Are you here yet?, chapter 5
"Okay you guys, be nice."
"So, I'll be back in a minute to get some x-rays." She hurried off to the next room and got someone else to come in.
"Okay. I'll need the rest of you to go into the waiting room while I do this." We got up and left Billie in the room.
Billie's P.O.V
The doctor put a big machine over my leg and walked over to the room.
"Try not to move your leg, I'm going to go into the next room and start the x-rays." He walked out and went into the other room. I heard a soft beep, and he came back in after two more, well, after he moved my leg a few more times.
"Okay. I'll go get them and I will have the x-rays in a few minutes." He said to me and walked out the door. He came back in a few minutes later with the Hanson's behind him.
"Did it hurt?" Maria asked.
"What, the x-rays?"
"Yeah."
"No, you don't even know they're doing it." I laughed.
"Okay, I have the x-rays." He put them up on the white screen and turned it on. "Luckily all it seems that you have done is sprained your ankle, but that hurts worse than breaking it to be truthful."
"I know. I broke my arm when I was five." I told him.
"Yeah, so I'm sure you know how it feels then. Well, you can go home," and he looked to Debbie and Jeff, "just make sure he gets some Advil. Do you have any?"
"Yes, we get hurt too much; we'd be dead or in bed if we didn't." Jeff replied.
"So, you can walk, it may hurt a little."
"He has a high pain tolerance." Debbie said, smiling at me. I got off of the bed and stood up; it didn't hurt as much as I expected it too. When I got up I pulled me pant leg back down, the doctor had me pull it up for the x-ray. We all walked out of the hospital doors after Jeff paid for the appointment. It was only half as much because of the time before going in. We got into the car once again and went home. By now it was almost three in the morning now. When we got home we went back to our rooms and tried to go back to sleep. Surprisingly I fell asleep quite fast.
When I woke up it was eleven forty-five. I had slept in later than normal. I got up and walked downstairs to the kitchen. Jeff was making breakfast; I guess everyone else woke up late too. It was a very nice morning, sunny, and very warm. I sat down at my chair, next to Anthony.
"Everyone sleep well after we got home?" Debbie asked
"Yeah, all except for Lila. She was whining about not wanting to go to bed, which kept me awake." Maria whined. Lila and her shared a room.
"Oh, well she'll be staying at grandma and grandpas for a couple of weeks."
"Yes!" Maria said a bit too loudly. "Oh, did I say that out loud?" she asked. Everyone laughed. Lila was sitting in her highchair as Jeff started passing out bacon and eggs. I didn't eat very much. Debbie got up and went over to the refrigerator. When she came back she had a bottle of O.J. in her hand.
Debbie's P.O.V
"Thank yew." Catherine said with a full mouth.
"Yer welcome." Debbie said in the same way, only with an open mouth. She poured a glass for everyone, then for herself as she sat down. We ate the rest of the food on the table, talking a lot.
"I hated that stupid nurse last night."
"Which one? The one that wouldn't let him in, or the one that he had to repeat what happened over and over for?" Anthony asked her. She smiled and opened her mouth to talk after swallowing her food.
"Both actually, but mainly the first." She said, getting more egg.
"Yeah, they were, like, really stupid." Kaila said.
"Yeah, like, totally." Billie said in a girlish voice. Everyone laughed as Kaila play-glared at him
"Well, it's like, not like you place to, like, be mean to me." Kaila said back.
"Like, so what... " Billie said, still rather girlishly. Anthony had to come in on the topic.
"Would you like, stop being so totally, uh," he looked around, thinking of what to say, "what's a hippies way of saying things?" he asked me.
"You should know." Billie told him. They get along so well, even if they are both dorks. It's not only me who says that either, so I can't be blamed. I looked at Anthony with his mouth hung open. He looked so retarded when he did that.
"Oh, so now... now, now I'm the queen of hippies?" he asked, pretending to cry.
"Actually, I would have called you the king, but I guess you can be the queen. Fits you a little strangely though, don't you think?" Billie asked. Anthony looked at him and then to the ceiling.
"Why can't I ever win an argument?" he asked.
"Oh there are many reasons!" Maria chimed in.
Soon we finished out breakfast and were sitting on the back porch. I watched as the kids all played soccer. Billie Joe had gotten really good at it. He had started out not being able to take the ball away from everyone else, now it was all he did. I heard the phone ring so I got up and went inside. When I picked it up it was a women on the other line.
"Billie, the phone, it's for you!" I called to him. He came inside and took it from me...
