Until Death Do Us Part, chapter 7
Alex gently reached out to touch Billie's shoulder and he flinched slightly. "It's alright Billie I'm here, what on earth has happened?" Alex asked softly. She sat down on the bed beside him and waited for an answer. "Alex, Adrienne, my wife, has called and said that we can't be together anymore," Billie choaked out. Alex looked shocked for a second as it was the first she had heard that Billie had got married. She suddenly realised she had her mouth hanging open and quickly shut it. "Oh Billie, I'm so sorry. What's happened, I mean if you don't want to say then I understand," Alex asked.
"No it's ok, I can tell you. I trust you after all," Billie replied sounding all blocked up.
He then went into detail as to why his wife was fed up with him being on the road, what with his band and that she hardly sees him and that she can't bring up his children like this, so she wants to end it now, before it gets any worse. Alex sat there taking it all in carefully, looking at Billie and feeling sorry for him as it must be hard for him being on the road. Alex didn't have these troubles as all her family was still in California and she hadn't seen them since the day she left the hospital.
When Billie had finished explaining everything to her, he burst out into tears and Alex held him for a minute to calm him down. As Alex sat back down after getting a tissue for Billie, they locked eyes again. Only this time the feeling was stronger, both of them knew they felt something for each other.
"Alex," Billie said still gazing into her eyes. "I... I... I really like you Alex... " Billie finally managed to stutter out. Alex smiled as Billie pushed a lock of hair behind her ear. He leaned towards Alex and gave her a soft, gentle kiss on the lips. A tingle went right through Alex's body. Billie broke away and gazed into her eyes again, not sure what he had just done. Alex reached out for Billie and pulled him into a longer more meaningful kiss which seemed to last for ever. Small fireworks went off in Alex's head and her insides felt like they had melted. Thoughts suddenly rushed back to her head as she realised what was happening. She was kissing Billie, her best friend, it wasn't right surely. She broke away quickly which startled Billie slightly. She quickly got up and managed to stutter that she needed to leave. Billie was left there on the end of his bed in a world of thoughts, his head hanging. What had he done?
For the next couple of days, all that seemed to be flowing through Alex's mind was the kiss she shared with Billie. The scene kept replaying in her head over and over again as she tried to make sense of it. Her son Danny questioned about his father and why he hadn't come home the night of the concert. Alex thought it was best to tell the truth and told him that he had cheated on her. Danny understood and looked after his mum as he thought she may be a little distraught by it all. However, Alex wasn't as worried about Steve as Danny thought. It was Billie she was worried about.
