I Can't Think Of A Title!, chapter 4

The rest of the day went pretty quicky, probably due to my excitement. The concert was tomorrow night and I had to plan my outfit and everything in between now and then. I know I sound like a teenie for saying that but I wanted to get the right outfit. Nothing too scruffy but definately not anything too good, it would only get ripped and messed up.

I called Lou and Kay and invited them to my house, we could order a pizza or something since I don't cook. Well I tried but Lou will tell you that eating my meal wasn't a pleasant experience!
When they arrived I asked if they really wanted to go to school the next day. Lou had no problem with missing the day, she had the opticians in the morning anyway so she could easily persuade her parents to let her stay off for the rest of the day. Kay said that she'd explain about the concert and say that her hayfever was playing up. I didn't have to worry about an excuse, my dad was so concerned about my welfare that he had buggered off to Spain.
We just sat around and chatted for the rest of the evening, we needed to get to know Kay more and we had to tell her about ourselves.

"Soooo.... 'cause I only just met you two, how about a game of truth or erm.. truth?!" Kay asked us.
"Yeah sure, sounds good to me," I answered and Lou just nodded.
We got a bottle and Kay took the first spin, just my luck it landed on me.
"Erm.. Tell me about your family" Kay enquired.
"Okay this could go on for a while, but I guess you wanted to know, when I was born my Mum wanted to give me up for adoption but my Dad wanted to keep me so I lived with him. I hear from my Mum about twice a year, I don't hold it against her that she left, her job required her full attention and if she'd have quite the job she wouldnt have had enough money to care for me anyway. My Dad abused her and he sometimes hits me but I just deal with it," I paused for a moment and I saw Lou raise her eyebrows and glace towards my wristband.

After collecting my thoughts I continued to explain about my dysfunctional family.
"I do have two brothers, One called Pete and another called Simon. Simon is just like Dad, when I was about nine he moved away but that was after I had taken years of his abuse. He was always drunk or stoned, he is 25 now, and he erm... well he," I took a deep breath "Yeah he ra.." I couldn't continue I got up and ran into the bathroom. I was ashamed at my outburst, I was usually strong and now I looked like a whimp infront of a new friend.
Lou finished for me "He raped her when she was 8, he did it about 5 times, I'd better go and see if she's alright."
Kay looked shocked, " Oh my, I'm so sorry I didn't mean to drag it all up."

After pulling myself together I hauled myself off the bath and out of the bathroom, "Don't worry about it, you would have found out, it's just I worry because he's still out there, you know?" I spoke quietly.
"Hun, of course I understand, Did you not go to the police?" Kay asked.
"No, I told my Dad and he laughed in my face," I looked down.
"Oh, well um.. i'm here for you if ever you need me," Kay looked hopeful.
"Thanks," I said as I sat down on the bed. "I'll pick up where I left off, well that's Simon, by bastard of a brother. Pete is 19 now, he's just the opposite. He is really caring y'know. I told him about Simon and he was always there for me after that and him and Simon had a big arguement and haven't spoken since. Pete moved out last year, he's got a girlfriend and they have moved out to America where my Mum is. When i'm old enough I want to go but I can't 'cause I feel its my duty to stay here." I finished.

Lou sighed. " How many times have I said this Elle?, You do not have a duty to stay here, you Dad has been a bitch to you all of your life, this house has so many bad memories for you, why dont you want a new start with the people who love you?"
"I would, but it's not practicle and i'd miss you," I replied.
"Hey, we could still all visit each other, anyway why don't you think about it," Kay responed.
"Yeah," I spun the bottle and it landed on Kay, "So tell me about your family and your hobbies" I turned to Kay.
"Right, well, I live with my Mum, Dad and big sister Alice. We are a pretty normal family. My hobbies are playing bass, music, and art." Kay answered the question.
"Wow that was quick!" Lou answered.
"Why don't we ditch the bottle, it should be Lou's turn now, can you tell me about your family?" Kay asked.
"Sure, I live with my Mum and Dad, but they are both drug addicts and I hate my home. But when they are clean they are great people, problem is they are only clean for about 2 days at a time and thats very rare, like if they have to see a doctor or something," Lou replied.
"Gosh, you two have it hard, i'm sorry to just like say I have a normal family," Kay said.
"Don't worry, we are happy for you," I put my arm around Kay's shoulder.
"Uh oh, its half 11 I'm going to get in trouble if I don't go now" Kay spoke quickly.
"I'd better head off too," Lou also seemed in a rush.
"Okay then see you tomorrow, come here in the morning if you can skip school," I shut the front door and went to clear away the empty pizza boxes.
