Highlighter, chapter 1
Me, Taylor, and Lauren were walking down the street when we just happened to see Billie Joe. So, as always, we all ran up to him for 'daily hugs'. It's kind of like when you see someone you haven't in a really long time.
''What are you doing back here so soon, I didn't expect you back for a while?'' I ask him.
He says, ''We're shooting 'When September Ends' here. Thought we'd surprise you guys.''
Taylor asks, ''Where's Mike, I've missed him?''
''Yeah, and where's Tre'?''Lauren follows.
''They're getting something. I don't know what.'' Well, after that we went over to his place and just hung out. Lauren was going through the fridge and Taylor sat in 'her' room for a while. And, well, I was sitting right next to Billie Joe and to my surprise he kept trying to move as close to me as he could. Not that I had a problem with that or anything it's just that I wasn't really expecting it that's all.
"What are you doing?" I asked anxciously wondering.
"What?" he said trying not having to answer. I let it go that time. I knew if he was trying to get close he would do it on his own. So I sat waiting for him to move closer. And as soon as he got close enough I moved the rest of the way.
"What are you doing?" he asked when I moved.
'"The same thing you were," I said. Lauren was now sitting at the kitchen table eating ... something. I was twirling my hair in my fingers when Billie Joe reached for my hand trying to hold it or something. Startled, I slapped him. From that, his jaw dropped, as well as Lauren's. Me?... I sat there laughing while trying to get out in between giggles ''I'm sorry''.
''Jeeze!'' he finally gets out.''What was that for?''
''Sorry,'' I said with a smile, ''you scared me.'' By this time Taylor was out of the room staring at me with a strange look on her face.
''What's wrong hun?'' I asked.
She said angrily, "What is wrong with you?" Lauren stood next to Taylor at this time both with a very angry look on thier face.
''What did I do?'' I asked as I noticed a gun Taylor was holding behind her back. Obviously Billie Joe saw it too because he grabed my hand and took us both into the bedroom and locked the door. We both ducked under the bed as we heard shots being fired. Afterwards Billie Joe packed his bags as I sat in the corner, a basketcase of paranoiya, and watched. After he was finished packing he took me by the hand and we climbed out the window.
''Do you think we should call the police?'' I asked shaking. Billie Joe stayed silent. I followed him down the street until we got to my house.
''Go in and get your stuff.'' he demanded. I went in to find Taylor and Lauren standing in my front door. With a scream, I fell backwards from the shot fired. Billie Joe ran up to me lieing on the ground bleeding. Scared of Billie Joe, Lauren and Taylor run out the back door. Billie Joe runs in the house to call for an ambulance praying to God it's not to late. The ambulance arrives. All of the flashing lights are a blur of blue and red to me. I figured at this time that it probably was too late. But Billie Joe came with me in the ambulance and sat beside me holding my hand the whole way there. When we got there Billie Joe sat in the waiting room. After a while a nurse came over and told him that he could go in and see me now. He walked in the room and saw me there with a shoulder wraped up.
He says, ''Did they hit you hard?''
''Hey, what's up Billie Joe!'' I say thrilled to see him without a blur. ''Na... not really. Doesn't even hert anymore. Hey, did you figure out why all of this is happening?''
''No,'' he says, ''Do you think that you're strong enough to go now though?''
''Yeah sure... lets get out of here!'' I got dressed and we left like nothing happened. I liked that. He took my hand and we went to his house again. When we got there Mike came bursting in.
''Are you okay DC?'' he asked CRYING!
''Yeah, I'm fine.'' I said, ''Billie Joe, did you tell everyone........ God?'' I said sarcastically. We all laughed for a second.
''Billie Joe didn't tell me... Taylor did.'' Mike said.
Both me and Billie Joe screamed, ''WHAT!''
''Did she happen to mention WHO shot me?'' I asked.
''Well, no.'' Mike answed.
Billie Joe screamed, ''SHE DID!''
''What are you talking about? My Taytor wouldn't do that.''
''Yes she would and she did.'' Billie Joe says.
''Where were Lauren and Tre' during all of this?''
I told him, ''Lauren was with Taylor. I don't know where Tre' was. I thought he was with you.''
''No. He wasn't with me.'' Mike said, ''where was he Billie Joe?''
''How do you expect me to know? I haven't seen him since yesterday. Or was it the day before. Well, I haven't seen him.'' Billie Joe said. I hadn't seen him either. Maybe he has something to do with all of this. Everyone thought this and there was complete silence as me and Billie Joe both ran out the door. We ran to Tre's place and burst into the door. He wasn't there. There was one other place to find him. But I wasn't going there.
''You don't have to go if you don't want to.'' Billie Joe said to me. Of course he knows that I'm not going to.
''I know I don't but I will if you want me to.'' I said... wait did I really say that. I don't want to go there. Too late.
''Okay, sure, come on.'' he says snickering. He knows I don't really want to go. He takes us to Lauren's and we go in.
''Oooohhhhh Tre' . Are you there?'' I shout. ''Don't act like you're not!''
We hear, ''Yeah, I'm here. Where's Lauren?''
''She's not here... up... stop fooling around Tre' !'' I say. ''What's going on with Lauren and Taylor? Don't act like you don't know because you do!'' Tre' was obviously covering up for her. He of all people should know where she is.
''Fooling around? Uuummm urm chhu hhmmm! What are you talking about.?.'' 'Tre' somehow gets out.
''You know what she's talking about. Don't play stupid!'' Billie Joe says. Him and me were both getting really mad now. It seemed like Billie Joe was more mad than me though, and I was the one who was shot.
''Who's playing stupid? You've got to be kidding.'' Tre' says trying to cover up something. ''All right... I'll talk. Taylor said you had something that belongs to her. She wants it back... NOW!''
''I don't have anything of hers! What did she say it was?'' I said. What could she be talking about? I don't have anything THAT important of hers.
Tre' interupts my thoughts with, ''She said it was a book or something.....I don't know.'' A BOOK.... why would she shoot me for a book?

I told him, ''Lauren was with Taylor. I don't know where Tre' was. I thought he was with you.''
''No. He wasn't with me.'' Mike said, ''where was he Billie Joe?''
