FOR LIFE, chapter 1
"No....please no...." Billie Joe cried holding the bloody hand of his beloved fiancé.
"Come on Kat don't leave me.....please...." he sobbed rocked back and forth still holding her hand as she lay dieing on the hospital stretcher.
Doctors worked feverishly on her to try and stop the bleeding from the gun shot wound. They were placing wires and IV and needles all over her.
"B-Bil-Billie..." Kat stuttered as she shook horribly.
"I'm here I'm here....it's gonna be ok...." he said stroking her hairline.
"I'm cold...." she shook. "I can't feel my legs..." she shook again.
"I know sweetie it's ok...." he replied still stroking her hair and trying to smile sweetly at her to show he was calm.
"I-I- love you...." she shook before falling limp on the stretcher.
Suddenly the deafening noise of the heart monitor flat lining filled the room. Billie's eyes shot to the doctors and then back to Kat, as he squeezed her hand tighter then before.
"Noooo..." he sobbed shaking finally himself.
His eyes never leaving Kat he heard the doctors yell CLEAR to shock her back to life.
"Katherine, Katherine Brandon." She said shaking the hand of the man in front of her.
"Katherine, the name's Armstrong, Billie Joe Armstrong." He joked not noticing they were still shaking hands.
"You can call me Kat, by the way." She said nervously sliding her hand out of Billie's.
"So, Kat what brings a pretty girl like yourself to this hotel at such an hour." Billie asked somewhat joking.
"Um... just kind of had to get away. You know?" she said smiling obviously avoiding talking about something.
Billie looked at her curiously, wondering whether or not to question her further to see what she was hiding. He decided against it, after all he had just met her and he was very attracted to her.
"Yea I think I do. He do you want to grab a drink with me and some friends?" he asked her hopeful that she would say yes.
"Sure, I'd love to." She smiled before following Billie as he led her into the bar inside the hotel.
As he led her into the bar he couldn't help but look her from head to toe and admire her figure. She was skinny a little too skinny but not sickly looking. She wore black Capri pants, and he noticed a tattoo just above her ankle. She was also wearing a tight red shirt. And carried a small duffle bag, that she handed to a bellboy telling him what room number to bring it up to.
Once inside the bar, Billie pointed to where his friends were seated and led the way to the table. View points were reversed as now Kat observed Billie's looks. She had seen him a million times before but mostly in magazine pictures, and concert photos. He was as everyone knew the lead singer of the band Green Day and Kat was no doubt going to be sitting the other two thirds of Green Day having drinks. Even though she'd seen it before she still had never seen him up close. He wore tight black jeans and converse shoes. Her eyes traveled up his narrow waist and saw that he was wearing his ever favorite black and blue stripped shirt. He turned, when reaching the table and grabbed her hand placing her in front of him as if presenting her to Mike Dirnt and Tre Cool the other two ingredients to Green Day.
"Mike, Tre this is Kat. Kat this is Mike and Tre." He introduced everyone as you shook hands with them both.
"I invited her to join us for a drink or two." Billie informed, which was followed by no objections.
They sat down and ordered drinks. Upon the next hour all four talked about various subjects. However Kat always seemed to dodge the questions directed to why she was here at the hotel, since they had discovered that she lived only a few miles north. Billie was growing more curious at every question was brushed off. Was she running from something? Looking for someone? Or perhaps it was another reason entirely.
After finishing four drinks each, they decided it was time to head upstairs to their rooms. Tre and Mike left first saying their goodbyes and saying it was nice to met Kat. Then Billie offered to walk her to her room. She thought it was kind of strangle but she didn't decline, I mean it was Billie Joe Armstrong who was offering.
"Going up?" Billie joked while standing in front of the elevator waiting for it to return.
"You really don't have to do this. It's really sweet of you but I think I can manage." She said trying to be polite she didn't want to have to say goodbye to him.
"No, it's alright I don't mind. This way if I want to see you again, I know where to find you." He smiled while they both stepped into the elevator.
Kat gave him a skeptically look and then pressed the button to which floor she was on.
"I don't mean that in a creepy stalker way, I mean if were we to hang out again, I would no where to find you." He explained catching her look.
"Are you implying that you want to see me again Mr. Armstrong?" Kat joked.
"Yea I would." Billie replied completely serious.
Kat smiled growing a little shy as the elevator came to a stop and the doors slid open. They remained silent until Kat stopped at her room door.
"Well this is me." She said pointing to the door.
"Right. Room 313. I will remember that." Billie nervously tapped the door.
"I was... I was wondering if you wanted to hang out tomorrow and I can give you a guitar lesson." Billie asked nervously sliding his hands in his front pants pockets.
"Yea, I'd like that." She smiled reaching for her door and opening it and them turning back to face him.
"Thank you. I really enjoyed tonight." She smiled and then close the door.
On one side of the door Kat was jumping around her hotel room freaking out that Billie Joe had just asked to give her a guitar lesson. Meanwhile on the other side Billie took a deep breath and smiling to himself momentarily thinking about Kat. The same thought ran through their minds, that tomorrow was going to be a very important day.
