I Can't Think Of A Title!, chapter 3
As we sat down in History Lou looked at me and started grinning. I gave her a look as if to say what the heck?! She just looked at me and supressed her laughter. This made me paranoid so I started to rummage through my school bag to try and find a mirror, I know Lou too well and knowing me I probably had something on my face. Taking a quick peak at my appearance I was relieved to discover that I hadn't been walking around with ink or food on my face. Lou looked at me, now she was confused. I just smirked at her as if to say i'd caught her out. I would ask her later what she had been grinning for, she knows how stubborn our teacher is I could have easily got myself a detention for getting my mirror out.
After what felt like a year the bell went and we started to pack our books away. It was time for break so we made our way to the canteen, we had arranged to meet Kay there. We usually sit on one of the outdoor benches but it was easier if we met Kay in the canteen on the first day. Once we were all together we made our way to our usual bench.
"Hey gals, how was History?" Kay asked in an overly friendly manner.
"Umm... History was boring as usual, how was Science?" Lou answered politely, but her reply was lacking Kay's enthusiasm.
"Did I do something to upset you guys? I mean you don't seem to happy?" Kay's tone had changed and she had a concerned look on her face.
"No Kay, everything's fine, but you see that guy over there?" Lou discreetly nodded her head towards a tall, emo looking boy.
"Mhmhmm," was Kay's response as the stuffed her face full of skittles.
I looked over to where Lou was looking and thought to myself 'Oh shit'. I glanced nervously to Lou who had a saddened look on her face.
"Well I have had some bad experiences with him, His name is Paul, I went out with him for about 3 months but I caught him making out with her," Lou said bitterly as she moved her gaze to a tall girl with poker straight black hair.
Kay followed her gaze until she saw the girl, "I hate to stereotype but do you mean the one who's wearing a belt as a skirt and looks like a hooker?" Kay asked inquisitively.
However upset Lou was she managed to let out a shallow laugh, "Yes that would be her, She can have him, if i'd have known that was his taste in girl's I wouldnt have considored seeing him in the first place."
"Thats the good ol' Lou I know, never lets a dude take advantage," I said as I put my arm over her shoulder.
We were silent for the next few moments, not an awkward silence, we were just all thinking. I was shaken away from my thoughts suddenly when Lou jumped up and shouted "I almost forgot!!!"
As I steadied myself and aked "Lou what have you forgotten now?!"
Kay looked startled yet amused at Lou's quick outburst. "Well it's your birthday, you are officially 16!! You can smoke and have sex!" Lou was now grinning and wriggling her eyebrows.
"That's lovely and all but condidoring that right now I'm not interested in either it's going to have to wait," I smiled back at her.
"Hey, I never knew it was your birthday, Happy Birthday chick," Kay stood up and hugged me.
"Thanks," I said as I hugged her back.
Lou now had the same smile on her face as she had earlier in History.
"Lou, you're looking at me like you did in History, I'm kinda worried now!" I asked, genuinely unnerved.
"Its just I haven't given you your present yet, here you go," She handed me a brown envelope.
I thanked her and carefully opened it. Inside was a silver necklace with a heart pendant. It was really pretty. I put it on and got out my last present. It was in another envelope that was inside of the brown one. I opened it up and inside were 3 tickets to the Green Day concert!
"Oh my Gosh, I can't believe you got me this, Thank You SOooo Much!!" was all I could say before I jumped up and gave my best friend a massive hug.
"Well I hope you like em' babe, I thought if I gave you three you could decide who you want to take with you," Lou said as she leaned back out of the hug.
"hmm... well I think I will take my Dad and Christina," I replied trying to hide my smile.
Lou's eyes grew wide and Kay just looked confused.
"Hate to ruin the moment, but is Christina your Step Mum or something?" Kay asked.
"Yep, and a bitch of one at that, you know my Dad and her have gone on holiday, they just left me a note saying they didn't know when they'd be back," My smile faded.
"Well why are you taking them with you then?" Kay asked.
"Oh yeah, I was only joking, I'm taking you two really!!" My smile reappeared and I burst into giggles!
"Really?" Kay and Lou asked together.
"Really!!" I replied then the bell went for next lesson.
