Until Death Do Us Part, chapter 9
The next morning, Alex and Danny waited for Billie to arrive to take Danny up north. Danny slouched on the sofa, his feet up on the table. Alex just sighed as she had given up ages ago moaning to Danny about putting his feet up on the table. As they waited, there was a sudden knock on the door, making the pair of them jump. Alex got up, checked her appearance in the mirror on the way to the door, and then opened the door. However it was not Billie she came to face, but Steve.
"What the hell are you doing here Steve?" Alex spat at Steve who was looking sheepishly at the ground.
"Look Alex, just please let me in, I want to apologise," he pleaded.
"Apologise! Look Steve, what you did to me I wont forgive you for!" Alex shouted at him, and by this point Danny had come out into the hallway to see what all the commotion was about.
"Dad!" Danny said with the sound of happiness in his voice. He went to hug his dad but Alex stopped him in his tracks.
"Danny, upstairs now!" Alex ordered.
"But mum, I just want to say..." Danny was cut off.
"You don't have to say anything to your father! Upstairs, NOW!" Alex shouted, losing her patience second by second. Danny, did as he was told, and trooped off upstairs muttering to himself on the way.
"Look Alex, I know you may not forgive me, but at least let me explain," Steve pleaded once again. Alex agreed, and reluctantly let him in. just as Alex opened the door for Steve to enter, Billie's car drove up the drive way. He looked confused as to why Steve was entering Alex's home. He quickly got out the car and rushed up towards Alex's house, shivering on the way, as the cold wind sliced against him like daggers. He rang the doorbell and waited for Alex to answer. Alex opened the door to Billie whose hair was blowing around in the wind.
"Oh, hi Billie, come on in," Alex said opening the door for Billie. He walked on through to the lounge to see Steve sitting on the sofa. Steve looked up at Billie and rage spread across his face.
"What the hell is going on Alex? I come here to apologise and you've got some twerp on the side!" Steve boomed. Billie was taken aback, and hurt filled his eyes. Cowering inside, Billie stood there wondering if he should just go or not. No, he couldn't leave he thought. He had to be there for Alex, make sure everything was ok.
"Billie is my friend Steve! I've known him all my life, who do you think you are judging my life and the people I spend time with? I think you are ridiculous and pathetic Steve!" Alex shouted.
"Me pathetic? You're the one whose pathetic girl, I would never love you if you were the last woman on earth and I don't even care what you think of me, I can't even bare to think why I stood by you and as for Danny! Well he's as useless as any son could be! You're mistaking me here Alex, I'm not the one who needs sorting out, you are, you know what, I'll get you some medical help while I'm here because you sure need it if you would ever think I love you!" he bellowed back. The room fell silent, Alex's head suddenly filled with pain, like the pain she felt when she was fifteen years old. The same feeling rushed to her head, she couldn't live this anymore she thought.
