Why Does It Always Rain On Me?, chapter 2
When we got to my house I let out a sigh. "Here we go again."
SMACK! I fell to the floor right when I walked in the house.
"Stupid girl!" My mom was drunk... again.
I got back up and told Mona to go and wait in my room. She nodded and ran up the stairs.
SMACK! Back on the floor.
"Stupid girl! I told you no friends over!" She said staring at me blankly with two smashed bottles of Rolling Rock on the floor next to me.
Getting back up again with my rage rising inside me I ignore her and walk upstairs to my room.
I sigh as I close the door and plop down on my bed and put my head in my hands. Mona comes and sits next to me feeling sorry.
"Maybe we should have stayed at my house, I mean 'the guy' doesn't do stuff like that to me." She says trying to help.
"Mona I'm fine really... you get use to stuff like this. It's no big deal I mean she's probably passed out now." I say getting up and walking over to my guitar.
"Geez Lynn I don't know how you can handle stuff like this everyday." She says laying down on my bed.
"I don't know I just do. I just sometimes wish Mike and Billie were here." They always helped me when my mom was in her abusive mode.
"Me too, I mean they probably wouldn't make it any better with me but at least they would help." Mona said sitting back up. "Well at least we don't have to worry for that much longer."
"I know, that's the only part I like about it." I said starting to play. "I can't wait, two more months and we're out of here!" I said with excitement. Mona and I were moving to Oakland not that far from home but at least I didn't have to see my family anymore.
"Yeah I know... but we're going to have to find another drummer." She said.
"That's fine I mean Lee was good but not that great. Heck I doubt she'll mine either." I said putting my guitar down and sitting on the floor.
"But how?" Mona asked "I mean most of the best drummers are already taken."
"Don't worry about it we'll find one. It can't be that hard." I replied.
"Fine... I guess you're right." After she said that it started to rain again.
"Aw geez this crap never ends!" I yelled throwing a random book I found out the floor at the window. It broke. "Crap... now I'm going to get my ass kicked." I said walking over to the window.
"Why don't you like the rain? I mean it's not that bad." Mona asked walking over to the window.
I look out into the darkness watching the lightning hit a tree near by. "Well you know how my brother died?" I asked her feeling depressed now.
"Yeah." She said.
"Well he died on a rainy day." I said falling down on my bed. "I know that's a stupid reason to hate rain but that's my answer."
"It's not stupid. Sure I think it's just weird to hate rain, but now that I know why I don't think it's that weird anymore." She said trying to make me feel better.
"Well Mona girl, you might be in luck, because it's kind of working." I said looking up at her and giving her a weak smile.
"Good because when you're depressed you do this." She said grabbing my arm with cuts on it. "And I hate it when you do that, because it's stupid."
"I know you hate it but it's just a way to get out of my depression faster." I said pulling my arm out of her grip she had on it.
"I guess but I still don't think it's a good way to do it." She said.
"Well... " I began to say then stopped for a minutes. "You know when your dad died and he said 'don't do what you want, but do want you can' I'm doing what I can."
"That's not what he met by that stupid!" she said angrily. "He met, doing what you want may be fun but it's not going to take you any where. And by doing what you can, means do what's right. So cutting yourself is not right." She explained to me.
Then under her breath I heard her say "stupid... "
"Hey! How was I suppose to know I was freaking only 8 years old!" I said.
"Well I was only 8 too. But then again he did tell me what he met by that before he died." She said walking over to the cushion chair.
"Yeah, well he didn't tell me what it met." I said yawning. "I'm tired now."
"Me too" Mona said falling asleep on the chair.
I stood there staring at the window a little longer then went over to my bed. I looked up at my posters then to the side of the wall with pictures of me, Mona, Billie and Mike. I smiled to my self then fell asleep.
