I came before Adrienne..., chapter 9
"The walk down Divorce Blvd. Finally came?" I asked.
"Just like you predicted." Kerry said before falling asleep.
The next morning I woke up before everyone else. I decided to walk over to Ray's to talk and pick up my stuff. It wasn't too far. About 9 Miles. At the rate I was going, it would take me about two and a half hours. It was like a walk down the Blvd. Of Broken Dreams.
I arrived at about 8:00am. I knocked on the door. No answer. I walked to the back of the house. I saw Ray sitting on the end of the dock. I walked out there and sat next to him. I saw his eyes were beat red. He has a sweatband on one arm. And too many sex bracelets to count on the other. I pulled the sweatband back to reveal deep and new cuts. I moved the bracelets to reaveal "Death" written with a knife. I put my face into my arms, and cried.
"I'm sorry. I just couldn't take it. What I did to you was totally uncalled for and wrong. I don't even know why I did it, or what happened. It just doesn't make sense." He told me as tears rolled down his cheek.
Skin was showing between my shirt and jeans, and Ray noticed something I had even forgotten I'd done. Two cuts. In the form of an 'X'. He pulled me close to him and held me. I rested my head on his shoulder with tears still going down my face.
He kissed the top of my head, "I'm sorry, I truly am babe." I didn't know what to say.
"I don't want to hurt you anymore, I love you and I always will, but I don't want to hurt you. I couldn't handle seeing you hurt anymore. Friends with benefits?" He said.
I laughed a little, "Sounds Great. But..."
