The Girl Called Whatsername, chapter 2
Billie Joe looked up and smiled at us and asked, "Hey, did you guys get turned down too?" "Yeah," we both smiled and nodded our heads. We both sat down next to him and we sort of just talked about our favorite bands, and I noticed that he liked all the bands that I liked...it was cool!!!! Allie told him about how she was in college. "That's cool," Billie Joe said. Then he asked me, "What do you do?" "Um...I'm not really in a band or anything, but I play the guitar." I said. "Oh, cool, maybe we can play together sometime, I'd like that." he replied and smiled at me. I smiled back. We then just sort of sat there for a minute. Then I noticed out of the corner of my eye someone rushing towards us, and I looked up...and it was Jesse Michaels the lead singer of Operation Ivy!!!!! "What the fuck Billie Joe? Why aren't you inside? And who are these girls?" He said looking at us. "They're not teenies, they're cool. And the fucken ticketman wouldn't let me in!" Billie Joe said, kind of annoyed. Me and Allie looked at each other in smiles....this was awesome! Our two favorite lead singers arguing!!!! LOL And Billie Joe called us cool!
"Well, c'mon they'll let you in if I'm with you!" Jesse said to Billie Joe. "Ok." He agreed and stood up, but instead of walking off with Jesse Michaels, he just stood there looking at us. Jesse had already started walking towards the entrance, but stopped when he realized that Billie Joe was not walking with him. "C'mon!" Jesse screamed as he turned around. "I'm gonna be late for my own show!" "Wait, is it ok if they come with, because they don't have their tickets." Billie Joe asked, pointing to us. "Whatever, just let's go." Jesse replied. And me, Billie Joe, and Allie all smiled at each other and ran to catch up with Jesse.
The ticketman did not say anything as we walked by, probably because he didn't want to mess around with a guy so famous. He just kind of stared at us. As we stepped inside, we realized that it was a dark hallway, and there was crazy people packed inside this long hallway in a mile long line. "Aw...you gotta be kidding me!!!!" Billie Joe exclaimed. Then people all around us noticed Billie Joe and Jesse and we're like, "Oh my God! It's Billie Joe Armstrong and Jesse Michaels!!!!" and they were all rushing over to them and asking them for their autographs, but they ignored it and Jesse said, "Ok, I'm Jesse Michaels, so they should let us go ahead." Me and Allie laughed 'cause this guy was so famous that anyone would bow down to him and he knew it. So Jesse just told us to follow him, so we did, and we went passed everybody. When he finally got to a door to the backstage, we walked through it, and me and Amber were so nervous that we could have thrown up right then and there. As we walked through, we saw the rest of Operation Ivy gesturing Jesse to them, and me and Amber looked at each other to make sure we weren't dreaming. Billie Joe walked next to me. This was the greatest day of my life! We were backstage of on Operation Ivy concert, and we were hanging out with Billie Joe Armstrong from Green Day!!!!!!!
Me and Amber wanted to shriek and scream and jump up and down, but we didn't 'cause we didn't want to seem too obsessed. We all wished Jesse good luck and they set out onto the stage. We could hear screams shouts from the audience as Operation Ivy took the stage. Me, Billie Joe, and Allie sat backstage together on these old dusty guitar amps sitting in the corner of the stage. Billie Joe sat next to me. I wanted to kiss him really bad, I mean as I stared up into his beautiful green eyes, I just couldn't decide if I should just lean over real quick and kiss him, or I shoud just keep it cool. I didn't kiss him though, because I wasn't even sure if he even liked me at all. Then he noticed that I was staring at him, and he turned to look at me...and he smiled!!! Hey...maybe this guy does have the hotts for me! Then all of a sudden Allie said, "So...Billie Joe are you guys coming out with any new songs?" Billie snapped out of looking at me and looked at Allie and nodded at her and said, "Yeah, a ton. Yeah, we're coming out this new album in 2004, it's gonna be awesome. But I'm not gonna give any of the songs away...we're trying to think of one more song for it, but we can't think of any, we're kind of not in the mood for song writing right now." Billie Joe replied.
Then we just practicly listened and we all kind of played air guitar to the Operation Ivy songs, and sung them, it was hilarious! Then when the concert was finished, the band came backstage, and me, Billie Joe, Allie, and the rest of Operation Ivy had quite a few toddies and pretty soon we were all really drunk. Then Billie Joe asked us if Allie and I wanted to go back with him to his place with Tre and Mike and we all agreed. So we got in his blue ford fairlane and took off.
