Highlighter, chapter 2
Me and Billie Joe ran down the sidewalk trying to get to Taylor's house. That's the only way we can figure out why she shot me. And something else I need to know is why Billie Joe was trying to snuggle up with me yesterday, but I won't find that there.
''DC.......... I see Taylor!'' Billie Joe screams from in front of me. Boy, is she in for something or what.
''What do you want from me?'' I asked Taylor.
''I want my book back.'' Taylor said.
I say, ''So Tre' wasn't making that up. What book? Why would you shoot me for a book? Come on, I need to know this. No book is so important that you need to shoot your best friend!''
''Obviously there is because I did shoot you didn't I? Or should I try again?'' she says. She's got a point. She says, ''Are you going to give it back or what?''
''Yeah, I'll give it back............ if I knew what it was.''
''My photo album!'' Taylor screams at me.
''I gave that back to you last summer.'' I did give it to her then. I remember.
'''Then why isn't it at my house?''
''It was a few days ago.''
''Well, it wasn't there yesterday and you're the only one that's been in there.''
''I might have been in there but I didn't take your album, alright!'' Taylor and I kept arguing back and forth.
''Hold on, everybody just shut up for a second, please!'' Billie Joe screams at us.
Taylor gets her flirty look on her face and says, ''Oh, hey Billie Joe. You know... I've been going after you since I first saw you. I've always loved your face.'' she pauses and starts to feel his cheek. ''It's like a baby. So soft and warm.'' GROSS!! why would any one say that to any one?
''Excuse me!'' I say, ''Do you actually think he would ever like you? I mean, did you not see him yesterday on the couch... WITH ME!'' I know that she's just trying to get him on her side. That's why I stopped it there... because it almost worked.
''Well, if she thinks her album is at your house, and you know it's not there, why don't you just let her go and look for herself?'' Billie Joe says.
''Are you kidding me! Like I'd let her in my house. After she shot me for a worthless photo album. There was nothing so important in a book to shot your friend for. I don't care what anyone says there just isn't. So, no she can't go in my house messing up everything in there just for a photo album. I told you that I didn't have it and I don't, alright.'' As you can see, I'm getting so mad now. I don't have it.
''Maybe you just don't want me in there because that's where it is. Maybe you have it and you... never mind. You know what, keep it. You're right... nothing is so important that you shoot your best friend for it...''
''Umm... no. You see, I know I'm right. But the thing is that you already shot the gun. It's too late now.''
''I know it's too late. I already shot you. That's why we're not friends.''Taylor pulls out a hand gun but instead of shooting me she shoots Billie Joe. He trys to move out of the way but the bullet catches him and he falls back. Taylor walks away very calmly and I run after her. With us rolling on the ground and Billie Joe lying bleeding as I was yesterday I think, ''God I'm stupid''!
I get up and run to the nearest house and bang on the door screaming, ''Open the door! Call 911! My boyfriend's been shot!'' Someone opens the door with a shocked look on their face. It's Billie Joe's X-girlfriend. Yay!
''Who's been shot?'' she says.
''Why does it matter, CALL FOR AN AMBULANCE!'' My God... just call it already. PLEASE! She goes in and picks up the phone.
She says, ''What's the number? Hurry up, he's going to die.'' sarcastically.
''Give me that!'' I go in and snatch the phone out of her hand.
Dialing the number I hear, ''I'm fine. Don't call them.''
''Billie Joe? Is that you? You're going out wih her? What?'' she says.
''Not really. Well yeah. Aren't we DC?'' he says.
''Yeah. I mean, sure. Uuhhhh. Yeah.'' Bad time to ask that question. I don't know.
''Yeah, we are.'' he smiles at me and motions for me to call now. I pick up the phone and dial again. "Are you okay Maria? What's wrong.''
''Well, it's just that I thought we were going to get back together soon. And I just figured out that you already have a girlfriend. Probably a soulmate for life with my luck.''she says. What a perfect thing to figure out at this time. Your boyfriend has an X who still likes him. Yay! Not that I know this for a fact it's just that I think...............
''Aaaaaahhhhhhh!''
''Great. What now?''
