the same time.
"I am so sorry," He whispered, his face wet from both Violet's and his own tears. Thank God, she smiled at him.
"It's ok. As long as you didn't mean it."
"I didn't mean a thing."
"You know I love you, right?"
"Yeah..."
"You want me to say it more often to you?"
"It wouldn't hurt," he said and they both laughed for a moment. Billie wanted to kiss her again but before he decided to do it, Violet caught him of guard and beat him to it.
That was a pleasant change. "Let's forget about this ok?" she whispered.
"Sure let's forget about this and go have sex!!!" he suggested, clapping his hands.
"That's sounds like fun," Violet agreed, laughing.
