Highlighter, chapter 3
Me and Maria run outside to find out what the scream was as Billie Joe stands, in pain, watching. What has been up with these two days? It seems like everything is going wrong. I don't see why this has to happen in my life. I haven't done anything for me to deserve this. I don't think anyway. Then again.......... never mind. That's my bussiness.......... not yours. Anyway, we ran outside to find another one of Taylor's victims. She wasn't shot.......... but run over.
"Are you okay? Oh my God what happened? Should I call an ambulance for her too? What's going on? First my true love gets shot and I figure out he has a girlfriend then someone gets run over. All of this happened right outside my front door. Good God what is this world coming to, an end? Will someone please explain this. You, little lovergirl over there, explain, now, I'm waiting. Ignore the girl on the ground and explain. Pretend she's not there. Hurry up, I'm waiting.'' What is she crazy!?! Ignore her? I don't think so.
BJ says, ''What are you psyco? You've got to be crazy. We'll explain later, NOW GET IN THERE AND CALL 911! And hurry up!'' I couldn't have said it better myself. She ran in and picked up the phone. She dialed the number and explained to them where we were and what had happened. They said they were on their way. When the ambulance arrived, I got in and slammed the door shut before Maria could make her way in.
''Are you sure that she doesn't wan't to come with us?'' the Fuzz asked. What a retarded question.
I say, ''Let's see, no she doesn't want to come. She's got better things to do than to come and support her X. So........... yeah I'm sure Mr. PoPo.'' Me and Taylor used to call the police the Fuzz or the PoPo, sometimes Mr. PoPo. Guess that's not gonna happen anymore. I'm still saying it, I don't know about her but I am. Oh well, it's her fault.
''Okay. Whatever.'' said the PoPo. ''You're sure, right?'' I nod and look away rolling my eyes. Anyways, I found out that the girl Taylor ran over was Kacy. I don't blam Taylor for running her over. She's quite strange. I mean............ never mind. You'd know what she did if you read the paper. If you don't............ oh well. Back to what I was saying.............. when we got to the hospital, they took Kacy back. They left Billie Joe out because they thought he could last long enough to take her and finish her. I think they should have more than one sergen at the hospital. One person can't do it alone. As I was saying....... I sat and talked to BJ for a while. He went back with the doctor and he took the bullet out. Then we went to the police and told them what was happening.
''Excuse me.'' I say to a police officer talking to another.
''Can I help you?'' He asks us.
I say, ''I sure hope so. Yesterday I was shot by one of my friends.''
''Guess you're not friends anymore are you?'' He rudely budds in.
''Guess not. Anyway, yesterday I was shot and was in the hospotal for an hour or so. And today, just a little while ago, Taylor shot him too.''
'''Taylor's the one that shot you, right?'' the officer asks again rudely cutting me off.
''Yeah, that's right.'' I say continuing, ''As I was saying, after we got to a phone and were about to call for an ambulance, we heard a scream from outside. I went outside to see what it was and Taylor had run over a girl. Do you know if you can like, track her down or something?'' He stands there staring into space. ''Are you even listening?'' I ask frustrated.
''I'm sorry............. were you saying something?'' he says so stupidly.
''Yeah actually I was but I think I can find someone else to talk to if you don't want to listen.''
''Yeah, there should be someone over there.'' he tells me and motions with his head.
