Highlighter, chapter 4
We walked over to the officer that hopefully has some since. He looked at me with a very wierd look on his face. What's wrong with all of the officers in here.
''I need to tell someone who will listen to me. So I hope you will. You see yesterday my friend shot me, today she shot him and ran over a girl I don't like. Don't know why it matters but I was just wanted to tell you.'' I took a breath for air because I was talking so fast I didn't get a chance, ''So, can you help us? Please.'' The officer stared at me for a minute.
I was hoping he wasn't like the other one when he said,''I think so. You said she was your friend so you know what she looks like, right?'' Thank God!.! I was about to go crazy thinking he was going to be like the other one.
''Yeah that's right. At least she was my friend. I don't think she will be anymore.'' I said with a laugh.
The officer says, ''Do you really think this is the time to laugh about this kind of matter. Laugh about it in afew years when your friend's out of prison.'' I frowned and looked away.
''What........... did you think that we were going to track her down and then not put her in jail for shooting inocent people.
BJ says, ''Well, we're not completely inocent. You see, we have a book of hers. THat definately does't give her a reason to do what she did but we do.''
''You're right, that doesn't give her a right. Either way she would've gone to jail for shooting you guys.'' the officer tells him. ''But did you steel it from her?''
I say, ''No, we didn't steel it. She let me look at it once and I gave it back to her. If she doesn't have then she must have lost it.''
''Okay, I understand. We'll contact you tomarrow to get a scetch of her.''the officer says.
''Fine, thanx.'' I say. Me and Billie Joe went back to his house where we found Mike and Lauren and Tre' all sitting on the couch sulking. Lauren looked up and saw me and tried to get up and run away but Mike grabs her.
He says, ''LaurenI told you you're going to say you're sorry. You're going to do it now.''
She steps forward and says, ''I'm sorry.''
''Well, not good enough. You were with her all the way and you know it. You didn't have to do that. Me and you are supposed to be friends.'' I say.
She says, ''I didn't mean to I didn't know what I was thinking. Please D don't be mad at me it wasn't supposed to happen like that. She sayed that we were going to go and get the book and it would be over. But when she went in and it wasn't there she went crazy. I just happened to be there when she shot you. I promise I had nothing to do with it.''
I scream, ''Well you didn't even go and get help when she shot me. Now get out before I call the cops. Now!'' I pointed at the door and motioned for her to leave.
''You'll pay for this.'' she says with an angry tone. She walks out the door and slams it shut when she finally gets out. I walk into the kitchen and open the refrigerator. I look in to find near to nothing.
"Mike, do you and Tre' always have to eat everthing? Geezz!" I say.
They say, "I didn't eat any of it." I see Billie Joe standing by the door. He's kind of smiling.
''Billie Joe!'' I say.
He says, ''What did I do? It is my refidgerator anyways. You can't tell me I can't eat my own food. You could at least just ask if we could go and get something to eat. Maybe we could go to dinner.............."
''Yeah I'm really hungry. Let's go to Rafferty's. Ouch!'' Tre's says as Mike elbows him on the stomach to shut up. Did he just ask me to dinner?
Mike says, ''Ohhhhhhhhhhhh!!! You guys are going on a date. That's so cool. So, what's it like just finding out that your long time friend ,who just happens to be the amazing Billie Joe Armstrong, likes you?''
'' Shut up you bozo. You guys are freakin' idiots. Geezz.'' BJ says. I can tell he's embarrased to ask me this. Let me relieve him of the pain.
''Are you asking me out? Because if you are you should know the answer. From how long you've lnown me at least.''
''Yeah I was asking you out but if you don't want to go I can't force you to.''
''I never said I wouldn't go. I just said you should know the answer. And obviously you didn't. Because my answer is yes. I will go with you to dinner......... but you have to ask me right. You're not supposed to ask in the middle of an arguement.''
''Okay then................ DC, Alley, will you go to dinner with me tomarrow night?''
''Ohhhh, well, tomarrow might not be so good.''
''Come on now Alley........... DC I asked right.''
''I know, I know. Yes I will go to dinner with you tomarrow night. But you have to go get food for tonight too you know? I've been without food for a day and I'm really hungry.''
''I know I have to go get food................... I'm really glad you said yes.'' leened in to kiss me but I pulled back. ''What? What's wrong?''
''Nothing's wrong it's just that people are actually watching us like this is a soap opera or something. I'm not very comfortable kissing with people watching. Maybe a little further into the relationship or when no one's watching because they want to but not here now. Sorry.''
''That's fine, hey can you give me a minute alone with Mike?''
''Uhhhh yeah sure. But I'll be back in 15 minutes.'' I walked out of the room and left them alone. I waited 15 minutes and went back in.
Obviously they weren't done talking because I walked in and heared Billie Joe say, ''I want to ask her to marry me at dinner tomarrow.''
Ohhhhh my God! Please tell me I didn't just hear that.
