It was an unusual gloomy day. My best friends, Stacy Conner, Gest Peters,
and Caleb Williams were sitting in the office waiting room. We were there to
sign our contracts.
"Nicki Andrews will see you now," replied her secretary John.
"Thanks," answered Stacy.
The moment we have been waiting for. This our chance to be famous. This
is our chance to be in the spot light. Wow! Our dream is finally coming true.
The four of us couldn't be happier. Being famous was our dream since we
were little children.
We have been waiting for about ten minutes, when a tall red haired
women with green eyes walked in. This must be Nicki Anders.
"Hello you four," Nicki Anders said standing in the waiting room.
"Hi," I replied with an energetic smile.
"Right this way please," Nicki motioned.
We followed Nicki down the hallway into a conference room. Inside of the
room was a huge round table. There were leather chairs around the table.
We took a seat around the table.
We were sitting there patiently waiting to hear what Nicki was going to
say. "I was looking over your resume and listening to your demo tapes," Nicki
told us.
"Well, what do you think?" I began to ask.
"I thought you four were good," Nicki complimented.
"Yes!" Gest hollered.
"Does this mean you will assign us to your record company?" Caleb
questioned. All we could do is hope for the best. We sat there with our fingers crossed in hopes that Nicki would assign us to her label.
"To answer you question, yes I will assign you to Bio Records," Nicki
exclaimed.
That's wonderful," Caleb blurted out with excitement.
"All you have to do is sign this contract," Nicki pointed out.
So, we signed the contract as fast as we could.
"Before you go, I did set up an appointment for you to meet your new
manager," Nicki explained to us.
"Who is our manager?" Stacy asked.
"Her name is June Rickert," Nicki replied.
"By the way, when is our meeting with June?" I questioned
"It's tomorrow at 8:15 a.m.," said Nicki.
We couldn't wait.
The day couldn't come any faster. The four of us were excited. It was
8:15 a.m. We were sitting in the recording studio writing songs for our
album. Just then a lady walks into the studio. She had blond hair and green
eyes.
"Excuse me, are you June Rickert?" Stacy asked.
"Yes I am June Rickert," she answered.
"Nice to meet you," Caleb said politely.
"I have to leave you girls do to another appointment," June replied.
"Goodbye," I said.
"I will be in touch," June said.
June walked out the door. To me June seemed to be a nice person.
Back to our first task. We need a band name. We need something to
put on our record. Our debut album was due out November 11 in Europe and
November 12 in the U.S.
"What should our band be called?" Gest asked.
"I have no idea," Caleb replied.
"Since our music is punk rock and everything, I think we should call the band
Popsickle," I suggested.
We all liked that name for the band. Popsickle really fit the band.
We have our first single to record. We also have the music video for
our first single to shoot yet. Our hit single is called "You Can't Control Me
Baby". Our single is do to be released October 15, 2007 in Europe and
October 16, 2007 in the U.S.
As we were standing around in the studio, we decided to work on our
hit single. Caleb got the guitar and a microphone set up. Gest, on the other
hand got his drums and a microphone set up. Stacy got her bass guitar and a
microphone set up. Everything was good to go. We were ready to record
our hit single.
"You don't know what true love really is", I began to sing. I finished singing
the first verse. The others came in on the reframe of the song. "You can't
control me baby. Don't pretend to make me happy when I am with you. Just
let me be free and live my own life", we all sang.
We finished the song. I personally thought it was good. I'm sure the
others had to agree. Just then we were interrupted.
"That was good, " Alanna said.
Alanna was the record producer.
"That was the best recording of the song, so we will use it for the single,"
Alanna said.
Yes! We actually finished recording our single. Now that we were done, we
had nothing to do for the rest of the day.
At that moment, my cell phone rang. I was hoping it wouldn't be June.
That was the last person I wanted to talk to. I know that June would have
some promotional gig that we had to due.
"Hello," I said
"Hi Sarah," June said
"What's up June?" I asked.
"I booked you on the radio doing an interview," June began
"Oh?" I questioned.
"The interview is at 8:30 A.M. tomorrow at KSEG in Los Angeles,
California," June continued.
"That's nice," I answered.
"Max and Amy are doing the interview," June concluded.
"Thanks for that," I replied.
"Chow for now," June said.
I hung up the phone. Our first radio interview. This was going to be
interesting.
The other three walked in the room where I was standing. They looked
at me in a weird sort of manner.
"What was that all about?" Stacy asked.
"June booked us to do a radio interview on KSEG in Los Angeles," I replied.
"When?" Caleb asked in surprise.
"Tomorrow at 8:30 A.M.," I answered.
"What! June is insane," Gest shouted.
"We are not doing this interview," Stacy yelled.
"We still have to do this interview no matter what," I said.
I know if we don't do this than June will be angry with us. I would hate to be
yelled from someone other than my sisters. I wasn't sure if the others felt that
way. It was certainly quiet. We were still standing in the recording studio.
"Maybe Sarah is right," thought Stacy.
"Look, you were right," said Caleb.
"Thank you for realizing it," I responded.
"We are sorry," said Gest.
"Apology accepted," I said.
We were all happy that the argument was solved.
It was the next day. We were climbing into the limo. All of us were
nervous as scared chickens about the interview. After riding in the limo for
awhile, we finally reached the radio station. We walked in. A guy with blue
hair and green eyes was standing behind a desk. His name was Rick.
"Can I help you?" Rick asked
"Yes," said Stacy.
"We are suppose to do an interview with Max and Amy at 8:30," I said.
"You must be Popsickle," Rick replied.
"Yes we are," Gest answered.
"Than follow me please," Rick motioned.
Rick showed us to the studio were Max and Amy were.
We walked in the door. To our surprise, the studio was huge. We
couldn't believe our eyes. Awesome!
"Max and Amy will be right back," Stew said.
Stew was the producer of the show.
"Thanks," Gest answered.
We sat there and waited for Max and Amy to return. Just then a really tall, cute guy came in the studio with a very attractive woman.
"You must be Max and Amy," Stacy said.
"Yes we are," replied Max.
"Of course, you are the McDowell Sisters," said Amy.
"Indeed we are," I replied.
"Welcome," Max said.
We were happy to be here. For me, it didn't seem as bad as the others
thought it would be.
Max and Amy went back on the air while we got ready. We were sent
into a booth across from Max and Amy. The next thing we knew, the
interview was beginning.
"On today's show, we have the wonderful band Popsickle," Amy began to
say.
"We are happy to be here," said Caleb.
"We are glad that you could make it," said Max.
"Thank you," Gest said.
We said you are welcome. While we were sitting in the booth across from Max and Amy, during the interview, I felt as if I was falling in love with Max. I mean with his black hair, blue eyes, and wonderful smile who couldn't help falling in love with
him. This couldn't be right though. A singer can't fall in love with a radio dj.
That just isn't right.
The interview continued.
"About your single," Max started saying.
"What is it mainly about?" Amy asked.
"Well, "You Can't Control Me Baby", is about a women/man who is being
controlled by their significant other," I started saying.
"The women/man wants their significant other to stop controlling her every
move," Gest finished explaining.
"Interesting," Max commented.
