Why Does It Always Rain On Me?, chapter 7

I sat in the basement until 1 p.m. hoping that Billie would leave. I wasn't sure if he had or not. But I decided to go find out what was going on.

"Well, time to face the music I guess," I said to myself walking up the steps.

I opened the basement door just a little so I could scope out what was behind the cold wooden door.

I didn't hear or see any sign of a different presence.

I slowly walked out and went into the living room. Nope, still no one to be found. It was really quite, so I believed that everyone had left me by myself. I sighed of relief thinking that Billie was finally gone. So I happily and freely walked over to the white leather couch and sat down on the left side of it that turned into a recliner.

I leaned back into the set relaxing, grabbed the remote that was on the arm rest, pushed the on button. Just like that, the television came on showing Friends

"Cool," I said to myself, Friends was my favorite.

It had been about 5 minutes into the show and since I had came out of the basement when I felt there was something behind me. A presence.

At first I ignored the feeling I had, it could have just been my mind messing with me. But no, I still had that feeling. So slowly, very slowly I turned my head.

And right there leaning against the open door, of all people... Mike.

"Holy crap Mike, you scared me!" I exclaimed throwing the remote at him.

Mike just laughed walking over and jumping from behind the couch onto it.
"Sorry Lynn, I just wanted to see how long it would take you." Mike explained.

"Bleh" I said in response and continued, "when did you get here?"

"Like 30 minutes ago," he replied, "and I was just hanging out in the kitchen."

I asked my second question, "Where's Mona?"

"She went with Billie to the store about... 20 or 15 minutes ago."

"Oh."

"Yep," Mike replied looking at me and said, "Hey Lynn, can I ask you a question?"

"Well you just did," I said sarcastically.

"I'm serious," he said in his 'motherly tone'

I sighed and nodded my head in approval.

"Do you still like Billie?" Mike asked curiously.

"Why did I know it was going to be about that," I said sighing again.

"Well... do you?" he asked more impatient then before.

"No, Mike I don't. Well, at least I think I don't." I put my head in my hands and said, "Why did he have to do all those things?"

"I don't know Lynn," Mike said sympathetically.

"All I wanted to do after the concert was hang out again, but no Billie had to mess it all up, and now I don't feel comfortable around him anymore." I said sitting up straight again.

Mike just nodded listening to my every word.

We sat there in silence for a while watching the tube, when we heard the front door opening and footsteps.

"It's them," Mike said leaning over to me in a hushed voice. I just looked at him and then back at the television.

"Hey guys," Mona said walking into the living after putting the bags of groceries away on the kitchen table.

"Hey," Mike and I both said at the same time, not looking away from TV. screen.

A couple minutes later I could tell Billie just had walked into the living room as well.

"Hey gorgeous," Billie said in a perky voice walking over to my side of the couch and sitting on the arm rest.

"Hey hobo," I said getting up and walking over to the other side of the couch. Mona raised an eyebrow at me as if to say 'sure you want to get up?' I ignored her.

Billie followed me and put on his all famous smirk. He was about 2 feet away when I said, "get any closer, and you won't see kids in the future."

Billie's eyes got big when I said that and backed away from me. I smiled satisfied of myself.

I looked over to Mona who was sitting on the wooden chair by the window on my left; she also was looking at me with big eyes. This made me feel more satisfied then before, because I actually scared them.

"Uh... Lynn," Mike said tugging at my shirt, for I had gone into one of my day dreams.

I snapped out of it and looked down at Mike who was pointing at Billie. I looked up at Billie who still was staring at me like I was the worst person ever.

"What!?" I yelled to Billie.

Billie jumped when I yelled at him and said, "You're horrible."

"So?" I asked.

"So that wasn't nice," Billie snarled.

"Hey, you're the one that won't leave me alone." Billie didn't respond to that, he just simply smirked and sat down where I was previously.

I stood there by Mike for a while watching TV with all three of them in silence when I decided to walk out, I didn't like the atmosphere I was in.

I went back down to the basement and decided to chance out of my pajamas.

I walk over to my drawers and pull out my plaid caprice from the second drawer. Then I walked over to the chair by the drawer that had all my shirts stacked there. I grab the one that is on top of all of them. It's black and reads, 'Amounting To Nothing'* a local band that had been in the punk scene for almost two years.

I changed into the clothes I picked out, also put on my black and white checkered vans and walked back up to the main floor of the house.

The three of them were still sitting silently in the living room watching TV, and I couldn't help but think it was my fault they were quite.

I walked out of the living room and out the front door. I decided to go for a walk.

I was half way down the road kicking rocks and singing to myself to keep me company when I stopped in front of this old gated house. It looked haunted and creepy, which I liked. Its windows were broken and you could see cobwebs every where. It looked like the only thing that was supporting it to keep it standing where two big grey pillars in the front of it.

I had never seen this part of Mona's neighborhood. So I chose to take a little tour of this house by myself, for it seemed no one lived there anymore.

I walked up to the gate and pushed it open and walked up the red brick path to the house. The stairs were old, grey and looked like they were about to fall if any amount of weight was on it. But I didn't care I still walked up them, they were creaky and loose boards.

When I was opening the screen door -that didn't seem to have a purpose anymore- I felt a tap on my shoulder...

*There really is a band called that, so if you were thinking of stealing that name, don't.
