Until Death Do Us Part, chapter 10
"Get out!" Alex murmured, then more suddenly, causing Billie to jump she screamed it over and over again, pushing Steve out the door, knocking things over on the way. She slammed the door shut, and collapsed on the floor in tears. Billie came rushing into the hallway, bending down by her and took her hand in his.
"Alex, it's ok, I'm here," Billie cooed, trying to calm her. He rested her head on his chest and held her tight. He stroked her soft silky hair and occasionally gently patting her on the back.
They spent the next few minutes in each others arms, whilst Alex steadily got her breathing back to normal and calmed herself down. Billie could hear her sobbing and felt cold tears seeping through his jacket and onto his skin.
After a while, Billie said, "That night of the concert, I meant that kiss Alex, and I do have deep feelings for you, feelings that have been causing my head to go into over drive, all I think about is you, the way you laugh, the way you talk, the way you sing. I have always loved you Alex and always will do. That day at the hospital, I didn't return because I thought you didn't love me, but what I'm trying to say is, well that I love you Alex, and will you marry me?" Billie trailed off waiting for a response.
Alex didn't reply. Billie let go of Alex and saw her eyes were closed. He assumed she was asleep until he looked down by her arm. Blood. Alex was bleeding. Alarm bells rung in Billie's head. They were so ear piercingly loud, Billie doubled up in pain for a moment, but carefully rested Alex's head on his knees, scanning her body in panic. He looked to where the blood was coming from, carefully lifted up her top and saw a knife. Billie filled with fear and horror.
"No Alex, Alex please don't do this to me!" Billie said getting louder with every word he said. He leant his head towards Alex's chest to check for breathing. She wasn't. He pressed his lips against hers, and tried to revive her. He kept on going for a while but she wouldn't come around. "NO, ALEX NOOOO! DON'T DO THIS TO ME! PLEASE ALEX, WAKE UP!" Billie screamed into the silence.
He didn't want to give up trying, but he knew that she had left him before he even got to say he really loved her. But what hurt most is the fact that she had decided to end her life in Billie's arms, and yet Billie would never know how Alex really felt towards him.
Billie reached for his pocket, still in tears and took out the ring he was going to give her. He gently lifted her hand and slipped the ring onto her finger. He curled her fingers up in his palm, never wanting to let go of her.
He loved her, and now she was gone.
Forever this time.
